I claim tax credits and could work more than I do but choose not to. I'm also pg with #5 which was unplanned and so will be claiming even more tax credits soon. Who wants to come and lecture me?

Agree with morticia

NerfHerder · 08/07/2011 11:12

Really hf? That will help children in poverty how?

(I know someone who has 9 children with 7 fathers- all are living in deprived circumstances.)

fanjobanjowanjo · 08/07/2011 11:23

lol at cash for kids......if only it were that simple.....they've cost me far more than i've 'earnt'

Haha. Trollolololol

hellospoon · 08/07/2011 11:32

hf that can't be true? How would they police it?

jellybeans · 08/07/2011 11:37

I heard they were thinking of just paying benefits for up to three children. Not sure if it was part of the universal credit or something else though.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 08/07/2011 11:40

It's not true. But we could easily find that when the Universal Credit comes in and there are caps on the total amount a family can receive in benefits, there may be a fixed amount for 'three or more children' rather than a price per piece.

So how would that work with disability/an etc?

GypsyMoth · 08/07/2011 11:46

NerfHerder · 08/07/2011 11:51

I was just wondering if 5 'Anon's would count as 1 person...

Fifis25StottieCakes · 08/07/2011 11:57

So are you working 16hrs and claiming working tax credits or income support with child tax credits?

KidderminsterKate · 08/07/2011 11:58

no I'm not a troll.....this is genuinely my situation. Oh and all the children have the same father...how odd people would assume otherwise?

I'm not the one insinuating that the reason I will soon be having 5 children is purely because of the taxcredit system....that of course is absolutely ludicrous.

CTC and CB is the only benefit I get btw and I do work as well. But, i could work full time......I just don't! Besides which may be made redundant soon and then will be claiming a whole lot more. Sure that will annoy people as well.

fifi - I work about 30 hrs (school hours, 9-3) and just get CTC. I could do full time but choose not to because life is easier if I dont and I wouldnt see any financial beneft.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 08/07/2011 12:04

So if you are working you are either on the fiddle or claiming IS and keeping £20 out of your wages

I dont get what you mean. If you are working you would get WTC. Are you single

KidderminsterKate · 08/07/2011 12:04

I'm not bragging - I posted becuase I'm not ashamed of it and it seems that many think I should be.

oh and my children are at school.....

OP posts:
Fifis25StottieCakes · 08/07/2011 12:05

Sorry Kidderminister xpost. I dont see the problem if you are working TBH even part time. Its ridiculous you dont earn more working full time.

KidderminsterKate · 08/07/2011 12:05

ummm I earn too much to be entitled to WTC

I do not claim IS and I am certainly not on the fiddle!

The OP is a regular, not a troll.

I can see what you are trying to say, but I dont know if you are going about it in the right way Kate.

mycatoscar · 08/07/2011 12:17

YANBU to claim what is on offer from the government - I too work part time out of choice and have in the past claimed tax credits (no longer elegible)

But, it does annoy me a bit that I cannot afford to have any more children whilst my friend who rents (and therefore gets "benefits") has just had her 5th child and has no plans to return to work because they will manage of tax credits etc. I am not annoyed with her - but I find the system ridiculous.

If tax credits was non existant, would you still have gone ahead and had the children OP? Honest question, not having a go.

I suppose it is all down to choices really isn't it.

I dont get the you aee better off on IS. Im on IS and if i work i would loose IS to get 3x WTC, Nursery funded and because i am paying the 20% for the nursery i would be able to get full HB/CTB. With my wages i would be much better off and claiming more benefits IYSWIM
