AIBU?

How miserable are you that the Tories are in power?

I feel tense and twitchy. I used to enjoy reading the politic section/ other political forums, but I fear if I keep on going there and reading more and more about Tory plans, I will give myself a heart attack.

I loath them but worst I fear them. I am anxious for this country and the ordinary man and woman.

Dave makes me feel insane with hatred.

I have a colleague who is in love with the Tories. I don't share biscuits with him any more.

Dave makes me itch. All over.

One of the biggest confidence tricks in history was performed on the British public by the last tory government and the current lot are perpetuating - even bragging about - the lie.

Accusing Labour of taking a healthy economy in 1997 and ruining it, so now the tories have to, in the risible language of their supporters, "clear up the mess".

What actually happened last time around in the 1908s was that they had huge income from the double benefit of selling off billions in Sate assets AND massive oil revenues. This is why the economy seemed to be in better shape (even allowing for embarrasing shambles of Black Monday and all the other crises).

This time, however the only things left to sell are land (Dover, schools, closed-down MoD sites and even selling off our forests) and services (NHS to US healthcare vultures, privatising the public sector, etc).

Everything else, according to weenie Cameron and his daft cronies can be left in the safe arms of a strange new Religion called, 'Big Society'.

Much like 'Care in the Community' I suppose? Well that was a great success wasn't it?

Big Society? Big Lie more like.

Pregnant - not all people do contribute! The feckless, the lazy, the people that have NEVER paid taxes and take from everyone else. The health tourists (if not a huge problem they do take away resources from others - they havent paid anything whatsoever) These people havent contributed and dont intend to.

And the NHS is not the envy of the world!!!

It was fine when it was started. Life expectancy was much lower and when you left school you found your self a job. Now there is so much more expectation from people, I got pregnant with some no mark so can I be supported, I dont want to work because I get as much on benefits, I dont want to move to look for a job because I would miss my Mum, I messed around at school (and messed it up for others) so dont have any qualifications.

I dread the day I have to buy those 9p tins of beans as I cant afford Heinz!

Sorry, I just spotted this!! The reason we have managed, just about, even when I was out of work and we were living on dh p/t salary is because we buy such items! It's called being sensible! It's true that food prices have rocketed but there are so many ways of being able to manage, and yep. 'value', 'basics', whatever they call such products are there for that reason!

Ishani - I'm from a Labour background. Parents always voted Labour, grew up in labour voting area - I've even voted for them once or twice. They're just not the party for me anymore, they haven't stayed true to their roots.
If the labour party was full of Michael Foots and Dennis Skinners ( like it should be ) I might go back to them - but the party was becoming unelectable like that - that's why 'New Labour' was created -
Stay true to your roots - I'd have more time and respect for you.

And even though I vote Tory now - I support the unions and will do 'til I die.
That's more than you can say for most 'new' labour MP's.

And the NHS is not the envy of the world!!!

I agree. I love the principle of the NHS but have to admit that in its current form, it's just one big dark blackhole and there comes a point where you have to question the wisdom of throwing more money at it in the vain hope it will sort itself out. It won't.

If the NHS was such an envy around the world, why o why are other countries not lining up to copy it?

Just because Labour isn't the right party to represent you any more, I agree with everything you say btw does not mean the conservatives are, that's the mistake every working man made good seems to fall foul of.

"Just because Labour isn't the right party to represent you any more, I agree with everything you say btw does not mean the conservatives are"

I was thinking this. Why does it seem to naturally fall to be Labour or Conservative supporter?

Maybe we should all start looking to other political parties too? Maybe the competition would be good, monopolies never work.

im more fucked off because i had no say into who got into power. as i live in NI i can't vote for the "big three". i can only vote for sectarian fronts or loons. if labour for example had a manifesto that i agreed with them i couldn't vote for them. i have to live by the votes of english people. i will never have a say in which party is in control.

however i think the tories are being blamed for a lot of things that aren't their fault. im not saying that they are perfect but whoever won the election had one hell of problem to deal with and were always going to be the bad guys. i don't agree with a lot of their decisions but they are faced with major problems.

YAnbu to feel down.

I'm sure the voting majority felt the same way the preceding 13 years.

Yabu to be banging on and on and on about it. Why don't you read a nice book instead?

The sight on the TV of that fat, useless wanker John Prescott and the war criminal Alistair Campbell over the last couple of days talking their usual garbage, reminds us why Labour arent in power anymore.

Plus we dont have to listen to Gordon Brown telling us it wasnt his fault he f...ed up the economy.

Remember that by borrowing we are spending future voters' taxes. This means that everyone who says that they worry about their children's future because of the cuts, should also worry about their children's future without the cuts because if we don't pay the debt our children will be left paying for the debt that our generation has run up.

Ahh, Sam Cam. While many people in this country are worried about keeping their jobs Sam had a nice little role at London Fashion Week recently to promote British Fashion. She wore a both hideous looking/ and hideously expensive outfit each day and the chosen industry for her to promote involves clothes many of us will never afford. That was clever!
