So when DS was born,

its not a ban as such, but ive told my boys they have to wait till they are 35 before they are allowed to get a tatoo, or piercings. the younger one then spent an animated few minutes planning what he was going to have. the older one just rolls his eyes at this sort of parenting. dd had her ears pierced when she wanted them, aged 7,

I would be seriously hurt if they changed religions, or got too fundamental in same religion. but again, no bans. in fact, other than the usual stuff that society bans coz its illegal or immoral, i wouldnt ban my kids from anything

My Mum asked me never to ride a motorbike, and it's the only thing she's ever asked of me in that way, so I absolutely agreed.

Mine is don't ever EVER coerce anyone into having sex with you. And don't walk away from your responsibilities.

exoticfruits · 05/07/2011 06:06

I hope that people realise that they will not necessarily comply! I can't think of a single mother who wants a DC in Afganistan-and yet they are there. Mine know that I can't abide tattoos or piercings, I think that I might cry if they disfigured themselves, but I just count myself as lucky that they haven't.

Some of them are really weird on here-not rockclimb? Hmm We have whole holidays watching them rockclimb-it is perfectly safe. They are almost bound to come across it on a school trip/activity centre.

There are some things they are definitely NOT allowed to do like drive when drunk

There are other things I would HOPE they don't do like: do drugs, smoke ( I used to and the want stays with you!), binge drink, binge eat, binge anything! Join the army, ride motorbikes, dress like a chav (!) or for my daughter to dress like Jordon ( the tangoed lapdancer look)

But these are my bugbears, although I will be telling telling them to never drink and drive or get in a car with a drunk driver

chillistars · 05/07/2011 07:17

motorbike riding and joining the army - though DS wouldn't be able to anyway.

That is what I don't want, however he'll be an adult and will make his own decisions.

chillistars · 05/07/2011 07:17

Absolutely no-nos though are driving under the influence or getting into the car with a driver who is.

noddyholder · 05/07/2011 09:06

Definitely no army/military careers
Tattoos ok ds is planning one now!

They are not to swear using slang names of organs as swear words.

Any other "swears" of anglo saxon origin are acceptable.

HappyDoll re. the white carpets I would also include cream, oatmeal, and pale green in the ban.

.

I shall also steal belledamme's ones on page 5 Grin

Especially the no fundamentalist religion one, I can think of two especially that are no no's.
