HOW much for a bottle of suncream?

just paid 12£ for two bottles of suncream (241 offer).
have they always been that expensive? or have I just not paid attention before?
they are taking the micky, right?

No this is about right, but if you go into the cheap shops like Wilkinsons or the like, you may pick up a bit cheaper. They are about a fiver each.

I know what you mean, I always expect a bottle of suncream to cost about a fiver. Even the bog-standard (by which I mean not the fancy 'invisible'/non-sticky/last all day or whatever ones) Boots ones are about £9. Not so bad if you get 2 for 1, but still.

problem is, we react to most sun creams and have found one from nivea that works for us. but still I excpected more like 3.99 per bottle.

Hah! That's nothing. Discovered on holiday in the Canaries that the Factor 50 we had taken with us irritated DD's skin, so had to buy the only bottle of Factor 50 extra-sensitive, hypo-allergenic stuff we could find - that'll be 14 Euros please! Gulp!

You should always take more than you need because some places have extortionate prices.

On qvc the other night they had a botte for £40Shock Ok, it was a big bottle but blimey, if I hadn't been sitting down, I would have fallen over!

Don't normally watch qvc tv by the way, I was working and on Eyesight obs with a patient that does have a penchant for qvc tvGrin

And always make sure that you pack it in your suitcase rather than hand luggage, as they will confiscate it (if its over 100ml).

It's outrageous. There's no reason why it should be so expensive.

The cancer charities keep debating whether to bring out their own sensibly-priced ranges to help people.

But then they'd be encouraging people to sunbathe which goes against their messages.

Last week I paid $8.99 USD for a bottle of suncream. Today that converts to £5.62. I was shocked and thought it exorbitant. Clearly I've still got the better deal! Shock

I paid £12 for a nivea 50+ spray last weekend with my supermarket shop.....it was on 241 the following monday!

I tried a few when I first started reacting to suncream. now that I found one I am not going to change (unless the company changes the formula).

Dh and I were on our honeymoon last year in Mauritius. Packed a full bottle, which then got squashed in our case (thankfully wrapped in a carrier bag) but only about a quarter of a bottle was useable. We went through that in about 2 days. We went to the hotel shop (main town was about an hour and a half walk or expensive taxi) and they were charging £23 for a normal bottle of factor 25 spray/cream sun cream. We got talking to a lovely couple who were leaving the next day and they gave us the rest of theirs! Grin!!!

B/F was a bit delayed coming back from school today and told me he had been pulled aside as DS has reacted to the cream we had sent in

Both DS's seem to have problems with suncream so I try and avoid using it at all costs without putting them at risk, but obviously cant expect school to go along with this.(sports week so they are outside a lot)

I suppose I am going to have to go on the hunt again

I'm a mug tooBlush I buy piz buin 6 hour stuff for the ds's for school. I think I got 2 x 200ml tubes for £20!!

It is expensive but ds2 in particular is very sensitive and comes out in a rash from alot of the brands. Plus DS1 is very fair skinned and there is no way he woud put more sunscreen on at school so 6 hour stuff it is.

old raver, have you ever tried the once a day application? I use the Piz Buin one and it seems to work and I tend to react to nearly every other brand.

We had to buy some expensive suncream in Greece last year when the stuff we'd brought sent her legs and under her eyes up in horrible eczema.

This year, she'll be wearing oversized boardshorts, the proper UV rated ones, oversized sunglasses, and a rash vest.

Fabric has the great advantage of not washing off!

Asda do a factor 50 5 star (best available) for babies/children that is about £3. Bargain! I always get mine from there now. Look on the bak of the bottle, most of the expansive branded oned aren't even 5 star so they are not offering the best protection available.

we used garier 50 for DD till last year when i couldnt get it nearby so got asdas own 30 i think in a yellow scooshy bottle about 3/4 quid smells great its green then invisible it leaves my hands sticky but nobody elses apparently Hmm
