just paid 12£ for two bottles of suncream (241 offer).
have they always been that expensive? or have I just not paid attention before?

And it's fragrance free, colour free and water resistant.

Imagine you had invented a cream that stopped people getting cancer, or drastically reduced the likelihood of them getting cancer.

How much would you sell your wonder product for?

(btw- I pay £14 a bottle due to DS' eczema)

I bought tanning oil by mistake for £20. Turned out to be better value as it works a treat and I don't burn!

But I thought the VAT was dropped on suncream?

mousymouse · 28/06/2011 14:32

just checked the receipt: no vat, but 12.76 per bottle.

Last time I bought some £12.49 and dd came out in a rash! So I've bought some different stuff in boots-even worse value, because I only got the mini ones (2 for 1), but at least it was only £5 if this stuff disagrees with her too.Hmm

I wonder if there's any you can get on prescription for excema?

islanzadi · 28/06/2011 22:31

i got some reduced in tesco's last winter - down to £1 but when it ran out i usually get the cheap wilkinson's one and it's great :)

islanzadi · 28/06/2011 22:31

just to add few of the cheapy ones smell great but hey!

The only sun screen that DD1 doesn't react to is this one... £15 a time Shock.

Last year DD2 was fine with the usual children's sun screens but, this year, she has developed her sister's tendency to react to anything but the Green Baby one. £15 is expensive but definitely preferable to swollen eyelids, mouth, limbs and torso Sad.

I use Tescos own brand (£2.99ish) for the kids and me, just back from holiday and it was great, can also second Asda. B&M had Puz Buin on offer a few weeks ago, not sure if its still on.

A1980 · 28/06/2011 23:25

Shop around.

Boots do a multi pack at the moment. It has one bottle of kids formula SPF50, one bottle of SPF30, one bottle of SPF15 and one bottle of aftersun. All for £12.99.

scurry I've used P20 in the past on myself but havn't bought it for a while. The one that DS reacted to this time is one I have used on him just once before and it was ok then. Its just a bit irritating when you buy one then it reacts or like both my boys they itch like mad with it

CubiksRube · 29/06/2011 16:50

For those who aren't near an Asda, like me, Sainsburys are doing half-price on all their sunscreen at the moment.

startail · 30/06/2011 00:28

A visit to "Lion in the sun" or similar web sites that sell rash vests and UV suits for younger children.
My UV jacket means I can sit by the Pool or build sand castles on the beach without using 1/2 a bottle of sun cream. Mummy burns far quicker than my far fairer DDs Envy

jester68 · 30/06/2011 07:48

I was lucky this year as few weeks back they had nivea sun lotion on offer in tesco for £5 a bottle so I got a couple of them. Then a week later they were £10 each but buy one get one free.

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 30/06/2011 10:08

Get yourself to Lidl and Asda! I picked some up from both, one a factor 30 (lidl) and one a 50 in a big spray bottle (asda) - together they came to less than £5! The asda one smells a bit sweet but is insect + water repellent and all day protection desgined for kids - Ok neither of them are clear but I hate the greasy feeling of those ones! I don't see the point in shelling out for the expensive ones when the cheaper ones are just as good - and you get more for your money!

My cousin's little girl has quite bad skin so she goes to the chemist in Tesco who specially formulate a high factor that is also a moisturising cream as she had a bad reaction to other brands - she pays £1 a tube! I was nearly sick when I saw the 2 bottles for £14.99 in tesco of the greasy spray stuff - How can they charge that?

If in dire need - I know 2 of my friends that get a sun block from the doc for their children, free on a script and very good for you.

mumeeee · 30/06/2011 10:29

Suncream is expensive but you can get it much cheaper occupy shop around. I bought a bottle of factor 30 from Home Bargains the other day fir £2.99
