Today was my second attempt at internet shopping. I think todays is a perfect reason for not bothering...EVER AGAIN!

I had ordered a lovely lot of shopping from Ocado today, mistakenly thinking I would get a bumper load of high quality products...including six bottles of wine, for a bargain price.

The shopping arrived just now, and the driver said he didn't have the receipt, which was no great problem until we realised there was no clink of bottles in the bags. A quick rifle through yielded no delicious bottles.

I stomped back to the front door and yowled after the driver, who sadly climbed out of the van and tried in vain to reason with me....

Until DH called to me in that 'Come here you stupid cow' tone of voice.

I'd ordered miniature bottles of wine.

Oh dear.

Shock how awful for you.

fruitshootsandheaves · 27/06/2011 22:51

HaHa

I am often guilty of ordering 1 carrot instead of 1kg of carrots

I have found that online grocery shopping is good at teaching you how much everything weighs

ChippyMinton · 27/06/2011 22:51

My neighbour ordered 6 5kg bags of spuds once, instead of 6 individual baking potatoes.

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 27/06/2011 22:51

You will have to do the only reasonable thing here. Drink the lot and tell yourself that as they were only mini teeny weeny bottles that in fact you have barely had one "normal" large glass of wine. Cheers Wine

ToscanaBambina · 27/06/2011 22:51
Shock

Have you necked them yet?

Really, how did you manage to do that?! Grin

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 27/06/2011 22:52

Grin at one carrot and fruitshoots demanding to check the back of the delivery van for the hidden sack of contraband carrots.

isittooearlyforgin · 27/06/2011 22:54

have had a delivery of 13 bags of bananas instead of one, tiny bag of rice instead of big bag i was expecting, but nothing comes close to the disappointment of finding wine order cocked up Wine chin chin!

cottonreels · 27/06/2011 23:06

Easy done with Ocado. Everything looks big in thier pictures (obviously). I ordered a meat and veg pie for when my parents came down and it would barely feed me alone when it arrived, nevermind 4+child.. Am slowly getting used to checking the weights.

VforViennetta · 27/06/2011 23:13

Haha excellent, we ended up with approx 200 cocktail sausages at Christmas, for 2 adults and 3 children Hmm.

hambo · 27/06/2011 23:14

hee hee so funny!

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/06/2011 23:16

Heh heh! I ended up with a teeny weeny miniscule bottle of olive oil last week - it was about the size of the bottle of olive oil my mum used to keep in the medicine cabinet in case of ear ache.

Also 4 packs of 4 tins of tomatoes, instead of just 4 tins.

I can't imagine how sad I'd be about that wine situation, though.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 27/06/2011 23:23

Ive done it with Tesco. I ordered what i thought were 2ltr bottles of coke at rock bottom prices. When they came they were just full price small bottles Blush

ZillionChocolate · 27/06/2011 23:26

When I worked for Sainsburys home delivery call centre, we'd ring and check on any suspicously large/small fruit and veg orders. I did once have a woman who wanted 5 bags of carrots.

JMarley · 27/06/2011 23:30

oh dear :(

I once ordered a kilo of fresh ginger Shock

OrdinaryJo · 27/06/2011 23:34

Seven bottles of Thai Fish Sauce on my first Tesco order. How random?

Grin at the tiny wineys though!

M0naLisa · 27/06/2011 23:37

I once got everything order that were the small bags/tins/packets haha. Now I check the sizes and weights

M0naLisa · 27/06/2011 23:37

MistressFrankly · 27/06/2011 23:49

i got 12 bags of self raising flour instead of 2 Blush That is a LOT of baking!

MistressFrankly · 27/06/2011 23:51

i now check everything at least 3 times. And now never ever shop online when tired/drunk/cant find specs

razzlebathbone · 27/06/2011 23:54

My friend got 119 pints of milk once.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 28/06/2011 00:06

what do they do if you get 119 pints of milk, do they take them back. The packer must be thing WTF Grin

Fifis25StottieCakes · 28/06/2011 00:07

*thinking

razzlebathbone · 28/06/2011 00:11

Yeah they took them back. Apparently it was Tesco's fault.

NadiaWadia · 28/06/2011 00:11

Oh God I have done this so many times. Thought it was just me being stupid, but I now see I'm not alone!
