Today was my second attempt at internet shopping. I think todays is a perfect reason for not bothering...EVER AGAIN!

I had ordered a lovely lot of shopping from Ocado today, mistakenly thinking I would get a bumper load of high quality products...including six bottles of wine, for a bargain price.

The shopping arrived just now, and the driver said he didn't have the receipt, which was no great problem until we realised there was no clink of bottles in the bags. A quick rifle through yielded no delicious bottles.

I stomped back to the front door and yowled after the driver, who sadly climbed out of the van and tried in vain to reason with me....

Until DH called to me in that 'Come here you stupid cow' tone of voice.

I'd ordered miniature bottles of wine.

Oh dear.

Oops!

I once managed to order five cabbages and four bags of potatoes. And one mushroom...

heleninahandcart · 28/06/2011 01:05

I feel your pain OP. 4 kilos of fresh mackerel anyone?

Icelollycraving · 28/06/2011 05:25

Did you think you had got some really really bargainous wine deals?!!

allhailtheaubergine · 28/06/2011 05:31

Oh how funny. Yet sad.

TrilllianAstra · 28/06/2011 12:26

119 pints of milk? That's a very odd number... did she order lots of 6 pinters and then a few 2 pint and 1 pint bottles?

Igetknockeddownbutgetupagain · 28/06/2011 18:33

Icelollycraving Blush

Yep, I'm an idiot.

But I'm not alone, I showed the item on the website and said to DH 'Look at this price! Do you think they've got it wrong? Oh well, better take advantage of it quick before they change it back!!!'

oh I've given up on internet food shops.

my recent purchases:

-catering size jar of dijon mustard- it's MASSIVE
-those teeny weeny pots of jams like what you get in a b&b
-a carrot
-a leek

ha ha at tiny bottles of wine!

squeakytoy · 28/06/2011 18:42

Does Ocado not show the contents size on their website then? ie "125ml" ? I can see how it would be confusing if that was the case..

Doobydoo · 28/06/2011 18:43

Grin...you are not alone. But feel your pain re wine.Mine not so drastic...mahusive bag of icing sugar that lasted months and months...love the ..'and one mushroom'Grin

FooffyShmoofferschinhair · 28/06/2011 18:43

I once ordered 7 loaves. Hmm

Sadly no fishes.

TrilllianAstra · 28/06/2011 18:45

They all show the weight of everything, just sometimes you don't know if the branston pickle in your fridge is 360 or 540g and then you discover that the 540g one is too tall for the shelf.

Still beats having to go to the supermarket, which is full of people, and then queue up at the till, and then load it into your car, and out of your car again.

Get drinking and order some more.

I once ordered a 5kg bag of spuds - having no idea it would be industrial sized - for me and 1 DS. Grin

brighthair · 28/06/2011 20:47

I've ordered from Tesco online for the first time in about 18 months. It's due between 9 and 11

waits with anticipation to see what will arrive

ConstantVigilance · 28/06/2011 20:56

I once ordered a tub of Haagen Daz ice cream and it was a teeny weeny one that turned up :(

Gutted!

Eaglebird · 28/06/2011 20:57

I once ordered 6 bananas, only to find I'd ordered 6 bunches of bananas by mistake.

onepieceofcremeegg · 28/06/2011 20:59

ha ha. laughing at the 119 pints of milk. My friend recently discovered that 8kg of bananas is quite a generous quantity for a few packed lunches.

brighthair · 28/06/2011 21:01

ah mine has arrived, present and correct except for 4 substitutions. I think a human has done them as they are v sensible ones
e.g ordered cauli and cheese soup - sub was broccoli and cheese soup

springbokscantjump · 28/06/2011 21:07

Ah my friend ordered some baby feeding spoons for my ds as a present. She turned up with 12 packs of 3 spoons. had dithered between buying one pack or two, didn't delete the 1 and ended up with twelve. So I have 36 winnie the pooh spoons. To be fair, has been massively helpful and I have somehow managed to misplace a fair few.

VivaLeBeaver · 28/06/2011 21:11

Did you not wonder why they were cheap? Grin

mamalovebird · 28/06/2011 21:17

Oh ladies, brilliant thread, I'm in stitches. 119 pints of milk?? Excellent Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/06/2011 21:18

I'm howling at "tiny winey"
