Im letting 6mo DS sit/roll around, in the front room, on a damp towel to keep him cool. We have a flat so no outdoor area for a paddling pool etc.

Is there some reason I shouldnt do this? I know my mum would say HE'LL GET A CHILL, but really? Its 27 degrees?!

Sounds fine to me.

effingwotnots · 27/06/2011 14:21

Sounds fine to me! Smile Good idea actually!

RabidRabbit · 27/06/2011 14:22

Absolutely no reason to not do this, great idea, I bet he's loving it :) Might even give it a go myself Grin

sausagesandmarmelade · 27/06/2011 14:22

Sounds brilliant....could do with a bit of that meself

Nixea · 27/06/2011 14:22

Sounds fine to me! I bought one of those flat builders trays from B&Q and used to fill it with half an inch or so of water and let DD roll in that (supervised ofc :) ) when she was about that age and she survived just fine. Sounds fun - I may try it myself to cool down!!

knittynoodle · 27/06/2011 14:23

Phewee! :)

can I have a go please ?

knittynoodle · 27/06/2011 14:25

If you can all fit in my flat which is the size of a 2 man tent, then yes! Come over! BYOB!

OP posts:
Nixea · 27/06/2011 14:26

BYOB - is that bottle or baby? Or both!! :o

knittynoodle · 27/06/2011 14:27

In this instance, its definately bottles!

Sounds like my flat.

Very envious of my friends with gardens at the moment but also means I don't have to worry about sunshades and baby getting burned.

giveitago · 27/06/2011 14:38

Sounds inventive - great stuff.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 27/06/2011 14:43

Very jealous. Our garden is scorchio at the moment and DD is begging me to blow her pool up. Problem with that is it takes a minimum of 40 minutes pumping with a sort of stirrup pump thing, 45 minutes to fill by hose and rain is forecast tomorrow.
I told her to go and have a shower.

gallicgirl · 27/06/2011 17:16

My friend put her baby in the washing-up bowl with cool water!

DD can't sit by herself yet so I'm thinking what I can use to fill with water. She's a nice fit in the laundry basket but it has holes in it. :(

Purplebuns · 27/06/2011 17:20

Gallicgirl look for a trug, they come in all sorts of sizes, also her baby bath if she has one? :)

starfishmummy · 27/06/2011 17:24

Why not?
With my DS I used to use plant sprayer to spray cool water just above him, so it sort of gently rained on his face - he loved it, no harm done (hes nearly 13 now!) - or if I was out I'd take an Evian Spray to do the same thing.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 27/06/2011 17:30

A big builder's bucket, gallicgirl?

Disclaimer - it is the bucket that is big, not the builder. There is no need for an actual builder. WinkGrin

kaid100 · 27/06/2011 18:27

In this weather, it's fine.

gallicgirl · 27/06/2011 21:48

What the hell's a trug???? Confused

We'll find something.

Purplebuns · 27/06/2011 21:52

This is a trug, ebay have tonnes iirc

TheSnickeringFox · 27/06/2011 21:53

Gallic, my ds can't sit very well yet either so we put his bumbo in his little paddling pool and he sat there proudly like it was a throne! He had a whale of a time - all closely supervised, natch.

MadYoungCatLady · 27/06/2011 22:08

Ohhhhh that sounds bliss. Wish I could find a towel big enough for me to roll around on (4 months pregnant but the size of 6).
Damp towels wrapped around feet at bedtime have always worked with me when its this blinking hot too. Never tried it with DS though so this post is pretty much irrelevant I guess...
Trying to think of more inventive ways to suggest to cool baby down, but for the life of me cant remember how big a 6mo is. And I'm guessing a (clean) cat litter tray will probably sound rather insane... I shall not rest until I have thought up something ingenius though.

cookielove · 27/06/2011 22:10

I clicked on the trug link, and found and UGG boot now that can't be right can it!!

Purplebuns · 27/06/2011 22:16

Whoops!! here is the correct link the ugg was for my s&b thread!

MrsSnaplegs · 27/06/2011 22:19
