Im letting 6mo DS sit/roll around, in the front room, on a damp towel to keep him cool. We have a flat so no outdoor area for a paddling pool etc.

Is there some reason I shouldnt do this? I know my mum would say HE'LL GET A CHILL, but really? Its 27 degrees?!

I actually have two pink trugs supposed to be used at soft toy/crap storage however, they are used for everything else but and are great laundry baskets, general bucket.etc
The first was bought as a bucket bath for my dd and worked very well and much cheaper than Mothercares £30 offering!

You could siphon the water out, if you had a long tube. And then use a towel to soak up the rest.

Or just use towels and then stick them straight in a spin cycle.

Crikey that confused my poor brain! DD is far too fat for a wooly boot Grin

I'd call that a rubber dolly and it is in fact what I sent my DP out to buy when he came home with the holey laundry basket. Ah well.

"one of those flat builders trays from B&Q"

I call it a Spot Board. It is for mixing up small amounts of mortar or concrete. Black PVC about 2 inches (50mm) deep
mixing tray It is nothing to do with paint.

I don't know how you'd empty it if you put water in it inside the flat though.

A pair of cold wet uggs would be lovely, but would smell like dead sheep after a few hours I fear....

Ds had a cold shower and didn't even want to put on a pair of briefs for bed. He is au naturel under a duvet cover.

(slightly pathetic that I only have fitted sheets or duvet covers and not a nice crisp cotton sheet for him)

Ohhhhh that sounds bliss. Wish I could find a towel big enough for me to roll around on (4 months pregnant but the size of 6).
Damp towels wrapped around feet at bedtime have always worked with me when its this blinking hot too. Never tried it with DS though so this post is pretty much irrelevant I guess...
Trying to think of more inventive ways to suggest to cool baby down, but for the life of me cant remember how big a 6mo is. And I'm guessing a (clean) cat litter tray will probably sound rather insane... I shall not rest until I have thought up something ingenius though.

Gallic, my ds can't sit very well yet either so we put his bumbo in his little paddling pool and he sat there proudly like it was a throne! He had a whale of a time - all closely supervised, natch.

A big builder's bucket, gallicgirl?

Disclaimer - it is the bucket that is big, not the builder. There is no need for an actual builder. WinkGrin

Why not?
With my DS I used to use plant sprayer to spray cool water just above him, so it sort of gently rained on his face - he loved it, no harm done (hes nearly 13 now!) - or if I was out I'd take an Evian Spray to do the same thing.

Gallicgirl look for a trug, they come in all sorts of sizes, also her baby bath if she has one? :)

My friend put her baby in the washing-up bowl with cool water!

DD can't sit by herself yet so I'm thinking what I can use to fill with water. She's a nice fit in the laundry basket but it has holes in it. :(

Very jealous. Our garden is scorchio at the moment and DD is begging me to blow her pool up. Problem with that is it takes a minimum of 40 minutes pumping with a sort of stirrup pump thing, 45 minutes to fill by hose and rain is forecast tomorrow.
I told her to go and have a shower.

Sounds inventive - great stuff.

Sounds like my flat.

Very envious of my friends with gardens at the moment but also means I don't have to worry about sunshades and baby getting burned.
