Dollius - Bono generates wealth for the economy by helping those who have hearing impairment to get into debt buying his useless mechandise and godawful music.

This then allows bankers to create credit money. Debt == Wealth.

He's just a puppet of the illuminati.

DilysPrice · 25/06/2011 13:05

What is the top rate of tax in Ireland these days? I had some sympathy for the Beatles and the Stones leaving the country in the days of 95% marginal taxation, because that really was taking the piss, but that isn't the case in Ireland at the mo is it? They've just decided to stop giving them a special tax break because they're such special creative snowflakes and they've thrown their toys out of the pram.

Ireland needs the money to keep nurses, teachers and binmen in their jobs, and Bono is a twat.

ninedragons · 25/06/2011 13:26

Why did Bono fall off the stage?

He stood too close to The Edge.

BitOfFun · 25/06/2011 13:41

How many U2 members does it take to change a lightbulb?

One. Bono holds the bulb, and the world revolves around him.

HerBeX · 25/06/2011 14:21

Oh I hate this bullshit hypocrisy about ti only being sensible and practical that Bono reduces his tax bill.

He has spoken out about the injustice in the way the world economic system is organised. It is utterly hypocritical of him, not to speak out about how the tax systems in rich developed countries, are organised so that the richest, most powerful people in those countries, can minimise their tax liabilities in a way that simply isn't possible for poor people in those countries. The rich have sown up tax systems in individual nation states, in exactly the same way as they've sown up trading and economic relations on a global basis. If he doesn't get that connection, he's thick.

And not to speak out on it, but to actually take advantage of it, instead of saying: "I'm rich, I can afford to pay taxes, everybody who is rich should and actually we should have a more progressive system so that poor people don't pay a proportionately higher percentage of their taxes than rich people do", is so incredibly hypocritical. It's like saying "the world trade system means that we rich white westerners benefit, we should take full advantage of it and get even lower coffee prices" but he doesn't does he, he says let's change the system because it's unfair. He can see the systemic injustice in one and rail against it, but he takes full advantage of the systemic injustice in the other. That's what makes him such a ludicrous figure.

I'm glad I found this thread. Was only saying to my DH yesterday what a hypocritical twat Bono was....

InTheSunshine · 25/06/2011 14:37

I love this thread.

I spent at least an hour ranting about Bonio Big Head last night. If he thinks he can save the fucking world then that's great but why doesn't he just get on and do it rather than preaching about it all the time. Sanctimonious knob head. And don't even start me on those glasses Grin

I like some of their songs. And even that makes me cross.

Did you hear him last night going on about his 'journey' to Glasto being a pilgrimage for him. I swear the rest of the band were rolling their eyes at him.

SinicalSal · 25/06/2011 14:47

well put HerBex.

I am shocked, shocked, I tell you, with all these womanising revelations. Andrea Corr! I really did think he was insufferably moralistic in a genuine way, rather than hypocritically.

Highlander · 25/06/2011 15:30

The Andrea Corr thing is widely known in Ireland.

whathellcall · 25/06/2011 16:11

Dontgocurly Boy, October and War were U2's first 3 albums, Under a blood red sky was just a live recording. Sorry, but as a lifelong U2 fan I couldn't let that one passWink. I have always loved their music and still do, and as for the preaching, I think if he has the power to influence people so be it, however as many others have pointed out the hypocrisy on the tax issue does not sit well with me.

turdass · 25/06/2011 16:39

This is a GREAT thread! Hurrah for the Bono haters! We will not be fooled!

donnie · 25/06/2011 19:13

scottishmummy · 25/06/2011 19:30

his massive ego and beady eyes
.....think of the kids they would allegedly have

OpusProSerenus · 25/06/2011 19:38

I may be wrong, so someone out there feel free to correct me if I am, but recently on a thread about charities some clever MNetter had linked to an articles about charities paying out scandalously low percentages of funds and Bono's charity was listed in it.

I think we would all respect him more if he did a bit less preaching and a bit more paying up.

scottishmummy · 25/06/2011 19:44

respect bono?thars an oxymoron if ever i heard one

Jellykat · 25/06/2011 19:47

See Eves link on the previous page Opus... You're not wrong there!

ChristinedePizan · 25/06/2011 19:50

My sister once spent quite a long time talking to him when U2 were barely known and she went to one of their gigs. She said he was really thick. I can entirely believe it

hester · 25/06/2011 21:10

HerBeX puts it brilliantly.

Sting is another twunt.

scottishmummy · 25/06/2011 21:15

chris martin and gwynnie.pasty faced preachy twats

donnie · 25/06/2011 21:55

OMG don't get me started on chris and gwyneth.

I made the fatal mistake of picking up her recipe/cookery book when I was in waterstone's the other day. Good God above - talk about vomit inducing po faced indulgent twattery......I honestly do wish she would just eat burgers, get fat and shut the fuck up.
