to think Bono is a total hypocrite and should pay real tax rather than lecturing others to contribute more to charity

I'm over 30 and I couldn't care less, in fact I think the whole line up this year (from what I've seen of it is crap).

Does anyone actually care really? I mean isn't it really the US that goes crazy over U2 for some unknown reason.

Ryoko · 24/06/2011 22:51

super injunctions = LOOK AT ME!, LOOK I DID SOMETHING!.

only an idiot would get one for anything it's a sure fire way to ensure far more interest is generated then would have been anyway.

wimpybar · 24/06/2011 22:53

at least they are actually playing LIVE music

I genuinely thought that I was the only person who thought Bono was a twat and a sanctimonious prick. Seems not. Hypocritical, aren't most of them. As Chris Evans pointed out just this week on the radio - John Lennon wrote "Imagine" whilst sitting in a fuck off great big mansion in Surrey, "imagine no posessions, its easy if you try", yeah super easy in a giant fuck off great big mansion Grin. That last bit by the way was not said by Mr Evans - don't want to get him in any more trouble!

SinicalSal · 24/06/2011 23:14

Never heard that about Bono and his love kids.

though as you say, the Irish media, etc. Hmmm.

kerstina · 24/06/2011 23:42

The crackfox is spot on with her comment. I have a very dim view of any mega rich person who tries to avoid paying their taxes. He is a hypocrite of the highest order.

PumpkinBones · 24/06/2011 23:58

Ooh, I just remembered my other favourite Mark E Smith quote (re: festival thread the other day), "If he'd have known about the way they burnt witches and that, Jesus would have been mad. But if Jesus had seen U2 he would have been very mad indeed. Jesus would throw bottles at U2"

I keep using U2 as a sort of mental antidote every time I wish I was at Glastonbury this year. I blame the BBC. Glastonbury was better when Channel 4 did the coverage.

maristella · 25/06/2011 00:17

although the proportion of my income i pay for my tv lisence is not huge, it's more than bono pays for anything he does not choose to, yet the tax dodging bastards are literally dominating tha glasto coverage. go away bono! only jo wiley is actually interested!

maristella · 25/06/2011 00:17

*license

RobF · 25/06/2011 00:20

Irish politicians are notoriously corrupt. Why would he want to pay more tax than he has to?

This doesn't excuse him bleating on about starving people though.

sharbie · 25/06/2011 00:24

love you wimpy - i think their first two albums were fab

shame they broke in u.s really

scottishmummy · 25/06/2011 00:26

bono is knob who flies a hat 1st class

edam · 25/06/2011 00:27

Such a relief to find so many other people who think Bono's an over-rated, pompous, tax-dodging hypocrite. Sod him and the plane he flew his hat in on.

scottishmummy · 25/06/2011 00:29

bono
chris martin & gwynnie
annoying smug preachy fuckers

chipmonkey · 25/06/2011 00:45

RobF, our politicians may be corrupt but to the best of my knowledge, tax paid does not go directly into their pockets. The tax that Bono should be paying here would cover a few doctor's salaries and some SNA's that are badly needed by some of our school children.

Morloth · 25/06/2011 04:15

Another vote for Bono is a Dick.

He can sing though, I have to give him that, the music is fantastic. But there is something about his face that makes me want to smack it.

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 25/06/2011 04:31

There are lots of reasons why Bono, for example, is a twat.

But the scandal at the heart of his RED charity is the one that makes me most cross.

You. Yes You Bono should be fucking ashamed of yourself.

donnie · 25/06/2011 09:02

What was the hat thing? I don't remember that.

What gets me is that U2 are so rich anyway - it's not like handing over shedloads of taxes is going to break the bank is it? I don't imagine The Edge and Bono are watching the pennies....

I do remember George Michael saying he was happy to love in the UK and pay his taxes a while back. Good old George.

Thought they sounded strong but that they were strangely disconnected from the audience last night.

donnie · 25/06/2011 09:02

'live' in the UK!

JoleneJoleneJoleneJoleeene · 25/06/2011 09:05

I heard rumours that him and a certain wily female radio dj were a gruesome twosome too

CrapolaDeVille · 25/06/2011 09:08

It's rather bizarre how fabulously wealthy people talk about the world's poor. Fuck me if Bono gave away just 25% of his own fortune he could help millions.

And the tax thing....well I guess he couldn't give a shit about the vital things the government provides.

sue52 · 25/06/2011 09:12

Men of his age should not wear so much leather. He is an annoying knob with a God complex.

ShirleyKnot · 25/06/2011 09:18

I feel as though I have found my home.

I do not like Bono.

slipperandpjsmum · 25/06/2011 09:20

I don't think the whole issue is about the rich avoiding paying tax its how this self righteous bastard has lectured us for years now he does this.

Totally agree with CrapolaDeVille if he gave away some of his wealth what a difference he could make. He wouldn't even feel it!!

When the super rich start talking about poverty it makes me want to throw up!!!
