It's not racist to say you can't understand a foreign accent.

When I have to speak to the Indian call center BT puts me through to, they are almost all very clearly spoken and no problem at all to understand.

When my Bank put me through to their one the other day, I couldn't make head nor tail of what was being said and both the person and I were very embarrassed.

The thread was not racist.

The title was harsh and unnecessary. An attempt at a humourous outpouring of anger which went awry.

I am not sure why MNHQ could not alter the title and leave the thread, but I have noticed they tend to take an all or nothing approach.

I can't understand practically every accent out there, I'm severely hearing impaired.

Hence why I prefer to use online methods, and I'm quite thankful they exist. Plus it's easy to use them.

I thought the title was over the top, but realised it wasn't to be taken literally and it didn't offend me. I suppose there were a lot of people who found it rather upsetting though, as there were clearly complaints.

MNHQ have got to do what they can to make this a welcoming place for people, and have to make judgement calls all the time, which I guess is often a thankless task.

I understand why you are frustrated, activate, but I have to say that I agree with BALD that your title is pretty discourteous.

I didn't think it was racist myself but the post title was pretty full-on by any standards, and the inestimable LeQueen was pretty... erm... testy with some of the posters.

I imagine someone got ver' miffed, probably the person whose Dad (?) worked at HSBC and didn't take kindly to the fact he should drown in a pool of red, red blood.

I dunno, I'd rather be called a cunt than be told that I should drown in a pool of blood. I've always wondered by bad language is censored in 12 cert films yet it's ok for action stars to gun down and eviscerate hundreds of people.

When "bad taste" titles have been pointed out previously the OP usually puts their hands up and says "sorry didn't mean to offend, I'll get it changed."

The OPs lack of empathy towards posters saying they found the title upsetting did not go down well.
