I can't be arsed to scroll back, to find out how we got here...but it's soooooo nice to talk history with someone Smile

We should have a History Thread...

I could contribute at least four reasons why King John angered the Barons circa 1200 if that's helpful?

lottiejenkins · 25/06/2011 00:11

@LeQueen

Justine it was my thread title...but as you can see, I have somewhat moved on, and we're now deep in the 15th century Smile

I don't care about the thread anymore, and it was me who started it Smile

Good. Me neither Smile.

Tudors are interesting. I also like the Victorian era, all the hypocrisy.

@LeQueen

Oh nooooooo, I was actually thinking about going to bed, and Justine has just seduced me back...

Go on then, give us your reasonings...[gets comfy, puts kettle on...]

Oh bugger.

OK

  1. He frequently sided against them in legal judgements
  2. He levied unfair taxes eg Scutage - a tax if they refused to raise armies for him
  3. He made peace with Phillip II in France (thereby losing their lands in France)
  4. He bumped off his elder brother's son (whose name I can't recall but who had better claim to throne) and wife (Isabelle?)
Glitterknickaz · 25/06/2011 00:20

Never did uni, but if I had History would have been my thing.
