What joyment is there to camp for 3 days in a mud pit, queue to use the toilet, stinking for 3 days and paying hundreds to see shit bands?
Or am I too old and like my conforts too much?

think of it this way - to go to a gig costs £40 appx.- you can camp for five days at glastonbury = 5*40 = £200 ...

Most big shows I've been to were actually much less value - fewer bands, more hassle, no camping after the fact, just the trip home....

Betty79 · 26/06/2011 18:42

I'd love to have been there, the rain and mud is all part of the fun. I wouldnt take the kids yet, but will do when they are a bit older. I dont think £200 is unreasonable considering people pay £80/£90 to see take that Hmm

KingofHighVis · 26/06/2011 20:09

I went a few times in the 90s and it was great fun. I know I wasn't particularly interested in any of the headliners and now have very little recollection of which bands I saw.

IIRC it was glorious sunshine every time I went and I spent most of my days rolling around in the stone circle area and most of the nights raving until the sun came up at Joe Banana's blanket stall.

Enjoy watching on tv these days, though I'm certainly not a fan of U2, Coldplay and Mumford. Janelle Monae and was awsome last and hope that this gives here the attention she deserves in this country.

feckymcfeckedoff · 26/06/2011 21:00

I went in 1985 when I was young and foolish, and you could camp wherever you wanted, there were no police allowed in, the toilets = holes in the ground, and any type of drug could be purchased at any time of the day or night, and the BBC weren't interested Shock Wink

Have to say i didn't enjoy it then (despite/because of the above?! The atmosphere just seemed a bit unfriendly/wankery compared to other festivals) and you'd have to pay me way more than £200 to go now.

If I recall the tickets cost £27 back when I were a nipper, not sure if that'd be worth 200 squid now, but even then it felt like a shed load.

Doowrah · 26/06/2011 21:49

I'm with jeckadeck went 3/4 x before the wall/inflated tickets...had a hoot but prefer it from my couch these days and I live in Glasto too!! Hi there tortoise and onemorning!!! Local lasses...yeahhh!

HidinginaHardHat · 26/06/2011 21:49

FIFIBEBE · 26/06/2011 22:23

I'm just pleased Beyonce and her dancers managed to keep all their waxing appointments.

RaahhfaNadalsMyToyboy · 26/06/2011 22:26

I was sceptical of Beyonce at Glastonbury- but there is no doubt the lady can can put on a show. Blimey Trickey brings back some memories! he's getting on a bit!

RaahhfaNadalsMyToyboy · 26/06/2011 22:58

and her version of Prince- The Beautiful ones is really quite good!

noddyholder · 26/06/2011 23:44

God she is amazing

Becauseiamworthit · 26/06/2011 23:55

She was amazing! DH is a bit disturbed about the extent of my female crush on her!!! I would only ever justify slumming it to see her. Otherwise give me luxury all the way Wink Loved her "s*x is on fire". Kings of Leon should be proud.

"Jo Wiley and Zane Lowe do not get on do they??? Just checking out the body language??" Ditto Lauren Laverne and Zane Lowe. He seems a humourless arse

sundayrose10 · 27/06/2011 00:01

Beyonce was AMAZING. Love her.

swingingcat · 27/06/2011 00:07

Beyonce, fantastic!

forehead · 27/06/2011 00:11

Beyonce was truly amazing, the girl works hard.

JeremyVile · 27/06/2011 00:15

God, LOVED Beyonce - and I didnt expect to.

Weird tension between lauren laverne and zane lowe i think.

scottishmummy · 27/06/2011 00:17

scottishmummy · 27/06/2011 00:22

or is that a *too far

Becauseiamworthit · 27/06/2011 01:00

Shock Wooowww.......scottishmummy really?? Yes you're right it isn't a bad word by any stretch of the imagination. Just awful habit on my part from a lifetime of trying to get emails through chaste email filters. So being cutesy doesn't come into it. Anyway back to Beyonce and Glastonbury........

NetworkGuy · 27/06/2011 07:22

I was rather surprised to see someone giving BIWI some grief for placing an asterisk in a word... I know it isn't common for people to self-censor, but it's hardly something to get wound up about, is it?

noddyholder · 27/06/2011 07:31

Zane lowe was doing his Beyonce isn't in the spirit of Glastonbury objection. He usually gets on with both. He is an arse !

cybboid · 27/06/2011 07:34

Nodders, j'agree

He tries to be sooo achingly 'cool' all the time, yet is a TOTAL windbag yakking on loving the sound of his own voice most of the time

Poor presenter

BEYONCE was amazing

cybboid · 27/06/2011 07:36

Why did Beyonce bring her Grandad out to sing Baby Boy with her?

he didnt know the words bless him

noddyholder · 27/06/2011 07:44

I think tricky was over awed He looked stunned by her. I really enjoyed the whole thing
