What joyment is there to camp for 3 days in a mud pit, queue to use the toilet, stinking for 3 days and paying hundreds to see shit bands?
Or am I too old and like my conforts too much?

Jean we went when the beastie boys were playing 95 I think we got back no tent was nicked. We tried kipping on the floor but in the end I went home

Onemorning Roads are busy closer to site. I'm far enough away not to be affected by traffic and I don't drive! Keep seeing people walk past with huge backpacks on!

MrsMellowDrummer · 24/06/2011 20:16

The last time we went, most of our possessions were nicked from our tent, and our friend had his tent stolen too...

There's nothing more surreal in the world than the "fuck me, where's my tent gone?" festival experience.

terribletriplets · 24/06/2011 20:20

I keep telling myself that no one forces them to be there. It is NOT a refugee camp. Some of them pay to be there.

TheHumanCatapult · 24/06/2011 20:20

bringmesunshine2009 · 24/06/2011 20:29

People call it 'Glasto'

Agggrrraah

xStarGirl · 24/06/2011 20:31

It was good when they used to have decent bands. I scoured the entire line-up for this year and saw about ten-fifteen artists I actually recognised, of which only about 3 were actually any good. I've wanted to go since I was tiny but have never been able to afford it Sad

xStarGirl · 24/06/2011 20:32

Go regularly to Glastonbury itself, however, and that is fab Grin

(Am referring to the town, to be clear. Jools Holland quite regularly plays the Abbey in late July/early August!)

Omigawd · 24/06/2011 20:54

Nowadays its just a corporate do with middle of the road music and crap facilities.

But, when I was young.... :)

The edgy stuff is elsewhere

OneHelluvaBroad · 24/06/2011 20:56

These days it's a corporate mainstream music hellhole full of pissed up eejits.

The last time I went was 2002 and it was getting that way then.

I didn't camp, btw. Fuck that for a game of laughs

usualsuspect · 24/06/2011 20:57

It was good back in the day ...

usualsuspect · 24/06/2011 20:57

oh and OP yabu

I'm sure theres stuff you enjoy doing that other people don't

maristella · 24/06/2011 21:07

Pumper I went in 95 and if Beasties were there that year I might actually sob! That was the year nobody could find the dance tent Confused

But aren;t Mumford & Sons such absolute fitties? Grin

maristella · 24/06/2011 21:08

usualsuspect oh yes it was....

igetmorelovefromthecat · 24/06/2011 21:11

I have a ticket waiting for me on site...was going to go on Tues but have 2 kids including one crawler and the mud has put me off so far. Going to brave it tomorrow, it's going to be beautiful weather for the rest of the weekend, the mud will dry and it will be fine.

VanillaRooibos · 24/06/2011 21:11

YANBU - the main reason I know I wouldn't like it is too crowded, and hate the thought of stinking disgusting toilets and not being able to have a shower. Maybe if I had a luxury winnebago and back stage pass. I went once when I was 16 and it was ok then, those were the days when you could just go under the fence. I didn't mind all the discomforts, I was just excited to go with my friends, get drunk and smoke my first bit of weed; (got hysterical, giggly, paranoid, got munchies, was sick and then passed out in that order) Was ok at 16, not ok in late 30s

usualsuspect · 24/06/2011 21:11

Well from what I can remember, which is not much Grin

maristella · 24/06/2011 21:14

same Grin

maristella · 24/06/2011 21:15

mind you if anyone thinks fetsival toilets are generally bad, the toilets at Glastonbury before security kept the extra 200000 out were just scary by the Monday, piles of poo peaked 2ft up from the seats!!!

CroissantNeuf · 24/06/2011 21:17

I went once and it was an experience.

I watch it every year on TV now though and love it -at least that way your booze doesn't get stolen, you don't have to wade through mud and you don't have to see naked drugs casualties lying spread-eagled in front of you

MotherMucca · 24/06/2011 21:18

YABU if U2 are your highlight.

PuzzleRocks · 24/06/2011 21:22

Glastonbury is naff.
Now Download or Sonisphere? It's like the mothership has called me back home.

microserf · 24/06/2011 21:25

YANBU!

usualsuspect · 24/06/2011 21:25
