I bought the book. Read the book. Loved the book... Until the abortion chapter. How can a woman who killed a healthy baby for no other reason that conveni

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/06/2011 17:42

Interesting that the OP has not returned to post, but is presumably checking regularly to report any posts she wishes removed ...

BitOfFun · 20/06/2011 17:43

Should I report the 'vicious harridans' one then, or shall we leave it for comedic effect?

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 17:43

So its ok for the pro life op to call this woman a cunt but not for us to call the op a cunt back.

is it ok that i am Laughing to myself for being called a "vicious harridan" because i am happy to be vocal in my support for that very poster to have "killed her unborn child" ?

Mamaz0n · 20/06/2011 17:46

ahh... I assume people called OP a cunt and they were deleted.

yes, well it would seem that Caitlin Moran isn't a recognised poster so its ok to personally attack her.

Odd. really really odd

GreenEyesandHam · 20/06/2011 17:48

'Vicious harridans' for defending a woman's right to choose to have a procedure you yourself chose?

Don't know where to start with that one Hmm Well nowhere, because I don't generally do personal so I'll leave it there

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/06/2011 17:50

I suppose "vicious harridan" is a promotion from the "nest of vipers" we are often called.

Lizzylou · 20/06/2011 17:50

Wonder if we should let Aitch know about this thread?
A roundup cert if ever I saw one.

adamschic · 20/06/2011 18:11

Her book looks great, will be buying it and passing it on to my teen Dd so thanks for drawing my attention to it.

TandB · 20/06/2011 18:24

I would comment but since the whole thread consists of "message deleted by Mumsnet" it is a bit difficult to follow.

TrilllianAstra · 20/06/2011 18:24

Well done LitR - this is not MN being against people suggesting that having an abortion might not be the nicest thing to do, this is us being against calling people selfish cunts for having one.

Threadworm8 · 20/06/2011 18:34

I don't think you've missed anything panda. All the deleted coments were along the intellectually dazzling lines of "fuck off and eat shit." Crappy OP, crappy responses, crappy thread.

BitOfFun · 20/06/2011 18:36

Sorry Threadworm

AitchTwoOh · 20/06/2011 18:37

missed all the deleted messages but a confused as to how the OP remains. CM is an MNer.

TrilllianAstra · 20/06/2011 18:38

Doesn't matter if she is a MNer or not, no-one should be called names for having an abortion.

Threadworm8 · 20/06/2011 18:39

Eek, sorry BoF. But as well as being disgusted with the 'selfish cunt' remark (not sure why that didn't get deleted), I felt almightily embarrassed by being on a site that generated some of the deleted responses. Not any of yours, I'm sure, and of course there are some good responses here too.

DiNammic · 20/06/2011 18:40

what an unkind thread.

AitchTwoOh · 20/06/2011 18:41

oh yes, agreed TA. but esp given that she is/was an MNer, it's quite a clear rule-break iykwim? tim dowling, for example, was allowed to be called a twat, which is still a personal attack.

Mamaz0n · 20/06/2011 18:41

Agreed Aitch.

I can't see why it doesn't fall under the same rules as those in the delted messages.
In fact i would say it is worse, the deleted messages were aimed at an anonymous posting name, the op was a personal attack on a named individual.

Can't see why it is ok but the replies not

AitchTwoOh · 20/06/2011 18:42

anyway, i do think she's great and am really glad for her that she wasn't troubled by her decision not to continue with a pregnancy that she didn't want. that's the ideal, isn't it? women making the best decisions for themselves and their existing families.

DiNammic · 20/06/2011 18:43

luckily afaik CM doesnt read slagging on here
( remembers lourdes eyebrows thread)

wise advice i follow when needs be ( ahem)

TrilllianAstra · 20/06/2011 18:44

Maybe (wild guessing here) it is better to have an attack remain and see it being roundly shouted down and disagreed with, than to hear a rumour of a nasty thread about oneself but not see it because it was deleted (and so not realise that it was just one nasty person and everyone else is on your side).

flippinada · 20/06/2011 18:48
Hmm

This is the unpleasant side of the pro-lifer. Tossing out all sorts of horrible insults to people who say they are pro choice (baby killer being a favourite one, seen it on here), then acting outraged when pro-choicers react.

They seem to think its acceptable to have had an abortion though if you appear to be continually wringing your hands with despair/shame/guilt (not sure how that works if you are pro life because you either think its a life or you don't).

If you have had an abortion and actually feel ok about it then you are the personification of heartless evil.
