Commmmeee onnnnnn.
It isn't exactly the hardest thing to spell.
I am exercising my restraint to not comment on them and tell them it is wrong.
Normally I can handle wrong spellings, but seriously?

It's one of those words I always question myself on like loose/lose, choose/chose, but I know it looks wrong to put the r in when I write it down.

But how would you know it's the wrong spelling unless you know?

I put it squarely at the feet of broken britain Grin

TheStallionOfSensibleness · 19/06/2011 11:26

facebook for illiterates

there you are

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/06/2011 11:27

It doesn't take much to set you off does it, OP? Think of your blood pressure... Confused

pfbornot · 19/06/2011 11:28

Facebook is evil! Delete yourself!

TurkeyBurgerThing · 19/06/2011 11:34

Could they be doing it from a TwatPhone? TwatPhones like to spell out the wrong words to make people look like idiots.

Then again perhaps they are idiots? My spelling is pretty dire but even I can spell father!

smug

purepurple · 19/06/2011 11:34

My favourite was a work colleague writing 'human bean' Cheered me up all day.

wimpybar · 19/06/2011 11:35

rofl at human bean Grin

scuzy · 19/06/2011 11:36

the one that i hate the most is more spoken than written ... "he learnt me how to drive" instead of taught. grrrr!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/06/2011 11:37

That would make a good username on here...

Grin
AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/06/2011 11:38

Oh scuzy dont get me started! I work at ELC and I really have to bite my tongue when people ask me for toys that "learn their children"

scuzy · 19/06/2011 11:40

resists urge to point out OP's spelling of "come on" .... i'm only teasing!

ThingsThatGoBuzzInTheNight · 19/06/2011 11:40

OP, I would say that YABU....not exactly a biggy is it? PISSED OFF is quite an emotive response to a very minor offence. And I would think, as you are talking about many people, that the correct apostrophe usage would be Fathers' Day. But then I can be a tad pedantic at times.

Am loving human bean Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/06/2011 11:41

OK, while we're on this subject, can I please have your opinions on the change of job titles at work? We used to be Education Officers. Now we're Learning Officers. This pisses me off because we do the teaching, the children do the learning and we're not the children. I think it's incorrect but they won't have it. Who is right?

Sorry for hijack!

scuzy · 19/06/2011 11:42

that is strange Gwen i agree with you. doesn't sound right at all!

redexpat · 19/06/2011 11:45

Purepurple - perhaps they just read the BFG by Roald Dahl?

MetalSian · 19/06/2011 11:50

Human bean is great =D.
Maybe 'pissed off' is a slight bit over the top ;P.
But still... maybe they seem to think there is a day for people for going farther than before.
Happy farther's day.
Then again would that not be further.

=D

OP posts:
garlicnutter · 19/06/2011 11:55

Perhaps it's a subtle hint that they wished their fathers were further away? Wink

purepurple · 19/06/2011 11:57

redexpat, no, they just can't spell Grin
Which is why she keeps going on about jordies in Newcastle.

MetalSian · 19/06/2011 12:12

And another person just did it =[.
I think I am going to just try and blank the rest out for the day xD.

I just don't get when it is advertised so much how they can keep getting it wrong.

OH wellllllll.

OP posts:
DontCallMeBaby · 19/06/2011 12:16

DD's card to DH wishes him a 'happy farfers day'. I have no idea what a farfer is. Still, it's a slight improvement on last year's 'farver'.

ineedabodytransplant · 19/06/2011 12:52

went to my nephews 18th birthday party last Saturday. On the big screen they were showing his photos as he grew up, some with titles.

One said he preferred lager...they spelt it larger!!!

YANBU. How thick are your friends?

kickingking · 19/06/2011 13:00

My Facebook favourite is somebody who has put their maiden name in their FB profile name - as in, Sarah Brown (formerly Smith). Fair enough, makes it easier for old friends to find her.

Except she's spelt it Sarah Brown, formally Smith.

So she's Sarah Smith for formal occasions then? Confused

ComeWhineWithMe · 19/06/2011 13:04

No the one that pisses me off is "Gawjuss"

Also "Discusted" and just lately people have started with "I canny wait" rather than "I can't wait". Angry
