Shock Oh my God, that's terrifying!

VivaLeBeaver · 23/04/2012 17:11

I've gone icy cold reading that last one.

sootie · 23/04/2012 17:31

oh my goodness...I'm home alone with my baby with shivers down my spine reading that yellowwellies. I'm off out to get DD from nursery!

DeathByChocolate01 · 23/04/2012 17:52

Yaay I'm glad this thread has been resurrected, I love freaking myself out with scary stories! Although since finding out that something like 2/3 of the population experience mild hallucinations at some point, it is easier to reassure myself that you're all just seeing things. Wink

Sorry - a long first post. Been lurking for ages....

I've had a fair few incidents in my house. Lived here since 1999 and can't remember anything happening before my dc were born.

One of the most memorable incidents was around four years ago when when ds1 was 7. I was sitting on his bedroom floor with my back to his doorway, he was facing me. He was chatting away to me but stopped and said "who's that boy?" He was craning to see behind me out through his doorway. I asked what he'd seen, and he said a boy with curly blonde hair, no clothes on, just came rushing up the stairs and ran into the bathroom. I jumped up and went into the bathroom but it was empty. My ds thought it was spooky but funny that the 'boy' was naked.
We often hear running around upstairs when the boys are asleep. One evening about two years ago dh and I were watching a dvd in the dark and a little blonde head of hair kind of peered round the living room door, dh got up thinking it was ds2 coming down after a nightmare, but it wasn't. Dh went upstairs to check and both ds were sparko.
One night last winter I was standing at ds2's bedroom door saying goodnight to him. All upstairs lights were off apart from nightlights. I felt dh creep up behind me and as I was startled I turned around to push him away and there was a black shadow the size of my dh and I screamed - but had to calm myself down as I didn't want to freak out the dcs.
I've been pottering around at home by myself and smelt cigarette smoke at the foot of the stairs a couple of times.
Last month dh was on an evening out, both ds were asleep and I was on couch, cat on lap, watching The Apprentice. I heard what sounded like a rumbling growl about two feet away from me, as I heard the sound my cat awoke and looked at the spot where the sound came from. I actually thought I was going to be sick with fear. I paused the tv, flicked the light on, and just sat there for ages trying to work out what it could have been - I still have no idea.
On Monday this week, dh was washing up after tea, I was sitting at the table nearby with ds1 and ds2. Dh was wearing his mp3 player and was oblivious to me and boys chattering away. We were (rather cruelly) taking the mickey out of dh cos he was miming away and looked hilarious, he couldn't hear us thankfully. Then we heard what sounded like a saxophone play five slow notes, it was really loud just next to myself and dc, I said to boys "What the hell is that?" and we just looked at each other in disbelief and started shouting and gesturing to dh to get his earplugs out and tried to describe what had happened. We've been talking about it since and it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I even snatched dh's mp3 off him to hear what he was listening to in case the 'notes' had somehow come out of his earplugs. Absolutely baffled.

Great thread am also glad it's resurrected Smile

I'm a spiritualist medium and have seen and heard all sorts. I don't hold much fear though but can still get spooked on the odd occasion, usually at some relic on a ghost hunt. And usually with spirit that I wouldn't normally associate with Wink You get people going on ghost hunts just for fun which is understandable but not what I'm into. I have total respect for spirit. I don't go on them now I just go to Church.

Some things I've seen in a private circle have been truly amazing. It really is a blessing and privilege to work for spirit.

I know a lot of people don't believe and tbh I don't blame them. It does sound nuts when you've not had any real proof. I think we should all be free to believe what we want as long as we don't force it on others or try to con people with it.

Cravey · 18/05/2012 23:14

Can I please beg those of you thinking of working the board please don't. If you believe then you really don't know who you have coming throu and if you don't these things can mess with your head. Fwiw I am a believer and part of my job involves cleansing people's homes and auras. Most of these people who need cleansing have messed around with boards just before contacting me x

holmesgirl · 19/05/2012 00:46

Oh dear, why did i start reading this in bed now. Goosebumps galore :-\

beatenbyayellowteacup · 19/05/2012 06:29

I don't believe in ghosts, but I do think there are things about our universe that we don't yet understand.

One thing that I can't explain away is this:

Was living in student halls (a long time ago). One friend came home in the afternoon and started telling a story about seeing an attractive girl in the car next to him at the lights. Every sentence he said I had already heard, word for word, to the point where I actually said, "Yeah, yeah, you told us this story yesterday".

He said it had only just happened that afternoon.

holmesgirl · 19/05/2012 08:46

I have a story. During my younger wilder days I once went back to a hotel with a guy I'd been seeing after we had been out clubbing. He was snoring really loud and as it was a twin room I decided to get in the other adjacent bed. In the morning I woke up and was being spooned by snory boy and thought 'oh he must have climbed in with me during night' but - he felt icy cold. All of this happened in one second; I just had a horrible thought of 'when I turn over he better not be in his own bed' which I did - and he was :( The presence and sensation disappeared as I turned over.

The funny thing is I didn't wake him up afterwards. I just turned my bedside light on and thought 'shit, what was that!'. My heart was racing.

The hotel was an old one and when I looked on it's website it did mention being haunted :(

thecook · 19/05/2012 11:34

The only time I ever witnessed anything was last Halloween. My friend and I went to Highgate village. We had a couple of beers in a pub along with a meal (I was not pissed either!). My mate asks me to show him Highgate cemetery. So we walked down Swains Lane for a bit and then came back up. On approaching the North Gate I saw what appeared to be 'white wisps' being pulled through the railings of the North Gate. I shouted 'Look' then ran to the gate. A man walking his dog came down the hill. When he got level with the gate the dog went beserk and starting straining on his lead so much the man had to go back up the hill.

Charliefox · 20/05/2012 13:47

I have recently had a weird experience. All happened about 6 months ago. Never had anything ghostly happen in my life until this point. Started with a distinctive smell appearing suddenly then vanishing just as suddenly. No pattern to it but maybe once a month or so. Took me a while to start thinking how strange it was. Then I started hearing voices. Then started having a sensation of someone/thing blowing in my face. I very strong sensation too. It was as though someone/thing was trying to get my attention, using increasingly strong ways of doing so. I used to stay awake with the lights on til 3/4 in the morning, as I was terrified to be in the dark. Was an awful period of time but has all stopped now. Fingers crossed! And I'm a perfectly grounded, ordinary human being, with absolutely no desire to see/hear/feel wierdy beardy things!

CuriousMama · 20/05/2012 17:17

That's not nice Charilefox I hope it doesn't happen again? Tell them to go away and ask your door keeper to protect you if it does. Not that anything bad will happen just it's inconvenient, they should bother those who aren't freaked by it and can communicate not you.

thegreylady · 20/05/2012 17:35

I may have told this story much earlier in the thread before I name changed. Many years ago my next door neighbour aged 16 took an overdose after a row with a boyfriend. She was in hospital for weeks and I asked her mum for bulletins regularly. One day mum said that the girl seemed better and had squeezed her hand. About 3 evenings later I glanced out of our landing window and saw the girl in her back garden. She was wearing a white summer dress with a pink cardi tied round her shoulders. She seemed to have fake tan on her face but otherwise looked normal. I told my dh and he just said 'that was quick ' and we thought no more.
The next day I learned that the girl had died around the time I saw her. In the hours before her death her jaundice had deepened on her face.
After a while I casually asked her mum if there had been a cousin or other relative visiting that evening. Eventually I told my neighbour what I had seen. She showed me an unworn summer dress and pink cardi that the girl had bought for a date with the boyfriend. They were the ones she was wearing when I saw her. The mum found my story very comforting. I wasn't afraid at all-it was so real.

CuriousMama · 20/05/2012 17:47

thegreylady that's amazing.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 20/05/2012 18:02

Don't normally believe in woo or wafty stuff but recently a friends dog was
Sadly pts and shortly after this happened, half an hour or so my other friends daughter aged 2 who knew the dog quite well was chatting away to it in the back of the car on the school run, kept
Saying get down x, x is licking me etc etc. for about 10 mins then x is gone now..... She had no idea the dog was even ill, nor has it ever been in the car with her. No explanation other than the dog was saying goodbye.

AllYoursBabooshka · 20/05/2012 18:19

DH is as sceptical as they come but he had a paranormal experience when he was in his teens.
He and his friends had decided to spend the night camping near some church ruins in their village. It was a bit of a dare really. Theyd been there a few hours and as it got dark DH says they started to hear faint music, like church music. It got louder and louder and seemed to swell around them. DH says he has never seen a group of teenage lads move so fast. Two decided to stay (they were double dared, lovely and mature!) but left after their tent randomly caught fire!

I have never had anything happen to me. My deeply sceptical dad has had a number of premonitions though and is beginning to be less sceptical! Only premonitions about family members not world events like earthquakes.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 20/05/2012 19:34

I have never seen a spirit or had anything that freaky happen, but I have one very vivid memory that sticks in my mind. It happened when I was 15 or 16, so many years ago, when I was staying at my best friends house. We were in her Mums bedroom getting ready to go out, and my friend went into the bathroom. I looked out of the bedroom window and clearly saw two parallel lines of fire coming up from the ground. They were huge, and I stood there watching for ages. When my friend came out of the bathroom she saw them too, bit somehow she thought nothing of it because she was so busy getting ready. I moved away from the window and when I went back they were gone.

I have no idea what it was, but I know it was something.

alwaysbloodyworried · 14/06/2012 17:01

I was reading this in bed last night when I couldn't sleep as I've been poorly (got the flu). Was royally freaking myself out whilst the DH slept soundly next to me. About half way down I needed the loo and was too much of a fraidy cat to get up and go in the dark so I turned my bedside lamp on. No sooner had I flicked the switch than the filament in the lightbulb went pop. That freaked me out as I only put a new bulb in last week. Freaking out, I leant over DH and put his lamp on. Same thing happened. I seriously considered just getting back in bed and hunkering down until daybreak but I really needed that wee. So I did get out into the hall and put the hall light on. Seconds later it went out, tripping the whole flat!!! I nearly wet myself. Had to wake DH up and get him to go and deal with the fuse box with a torch as I was too scared.

Great thread though!! Grin

stinkymice · 14/06/2012 21:30

Scared myself silly reading this great thread! I was just petting my dog in the kitchen thinking how great he is and how he would warn me to any bad presence in the house ( I am scared of my staircase) when the cat suddenly bolted in through the cat flap...I screamed! Blush

Sparklyblue · 30/07/2012 12:48

I have had a few spooky things happen to me, the most recent one was last month.
I was getting ready to go to bed, my dh was on nights, so only myself and my 2 dd at home.
I was going round the house closing the windows. I went to the end of my kitchen and closed the last window, walked passed my back door and had just got to the end of the kitchen table, when I heard a knock at the back door window. The mop handle (which had been facing the other way) had knocked the window. It made me look at the handle and I realised my back door was not locked. I just said thanks and locked the door.
I told my husband about it the next day, he said walking past it might have caused it to fall on to the window, so we put the mop in its original position and jumped up and down at the same time. It didn't move at all.
I believe it was my Grandad helping me, saying "come on Sparkly, lock your door" Grin

I love to read other peoples experiences Smile

I've never seen figures like others have mentioned, but very recently in my bedroom I've started to see the air next to my bed become shimmery which is hard to describe. It's always cold and looks a bit like something you'd see in a movie shot of a hot desert - like this [http://skullsinthestars.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/shimmer2.jpg]
At first I thought we might have a gas leak etc but had it all checked and all is well.

Sometimes I feel added weight on top of my quilt as if something is sitting on it when you pull on the quilt it sometimes remains heavy and other times it will quickly disappear. My partner is rather sceptic of this stuff, but even he notices it.

I have a dressing table in the bedroom with a mirror directly above it on the middle of the wall. Last year I found what looked like wallpaper paste dripping down the wall. Couldn't work out any reason for it.

The two dogs we have quite often bark at empty door frames and at the stairs.
