AIBU?

To think you are all bullies on here and very foul

Decided after being here for a whole month how hostile you are to newbies and how bitchy you are.
I've never heard so much swearing in my life and you call yourself adults?
So I'm off to Netmums to a more mature forum.
Have fun insulting each other :)

I would love an Alan. I'd laminate it and have it in my front garden to freak out the old ladies in the village.

SpringHeeledJack - every time you go in there? You have to stop and do the obligatory mugging with the cut out? What a fantastic mental image that is. Grin Do you have a phrase for it ' like 'doing an alan'?

If you've been hurt by stuff on here OP, then I'm sorry for you, and hope you will find company you find more conducive elsewhere.
I've found it good here, though have had a slightly bumpy ride on one or two threads, especially when I was explaining my sympathy with one type of parenting style ( as I seem to recall) - I forget what it was called now.

Anyhow I think people can have pretty strong views around here, and sometimes seem to all gang up together just a little. That can be intimidating for newbies.
Feel the love, OP, it is here, honest ! Grin
( though perhaps not super-abundantly forthcoming on this thread, from what I've read )

I've been here about 6 months. I've been disagreed with. I've been ignored. I've received good advice. I've given advice (up to others to judge the quality). I have laughed. I have cried. Not sure if I've sworn myself but it certainly doesn't bother me when others do so. I have never been bullied.

Am I in a parallel universe?

well, no, it's not as obv as that, omni

I just sort of get odd tools and show them to Alan, and then say "oops, there you are, dp" etc etc

I am quite annoying, to be honest

but 'appy

I shall miss the OP. I like her oddly Shakespearean turn of phrase. We are 'very foul', she has a point there.

This is honestly the very first time I have ever spat anything over my laptop. It was wine, incidentally. And in fairness, I thought your post was funny when I read it, but then a minute or so later the phrase 'very foul' popped back into my head and that's when the spitting occurred.

Sorry to hijack - I just wanted to say thank you Grin

I have to say (in all seriousness) I have recently witnessed some very nasty bullying on here of late, however the Op in this case is simply lying not being truthful: not all newbies are bullied on Mumsnet.

Op - you are on a wind-up. Desist.

I apparently upset someone earlier on but I didn't mean to. I was actually trying to be protective of some nice people on this forum. Sometimes things don't work out right but it doesn't mean that people's intentions are bad.

There are threads going on right now where women are being supported.

I think the vast majority of MNetters know the difference between a post that's asking for help, and a post that's just chucking out an idea and asking for opinions.
