Bloody hell, I seem to be surrounded by people that think they are going to die when they are 103 in bed surrounded by their loved ones!

Agent and anyone else who wondered about what docs are necessary to make a will;

The answer is no documents whatsoever. Most of my clients are in their 30s and it's extremely unlikely that their financial situation will be the same when they pop off (probably in their 80s).

Once the will has been executed, the original is put into safe storage, eg with the Probate Service, a bank, or solicitors' office. It is helpful to keep a list of savings, endowment policies etc with the copy will at home, but not essential.

I have a paid for advert under Small Businesses in the Classified section of mumsnet ("Will Writing Service recommended by Mumsnetters") if anyone wants to mosey over there.

I have life insurance which will pay out when I die. My will says funeral expenses along with debts are to be paid by my executors out of my estate. I don't particularly care what my funeral is like, I mean I know what I think a nice funeral entails but I will be dead and will know nothing about it.

... I am currently looking at funeral plans for my Mum - she is still alive but is in a Nursing Home and we need to make sure that she has enough money to cover these expenses before her money runs out on Nursing home fees...

...just so you know I am getting quotes back from between £2,000 - £5,000 for a standard plan - simple box, ceremony, cremation etc etc etc - that's excluding any of the "afters"....

Oh I know Trident, it's as good a racket as the wedding business.

Oh dear. I haven't done a will yet or made any provisions for my funeral. They're both things that I just sort of ignore in the hope that they'll go away.

I haven't sorted out a pension either. OP is going to give me a telling off for that one, for sure.

It's so easy to make a will! It literally takes me 20 to 30 minutes to take instructions, all the client has to do is give me various names and addresses for executors etc.

I must admit though, that as plumbers taps always drip, our wills were 10 years out of date until recently Blush

I don't have a pension either after being persuaded into opting out of my old Civil Service pension.

Olifin, funny enough i'm not worried about my pension ( i do have one ) and I should be as if i make it to old age then I need to make sure I can switch on the heating and buy the odd box of Leonidas chocs I just dont want to die and leave a kerfuffle behind is all.

I have life insurance, a will and have written down all my wishes for the funeral itself including the service and wake Blush

Thanks for answering HackedOff, Pumper () and mumblechum, so it's more of a general overview of what you want to happen to your assets, rather than a specific distribution of them (apart from the bits you have in mind to leave to someone in particular).

It's spurred us on to have another talk about it, although whether we'll get our arses in gear to actually do something about it is another matter.

I think what stops me is that when I'm prioritising stuff to do, a will would be after cleaning out the 'crap cupboard', so I'd have to be well up on my mental list of jobs to get round to it.
