For about the first 30 years of my life, 'source' was almost exclusively a noun. Now it's almost exclusively used as a verb - why?

Which "Little book of management crap" decided that the new way to say "From now" or "In the future" is "Moving forward". If I hear it one more time I will scream and pull my hair out. Which other way would we be moving, when it comes to time?

I'd like to task you with this...

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2011 23:08

I suppose it depends how it's done though. My boss quickly whizzes through my stuff adding her comments and sends it to me to finalise. Whereas if your boss thinks she's dotted all the is and crossed the ts, you might feel awkward taking the apostrophe out of her "it's" :o

I am just looking through my cupboard deciding which pieces from my carefully curated work wardrobe I will be wearing tomorrow

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2011 23:12

Maybe a stripy trouser and a laced shoe?
Then you could wear half a skirt and a welly on your other half and look like a clown

WillieWaggledagger · 15/06/2011 23:14

oh yes I can see the problem with the added 'moving forward'

she's a funny one about spellings. it was the word 'liaising/liaise' which she had changed to 'liasing/liase' throughout - she would def had notice if i'd changed it back before sending out to clients. you are right though i was a wimp.

NonnoMum · 15/06/2011 23:14

Well, it seems like we're all singing from the same hymn sheet...

Nospringflower · 15/06/2011 23:14

Sorry, not read it all but think I am up to speed now.

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2011 23:16

Now up to speed is part of my vocabulary Blush
And I always spell liaise wrong - I do know how to spell it but my fingers don't agree there should be that second i when typing

This thread has reminded me that one day my maternity leave will end and I will have to listen to people saying these things again, I prefer the endless discussions about poo that you get at playgroup to actually talking shite Sad.

At times we used to make team meetings marginally more interesting by playing buzzword bingo - you had a grid with all the usual park it, flag it, blue sky thinking, etc and a bonus phrase, the one which sticks in my memory is 'swing a chihuahua' and someone did find a way to squeeze it into conversation without giving the game away!

biological · 15/06/2011 23:31

v funny book ticks all the boxes & pushes the envelope, whilst remaining on the same page.

DaisySteiner · 15/06/2011 23:36

Let's look for opportunities to repurpose this content and leverage it across multiple platforms.

TeenieLeek · 16/06/2011 02:56

Thank you for looping me in to this. However I must go now as I need to turn a document around.

TantePiste · 16/06/2011 03:26

I think we should take this conversation offline, so that we can really drill down, but tomorrow is no good for me as i will be out of pocket. It is what it is.

5DollarShake · 16/06/2011 03:27

'Task' is the new it-verb.

I'd like to task you with spear-heading this initiative.

5DollarShake · 16/06/2011 03:28

I just don't have the bandwidth to take this on right now.

TantePiste · 16/06/2011 03:28

Lets push out the next iteration to the stakeholders.

TantePiste · 16/06/2011 03:30
