For about the first 30 years of my life, 'source' was almost exclusively a noun. Now it's almost exclusively used as a verb - why?

Which "Little book of management crap" decided that the new way to say "From now" or "In the future" is "Moving forward". If I hear it one more time I will scream and pull my hair out. Which other way would we be moving, when it comes to time?

StealthPolarBear If yourself is going to be empowered to action these strategies, yourself will have to proactively utilise 110% of your joined up thinking. Are we all on board?

MarisCrane · 15/06/2011 22:43

Have we managed to get all the key stakeholders together on this thread now?

WillieWaggledagger · 15/06/2011 22:45

anyfulekno we no longer cascade things - we waterfall them

FairhairedandFrustrated · 15/06/2011 22:45

I hate "I'll come back to you on that"

BusinessBarbie · 15/06/2011 22:46

I think this thread has jumped the shark, tbh.

chubbly · 15/06/2011 22:46

KR - kind regards (i think)!

BelleDameSansMerci · 15/06/2011 22:49

Jumped the shark??!!

I thought I knew (and used Blush) most of this shite but that's a new one for me.

bejeezus · 15/06/2011 22:50

LOLOLOL!

I write all these irritatingisms in the back of my dairy when people say them in meetings---i need a new one now

dearprudence · 15/06/2011 22:51

This thread speaks to the feelings we all share about management-speak.

"speaks to" is the latest fad phrase in my company. I refuse to join in.

bejeezus · 15/06/2011 22:52

loldiary

perfumedlife · 15/06/2011 22:52

Grin Havn't laughed so much in ages. Thank fuck i no longer work in an office.

WillieWaggledagger · 15/06/2011 22:52

i think things like kr and bw come from smartphone use probably. because the buttons and screen are small it can be easier to keep things shorter. no excuse of course - many of us still manage to write in full

dearprudence · 15/06/2011 22:53

But we can't all be arsed to use capital letters, eh Willie? Wink

oldsilver · 15/06/2011 22:54

We need to ramp this up ... eh??? Always thought that was something you rode your skateboard down.

WillieWaggledagger · 15/06/2011 22:55

arf - fair point pru

bosch · 15/06/2011 22:55

I reeaally hate 'we are where we are' - yes we've made a complete mess of this piece of work and nobody is going to take the rap AGAIN.

However I'm looking forward to using 'jumping the shark' at work!

And (although I accept kr is appalling) why is 'kind regards' acceptable anyway? It makes my skin crawl. I've never wished anybody kind regards in my life.

Monty27 · 15/06/2011 22:56

Since when did people inbox each other?

OMG.........

dexifehatz · 15/06/2011 22:56

Listen,I'm hearing what you're saying, but can I just have a rough guesstimate,a ball park figure, vizaviz the finalisation of this thread, mkay?

Happymm · 15/06/2011 23:00

I think we should all meet up and have a thought shower about moving forward on this. Diaries anyone? :o

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2011 23:02

I have written a report. One of my manager's corrections included "moving forward". It now has to stay (because if I change it to something less cringey I will look petty) and now that report has THAT phrase in it with MY name on the bottom.

BelleDameSansMerci · 15/06/2011 23:04

SPB Grin

It'll be ok "in the round".

WillieWaggledagger · 15/06/2011 23:05

SPB someone senior to me changed the spelling of a word throughout a report of mine to an incorrect spelling. i spent ages dithering about whether to change it back or not (I did correct it but chickened out a bit by sending her the version with her misspellings)

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2011 23:06

I have to admit I haven't heard of many of these (and have never been wished "KR")
Is there a course I can go on?
Maybe I could run one? "How to make yourself sound pseudo intelligent and make MNers cringe"

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2011 23:07

oh WW you wimp! I always correct stuff and I'd want her to do that for me. It's just the "moving forward" comment wasn't actually wrong, just awful :o
