I found it a tadge patronising.

You?

Maybe pictures of boobs of all shapes and sizes should be plastered on walls everywhere to desensitize people to their alluring ways.
I've never had negative comments when I feed in public, but I know a few people who stopped bfing altogether because they were so stressed about feeding in public.
Perhaps we should all go out to feed our babies en masse wearing skimpy burlesque costumes, it would be easier to be confident about feeding them in normal clothes :o
(I'm joking btw)

Even if I don't understand the reasoning behind partnering burlesque and breastfeeding, I do applaud anyone who has the gumption to actually get up and do something about promoting anything they are passionate about.

Esian · 16/06/2011 11:31

This is my idea of a promotional video - it's absolutely beautiful but couldn't imagine it being shown in the UK.

faverolles · 16/06/2011 11:34

Eslan, your link won't let me see the video, please could you tell me what to search for on YouTube :)

d0gFace · 16/06/2011 11:39

Dar La Teta Es Dar Vida is the title of the video.

The cows confused dp.:)

BlooferLady · 16/06/2011 11:40

Esian - really beautiful, thanks for posting that.

Esian · 16/06/2011 11:40

ooh sorry -

If that doesn't work it's called 'Dar La Teta Es Dar Vida' on you tube.

belgo · 16/06/2011 11:41

That's a lovely video Eslan.

And I agree, I can't ever imagine it being shown in the UK.

faverolles · 16/06/2011 11:42

Thankyou :)

MillyR · 16/06/2011 11:42

Amazing video, Eslan.

TandB · 16/06/2011 11:56

I just don't understand the point of this video. Breastfeeding needs to be seen as something normal, not as some sort of "sexy, sassy" display.

Plenty of narrow-minded people already think that those who BF in public are exhibitionists - I don't see how this video helps with that perception.

Perhaps I am missing the point, but I don't really see how women dressed as Burlesque dancers and a man with lists of names for boobs really promotes breastfeeding.

IntergalacticHussy · 16/06/2011 11:57

it's enough to put anyone off!

WorzselMummage · 16/06/2011 12:05

Esian that video is wonderful!

Longtalljosie · 16/06/2011 12:06

Virginia and assorted dancing girls all of whom have better boobs than me

It's not the sort of thing which would appeal to me but I'm not everybody. Anything which will appeal to women considering breastfeeding (and I note and give due weight to the comment at the bottom which said it made them feel more positive about bf than any educational ads) is a good thing in my book.

I'm guessing you're taking on the stereotype of breastfeeding as being rather earnest and po-faced. Which I think you've probably done. I'm not sure about the cows though tbh, I think recutting it without them might be an idea?

But very well done. You've done more for the cause than I have. And if I was wearing a hat, I'd take it off for you Smile

mummamizz · 16/06/2011 12:37

Thank you longtalljosie lovely post you definitely seem to have got the right idea it works for some and others it doesn't eh.

d0gFace · 16/06/2011 12:46

"I'm guessing you're taking on the stereotype of breastfeeding as being rather earnest and po-faced."

breastfeeding has that stereotype?

Puppetlady · 16/06/2011 12:48

Anyone else sick to death of burlesque ?
What a shame such a serious subject has to be tainted with such banality.

Puppetlady · 16/06/2011 12:50

Thank you Kungfupanda.

I think you expressed what I was trying to say rather well.

thelittlefriend · 16/06/2011 13:08

Esian, that video makes me long to have another dc to breastfeed!

BornSicky · 16/06/2011 13:11

why is it that in order to sell anything to anyone, especially (weirdly) women, does it have to be made "sexy"?

burlesque is about tantilisation, strip tease... what has that got to do with breastfeeding?

now, if the women involved wanted to do something with the idea of Vintage, which they also wear, then why didn't they? lots of fun, as well as being "cool".

just very annoyed that again women sexualise themselves to promote a fundamentally good message. it's about as bloody annoying as the wopmen on the apprentice making and being proud of a Lads Mag.

The most ridiculous thing I have even seen.

MilaMae · 16/06/2011 13:27

I agree and the cows Hmm,"formula is junk food" oh do get a life.

buttonmoon78 · 16/06/2011 13:32

Eeeew.

That's about the burlesque thing, not about bf. It was horrible and cringeworthy! I think it struck totally the wrong note.

I'm not very good at bf - I will be trying again next month with dc4 but don't expect a very good outcome again. But I will be trying as whether 5 days, weeks or months, any amount is better than none.

The video Esian posted was lovely. Extended feeding is not something that has ever appealed to me, but that at least made it look normal instead of the lentil weavery reputation it seems to have!

ItsNotUnusual · 16/06/2011 13:33

Esian - that is beautiful.

It's made me sad tho because my 2 year old seems to have given up breastfeeding a week ago. He's lost interest as I am 22 weeks pregnant and my supply has dropped.
Feeding a toddler has been so much more fun that I could have imagined but that video captures it.

BornSicky · 16/06/2011 13:39

just watched the clip from Esian. that's a fab film - gave me a little happy tear!
