I have 2 cats and an elderly neighbour. I have noticed that our side passage is littered with cat poo but my young ds told me today that he saw *** (our neighbour) throwing poo over the fence into our garden and that he thought it was disgusting. There are several cats in the area. What do you think about that?

do some of you lot really think cat owners should be roaming the alleys, gardens and streets of their neighbourhood like spiderman armed with a litter scoop and a plastic bag?!?

That's so funny I had to put it in bold!

mummylin2495 · 13/06/2011 14:45

I beg to differ on that cats always bury their poo. They dont ,its always in piles on my bloody front or back lawn.We dont own any cats !

TotallyLovely · 13/06/2011 14:53

The weird thing is that I see dozens of cats passing through my garden and also grew up with them. I have never ever seen a cat poo on a lawn, ever! They always do it somewhere soft so all I can imagine is that what you are finding is fox poo (but you hate cats so it's a good excuse to blame them)

mossip · 13/06/2011 15:01

YANBU but i can understand it. Think she must've seen your cats doing their business or she wouldn't have thrown it over. Perhaps you could help her with some cat deterrents. We used to put shiny things on our borders (like old cds) to keep them off.

mummylin2495 · 13/06/2011 15:12

You are wrong to suggest that A} i dont like cats and B}Its fox poo.Fox poo is black. My neighbour has two cats that take to lying in my garden most of the day as in their own garden there is only stones to lie on.I like cats but dont like cat Poo ! I wouldnt like elephant poo in my garden either ,but still like elephants Grin

Lunabelly · 13/06/2011 15:36

I have three (spayed, female, mainly indoors) cats, and they use a rather snazzy covered cat bog (£16.99 from a well known catalogue shop) We do not have a cat flap, and the little darlings are always in at night.

Two neighbours own the biggest bastard (un-neutered) almost feral tomcats ever who are out all hours and piss and shit not just in our garden, but break into our house through the teeniest gaps in windows and spray everywhere. If they can't get in they piss on our rotary drier. Or trash our veg plot. Two out of our three cats will not go out without one of us to guard them. Those tomcats are terrorising the whole street.

One of the owners thinks her cunty cat is amusing, the other owners are not the approachable type.

If my conscience would allow it, I would deal with those cats, permanently. Luckily for the tomcats, my conscience kicks in for things as trivial as being given tuppence too much in change, so certainly wouldn't stretch to more nefarious acts...

It's bloody distressing being at the mercy of other people's animals - the smell, the mess, the damage, being too embarassed to have guests round etc. The costs of buying useless deterrents. The affect that it's having on my girlycats.

If I were braver, I'd be flinging shit and piss over the fence, I can tell you. At the end of my tether with the whole thing :(

So, both you and your neighbour were being unreasonable. That said, you are both very lucky that you are both of the ilk that will sit down and resolve challenges together.
We have no such luck.

TotallyLovely · 13/06/2011 16:13

mummylin So the cats are laying on your lawn and also pooing on your lawn? Cats don't poo where they sleep, they are clean animals.

mummylin2495 · 13/06/2011 16:21

yes thats it exactly.i dont chase them off for laying there but if i see one about to shit on my lawn then i do .Im not always watching them so sometimes they do it.

And i dont think cats are as clean as they used to be for some reason.

mummylin2495 · 13/06/2011 16:26

I think we will all have to move to where Totallylovely lives ,she seems to have a better breed of cat up her way.

brass · 13/06/2011 16:28

agree mummylin but forget about the better breed of cats....let's just go and shit in her garden...we'll bury it of course! Grin

My Neighbours cats shit in my front garden on the front garden path and piss up against our front door so it runs down under the door and soaks into my door mat. The strink especially in the summer is awful! My neighbour and I have tried all sorts of things to to put them off. The thing that has worked though is one of those automatic water sprays that is set off by movement, unfortunately it also gets passerbys postman and anyone else coming up the pathBlush

fairydoll · 13/06/2011 17:19

OP I am speechless at the cheek of you! Your cats crap in her garden and when she returns your shit you think she is disgusting!

activate · 13/06/2011 17:23

where did this fallacy arise that cats shit in borders and bury it ?

rubbish

TotallyLovely · 13/06/2011 17:48

Cats aren't as clean as they used to be?! What? But yes you are right we do have better cats here. Nice polite one's with lovely toilet habits. They even wear bow ties and wipe their feet on the mat.

Well that's just lovely brass. Shock

Colliewallydoodle Are they male cats and do you have females?

activate I don't really think it is a fallacy, I've seen it with my own eyes for . . . well . . . many years (not wanting to give away my age). The only time I have seen a cat poo anywhere else is when they have either been ill or confused by hard snow that they can't dig a hole it.

I have a cat. I can guarantee it doesn't shit in the neighbours' gardens because it's got three fucking legs and doesn't go outside.

However any fucking scumbag who even jokingly suggests shooting, poisoning or harming a fucking living animal deserves an entire bedful of animal shit - the divan kind of bed that is.

Colliewallydoodle · 13/06/2011 18:27

Hi activate,

No. I have no cats, I have a large dog who is very scared of the cats Confused . The cats are very nice, I feed them for my neighbour when theyr'e away and pass the time of day with them. My neighbour is very sweet and has offered her garden to my dog anytime he fancys it. Only he wont set foot in her garden incase the cats get him! Whats the point in having a dog and ...... chasing cats yourself!

wipeyuppie · 13/06/2011 18:27

fairydoll - i am speechless at your lack of comprehension of my op. If you re-read it you will notice that i explained what had happened and said my ds had remarked that it was disgusting and asked what did my fellow mners think. I fail to see why you are "speechless of the cheek of me".

I have also sorted the problem out with my neighbour now which i think shows a sense of responsibility for my pets and their actions and respect for my elderly neighbour. I just wanted to make that clear.

Sorry my reply should have been addressed to Totally Lovely Blush

Lorenz · 13/06/2011 18:41

Good to see the issue has been solved, I only wish more cat owners would take responsibility of their vermin cats.

Personally, I'm also a firm believer in cat-shit-slinging. Followed by said cat.

If the shit hits the washing, it makes the normally dull task highly amusing.

DontGoCurly · 13/06/2011 18:58

I think you should have had the litter trays already and shouldn't have had to be 'told' (albeit in an angry way) to contain their shit.

It's just basic consideration to have the litter trays if you've got free roaming cats.

I bet the neighbour was offended and irritated that they kept finding the shit. Didn't it occur to you to be considerate without having to be told....that's what I think fairydoll was getting at!?
