apart from the cost, which can feel, I keep forgetting why it is not a good idea?

pants are not entirely flameproof so please don't go mad with judgemental joy

massive ethical issues with coke. that documentary that alex james did was pretty good at explaining it all.

Olifin · 25/06/2011 23:04

ITNK Good post. Your 4th paragraph in particular makes so much sense to me as someone who has been there.

OilySnatch · 25/06/2011 23:31

never even knew TDWP was a troll until had pm asking if I was her, obviously too self absorbed to notice these things

anyway is good to see thread in active conversations, thank you for contributions. have been much less preoccupied with coke in past week, did one g in little bits earlier in week and felt worse on it than off - more anxious, more introverted too. Have option of seeing someone about it but not sure it's the right thing or the right time. It's bad enough wandering around with a factitious severe mental disorder (not actually factitious but am not sure it's the right one) without adding factitious substance misuse to the mix. Luckily I have lots of other things I can do, mostly completely legal, that are more fun although like all my hobbies and habits not much cheaper.

As for the anti-ps, have been taking various older and atypical ones for over a decade on prescription. They brainwash you into taking these things at every emotional twinge and then you get told off for finding an actual use for them!

I was put off when 29yr old occasional user i knew suffered a heart attack - dr's said it was directly caused by coke. Also mates of mine are physios - often see young patients who had strokes from cocaine use.
The local well known dealers & importers here are total thugs.
And..cocaine is very addictive.
(So is coca-cola. Full sugar please.)

OilySnatch · 26/06/2011 00:01

I thought 'coke stroke' was a temporary thing, not an actual stroke. If I could do it once a month or so and not get obsessed with it I wouldn't mind, but it was getting a bit much. And I feel happier without it so far.

I recently learned that a guy from my year at school died after taking cocaine - he was 29. It happened in Thailand, apparently he was a 'social user' (this did not surprise me, drinking culture and drug culture are huge where I grew up), and I am unsure whether it was heart failure or a heart attack. Made me sad, he wasn't the first from my year to die a drug-related death, but he was the first that I actually liked and remembered fondly.

Kallista · 26/06/2011 07:55

No, oilysnatch, these strokes were not temporary.
You can get minor strokes (TIAs) maybe that's what u mean? But they cause damage too.

I do understand where you are coming from - when i go out i always liked a few drinks - i got my confidence from alcohol & enjoyed myself!
Now i'm on meds which mean i can't have ANY.
It has been really hard to not drink - but it does mean i'm learning how to find my own confidence to go out socially, & am learning to enjoy life without shots, cocktails, wine (dammit!).
If i can give up my confidence boost where i live & socialise (think TOWIE girls erk) then so can you; good luck :-).

spudulika · 26/06/2011 08:26

My sis used to use a lot of coke. It made her very, very stoopid. And uncaring. And poor.

I think it gave her brain damage. She just wasn't a nice person when she was doing it.

She doesn't do it any more thank fuck.

AuntieMonica · 26/06/2011 08:33

coke turns you into a self centred, selfish, overconfident, bullshitting arsehole.

it destroys friendships, and replaces them with need.

for coke.

have personal experience of this

TitsalinaBumSquash · 26/06/2011 08:58

I used to take a lot of drugs. I stopped after coming home from work and seeing all my friends passed out in my flat in various states of disarray.

One guy I knew was stunningly gorgeous, he was funny, intelligent and kind, till the coke got him, now he had no teeth, he can't get an erection, can't control his bladder or bowels very well and had the puffed up look of coke bloat. He also is a self absorbed tosser to boot. Such a waste.

Tchootnika · 26/06/2011 13:20

LordOftheFlies I've just watched (part pf) rodeo video - couldn't stand to watch rest and am shaking with horror at what I saw. Will certainly boycott al coca cola products.
