apart from the cost, which can feel, I keep forgetting why it is not a good idea?

pants are not entirely flameproof so please don't go mad with judgemental joy

Do you get changovers, or are you past them?

NolanSister · 12/06/2011 02:14

Scaredydog, I am a regular namechanger, and don't keep tabs but see patterns sometimes. I certainly don't want to give the impression I am hounding or harassing the OP. She might well be a totally different person to who occurred to me. I wish her well, and hope she gets some help.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 02:15

" Nobody will admit to anything under their usual name, and most won't bother to name change just to be candid."

I beg to differ

OilySnatch · 12/06/2011 02:17

I don't know what changeovers are, come down? I've resumed an antipsychotic I used to take regularly, to smooth things over after doing coke. They bring troubles of their own of course.

ScaredyDog · 12/06/2011 02:17

I'm thinking of you sweet. £100 a week is a fair whack recreational-wise for most people. I'm not the best person to help as if my circumstances were different...well.

First steps and all that, you've recognised you have a problem. Either you can sort that yourself by knocking it on the head and if not, I'd be happy to support you on a thread here or in any MN forum.

Changedjustforthisonly · 12/06/2011 02:18

Test

Changedjustforthisonly · 12/06/2011 02:19

Sorry had to name change. Esentially am high on coke currently. Nothing bad abou.t it. Enjoy occasionally

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 02:20

You have been on antipsychotics and you're on coke? Not wanting to judge here, but presumably you're on the anti-psy for a reason, and coke is going to send you fucking batshit if you don't pack it in!

Changedjustforthisonly · 12/06/2011 02:20

*essentially

flimflammery · 12/06/2011 02:20

'remind me why coke is bad'
yuck

NunTheWiser · 12/06/2011 02:20

Have you seen Tara Palmer-Tompkinson's nose?

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/06/2011 02:21

I'm not a candidate for therapy Unless you have a bloody good reason why you aren't, I can tell you that (I used to work in a rehab) you are a good candidate.

Try to stop for a specific amount of time (a month?). Either you can, then tell me I'm wrong or you can't, then seek help.

OilySnatch · 12/06/2011 02:21

That always happens when you post in a masochistic way, people thwart it by being nice. Two weeks sounds like a long time but should be possible. I always think things are worse than they really are, hopefully that is what has happened here.

OP posts:
flimflammery · 12/06/2011 02:23

If you want a reason to stop now, then maybe the reason should be, BECAUSE YOU CAN. (just read that your habit is quite recent) If you keep going, maybe it won't be so easy.
Do you seriously think it won't have any effect on the people who care about you? Or maybe you don't care about them?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 02:24

Do two weeks. PM me if you like? Get through the weekend. Early week should be easy, might start to be hard by Weds/Thurs...

again. PM me if you like?

x

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 02:25

(p.s. I know how hard addiction is, been there (am still there) so don't think I'm a preachy wanker)

crazynanna · 12/06/2011 02:25

Why not take up Jareth's offer,Oily? Smile

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 02:27

Yeah, do it! Grin

I'll join you and take up the Pom Juice again rather than the booze, deal?

OilySnatch · 12/06/2011 02:27

I will, that's really kind. Will pm under my normal name so you know am not a troll and that i appreciate the offer, except of course you might not recognise my normal name.

OP posts:
JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 02:29

Been here a long time. PM me under your proper name and I'll recognise you, I'm sure.

crazynanna · 12/06/2011 02:32

Nice one....and be sure to check in and let us know how things are going for both of you.
Good luck x

expatinscotland · 12/06/2011 14:45

here

You're an addict, OP.

You need to get some help.

People are being murdered by the thousands for this crap. Plenty of them totally innocent.

OilySnatch · 12/06/2011 15:06

that's horrible, yes it's definitely one of the more unpleasant industries

I'm not an addict though, I don't steal or do anything bad to get it, I simply don't like the feeling that it has sunk its claws into my brain, so making me think about it quite obsessively - which is probably how dependency starts? Having said that I can get obsessed with anything and even the more wholesome pursuits can be expensive and potentially injurious. But then, having said that, I went for years and years between bouts of using coke but whenever I thought about it the craving was there.

Anyway I have a loose sort of plan, it has a few prongs. The cost pisses me off so have arranged various things to do that are more important and better uses of the money. I worry about the possibility that there is some underlying problem (low mood?) but not totally sure am brave enough to come clean to my consultant and discuss it, but that would be the sensible thing. The others are to find more improving activities, goals to work towards and enthuse over.

OP posts:
atswimtwolengths · 12/06/2011 15:53

Why don't you focus on another, healthier, goal, like next year's London Marathon? It would be time consuming, make you fit, make you feel great, you'd be part of a team if you joined a local running group and it wouldn't cost you much.

OilySnatch · 12/06/2011 16:09

That's a seriously good idea, I used to love running (free buzz) although never took part in anything longer than 10k. Marathon is quite a leap but exciting to think about.
