to wonder when MNHQ introduced the policy to delete threads simply because people are disagreeing?

I was just on a thread.
There was a disagreement over whether or not something was racist/offensive.

I could see no personal attacks, there was nothing that breached the talk guidelines.
I have no idea why the thread has been deleted.

So i can only assume it was because there was a disagreement on it.

Is this a new policy? Will we be seeing the vast majority of all threads being deleted now then?

I would say that I love you too, Chickens, but that would be cliquey, which is disgusting. Racism is disgusting too. Therefore if I love you, I am racist. Or something.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:37

I'm thinking of becoming a Racy Bullist.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:38

Pinky, don't you like to make friends? One can never have enough friends.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/06/2011 18:38

My feelings for you are complex, Hully. They make me feel joyous and ashamed at the very same time.

TeddyMcardle · 11/06/2011 18:38

Thank fuck, yeah we're cool Grin

I bloody lurk on mn for two years finally start posting and get caught up in a shit storm.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:39

Hullyist

SuePurblybilt · 11/06/2011 18:39

See the racism was at the beginning of the Day Orphanages thread and fairly swiftly challenged. Then ignored, then the silly songs and dubious meat.

The second deleted thread was started by an imaginary character who dropped nuggets of pure gold in over 20 odd pages, including being made to clean brasses up chimneys (I think), Princess Tippy Toes the Vegetarian, Gran gran and the Jacksys and Shanie's tracksuit wedding. Many people fell about and continued the silliness. It was pulled in the end because one too many people had accused the OP (who moved from cod nothern mother to Vicky pollard daughter to doughty farming stock to facebook queen, depending on her mood. She was truly excellent) of being a troll. So whoosh it went, under the troll hunting policies. The racist comments about teenage traveller girls/childcare/women working etc were not in that thread.

pink4ever · 11/06/2011 18:41

Yes hully I am very sociable,a regular party girl so to speak but I am also very wary of making friends within a gang where I would not be top dog. I like to be the leader you see,its a sad fault on my part

ooohyouareawfulbutilikeyou · 11/06/2011 18:41

it does make me laugh when the trendy wendies stand up and say freedom of speech and everyone must be equal and no one must even think of putting another down

and then dont like it when others use the same freedom of speech to offer differing opinions and try to censor them Grin

ShirleyKnot · 11/06/2011 18:42

Aw Teddy. Seriously, I'm fucking LOVELY, ignore all these cunts calling me a fucking racist bully ARRRRGH

You have been fab on every thread I have seen. I am agog at the moment at the defence of a poster who has clearly misrepresented themselves, I am further amazed that people are jumping in making accusation before reading the whole thread.

Mamaz0n · 11/06/2011 18:44

I adore you Shirl, both on 'ere and out there in that RL place.

on hullys thread someone posted to the orphanage thread. i don't have pages as im an old fuddy duddy and use MN classic cos i dont do change. but i would guess it'd be about page 3 or 4.

I went back to the thread hully had started and asked where the funny stuff started because what i had read so far was vile.

I have been assured by people i know and respect that it was, as many other threads do, derailed into sillyness.

I am glad that that happened, but it doesn't mean the stuff that preceded it was ok. Nor does it mean that those who were involved in teh sillyness should be tarred with the same brush as those who were being vile in the beginning.

make sense?

hobnobs, if only they had t'interweb in Ireland, then she'd know.....

TeddyMcardle · 11/06/2011 18:46

[Links arms with Shirley and skips away]

pink4ever · 11/06/2011 18:46

shirley-I did read the whole thread. Couldnt give a flying feck whether it was racist or not as agree op was most likely trolly. However I didnt like the tone it then took on when loads of regulars/oldies/royalty(whatever you want to style yourselves) took said thread over in a quite insidious way. I agree with one of the other posters that it all smacked of gang mentality and was taken a bit too far. IMO

EricNorthmansMistress · 11/06/2011 18:48

Mamz0n, nobody was taking the piss out of traveller culture on that thread, not with the singing songs and silliness. A few racist posts appeared after Beesimo suggested that non-traveller communities were inferior, as if her racism gave permission for them to release their own prejudices. That was swiftly dispatched by some sensible folks and then some silliness ensued, which had very little to do with Beesimo, and nothing to do with travellers.

Let's not forget that a sockpuppet Beesimo's DD started posting some very odd stuff on that and the deleted 'royalty' thread and it seems highly unlikely that she's a real person anyway. So taking the piss out of her (not her culture/background) was slightly fair game.

Sn0wflake · 11/06/2011 18:48

This idea of MN royalty is a whole load of bloody nonsense. There are a few people who post a lot and are quite entertaining and so you recognise their names. Personally I think people who feel threatened by that are being twonks.

Can we please stop putting them down because I enjoy lurking and reading all their posts.

BitOfFun · 11/06/2011 18:48

Yes, all that insidious joking around is hard to stomach, absolutely Hmm

Deeply sinister.

SuePurblybilt · 11/06/2011 18:50

Maybe there should be a tag team for prolific posters? One in, one out on a thread maybe?

balloonballs · 11/06/2011 18:52

Fuckers who know each other from time spent on here having a laugh. With each other. At the same time.

Bastards make me sick to my stomach.

BelleDameSansMerci · 11/06/2011 18:54

I was going to start a thread about what's racist and what's cultural stereotyping and when does one become the other and therefore upsetting and offensive but I can't face it.

Plus it would be a thread (the man taking girl to loo at nursery) about a thread (day orphanages) about a thread (the royal bullies thread) about a thread (Hully's "what happened thread) about a thread (this one).

Eric - i only saw the part in the beginning with the shitty racism. I read no further and asked where the funny stuff started.
The part i saw was horrible.

AS for teh "cliquey royalist" stuff goes. it drives me nuts. The whole point of Mn is for it to be social. to make friends eirther within MN or in RL. It is ridiculous to say that because a few posters who have spent time together on threads and have become friends should not post on the same threads as each other is bonkers.

Lots of posters who post the same thing is not ganging up, it is agreeing.
