to wonder when MNHQ introduced the policy to delete threads simply because people are disagreeing?

I was just on a thread.
There was a disagreement over whether or not something was racist/offensive.

I could see no personal attacks, there was nothing that breached the talk guidelines.
I have no idea why the thread has been deleted.

So i can only assume it was because there was a disagreement on it.

Is this a new policy? Will we be seeing the vast majority of all threads being deleted now then?

It's the CIIRCLE
The CIIRCLE of LIIIFE

ShirleyKnot · 11/06/2011 18:30

Hang on, hang on...

This is ridiculARSE.

I said at the beginning of the thread yesterday:

"ShirleyKnot Fri 10-Jun-11 10:11:28
Teddy. You are wrong.

Bee is saying "We, in the traveller community are excellent at looking after our children and YOU IDIOTS in the non travelling community are awful because you put your old people in homes and your kids in Day Orphanages!"

Equally as racist as the rest of the shit being spouted on the other side (people making sterotypical comments about travellers - can you stop doing that now please BTW? It's RACIST, and just because one person [beesimo] is being a racist twat doesn't mean that everyone else should join in being racist twats)"

And that is where I stand. I REFUSE to be labelled a racist at all.

FFS

But Mamazon, I don't think anyone mentioned traveller culture or the OP after about page 5 on the day orphanages thread. The songs were nothing to do with it.

I did not have a sarf londong childhood so I posted songs from musicals and Neighbours. I don't think that was racist but I am prepared to be corrected on that.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:31

Racist

Mamaz0n · 11/06/2011 18:31

hully - then no need to get so wound up about the racism, if you weren't the one being racist.

But there were others on the thread that were

OP posts:
Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:31

Racist about Australians. What about Scott and Charlene eh?

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:32

Threadist

TeddyMcardle · 11/06/2011 18:32

I haven't accused you of being racist shirely so your just arguing with yourself now, are you reading my replies at all? I also agreed with that post on the original thread.

Hello?
Hello?

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:32

I'm not wound up. I just prefer accuracy.

SuePurblybilt · 11/06/2011 18:32

That was from their WEDDING, that song I posted Hully. You caah.
Ruined my Neighbours Weddings video for me that has.

pink4ever · 11/06/2011 18:33

Sorry hully but I think the pack has enough alpha bitches in it already. Am sure I would be ripped to shreds so quickly it wouldnt even be fun for you.
Mind you dont take a tumble off that broomstick though.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:33

weddingist

BitOfFun · 11/06/2011 18:33

Yes, I was getting aerated about one poster who swanned into the orphanage thread near the end and started randomly accusing any and everybody who was chatting and posting song lyrics of racism. When disagreed with, she cried bully. When it was pointed out that any dubious comments/stereotyping had been right at the beginning of the thread and had been challenged, and the thread had moved on, she refused to clarify exactly who she was referring to as racist- effectively making all posters equally guilty. A bit like the teacher making the whole class miss break.

I don't think it is fair to obliquely imply racism from posters who are categorically NOT racist.

Then there was a bit of whining from people who don't like to see any banter on any thread, especially from regulars, as they deem it cliquey and inherently bullying because it reminds them of people they went to school with. Because it went on on a thread that had in its early stages had some prejudiced comments from various other people, it was a good opportunity to take a swipe at everybody they dislike joking around later on on the thread, and to describe that behaviour as disgusting, thus faintly implying that racism is catching.

I think that's about the size of it.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 11/06/2011 18:33

Your all fucking Tigerist

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger...

'tis almost apt really Grin

ShirleyKnot · 11/06/2011 18:34

OK, I've x posted with loads.

People criticising the thread should READ THE WHOLE FUCKING THREAD.

It might appear to be some sort of assault, but it is NOT. It was a derailed thread - as many threads derail here on MN and turn from the original subject into something else.

Angry

I'm not kidding actually, I am close to furious on being called a racist bully over and over again

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/06/2011 18:34

I love you, BOF.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:34

AW Pinky. You sound all sad. Why on earth would anyone rip you to shreds??

Don't you like to have fun?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/06/2011 18:35

I love you too, Shirley.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/06/2011 18:35

Actually......oh FFS can't even be bothered Pink lighten up love it's Saturday hardly worth getting your knickers in a knot is it.

TeddyMcardle · 11/06/2011 18:35

I'm just pointing out I haven't called you a racist bully. Getting pretty fucked off with it myself.

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:35

I was too, Shirl. But I've got over it now. I am embracing my inner pointy-hoodedness and nippin out for a light lynch

ShirleyKnot · 11/06/2011 18:36

Sorry teddy!

I'm not talking about you now, BTW - but I have read some pretty heavy shit levelled at me for a number of days now..

WE'RE COOL YEAH?

Hullygully · 11/06/2011 18:36

Oi! where's my love chickens? You damn loveist slut.

balloonballs · 11/06/2011 18:36

I read the entire thread Mamazon and honestly didn't see any racism, tonal or otherwise.

You are entitled to your opinion about what you actually read though of course.

But again just for the crack, imaginary character.
pink4ever · 11/06/2011 18:36

hully-sadly I think my metaphor went a tad too far. Yes I love to have fun but I think I am more of a lone wolf type than a tigeress(is that a word?) and not one to run with the pack.
Also I detest broomsticks-far too phallic for my taste.
