I was just on a thread.
There was a disagreement over whether or not something was racist/offensive.

I could see no personal attacks, there was nothing that breached the talk guidelines.
I have no idea why the thread has been deleted.

So i can only assume it was because there was a disagreement on it.

Is this a new policy? Will we be seeing the vast majority of all threads being deleted now then?

pink4ever, noone referes to themselves as "royalty" its a joke that flies over the head of some posters, who then moan about being bullied after offending 80% of posters.

Hully - i was the first on that thread to say i disliked the tone of the other ( i assume original) thread.

I did not name you as a bully. I think the thread spoken about WAS vile and racist and bullying.

If a tiger is attacked by a pack of lions it doesn't make it ok just because the tiger fights back fiercly.

This OP refers to the recent thread in Chat that was pulled.

The MN Royalty thread was pulled yesterday, not for racism but for troll hunting as Lass II/whoever was frequently referred to as a troll.

The Day Orphanages one, that everyone is talking about being full of racist comments, had a few serious posts for a few pages then went off on a side road of silly songs, still stands. I don't think the 'MN Royaty' accused of being racist were actually in at the beginning anyway. It had some 'discussion' about traveller lifestyles in the first few pages but soon wandered off elsewhere.

Is that a fairly accurate summing-up? Cos everyone seems to be talking about different threads here.

I dont recognise her name and didn't see the thread she is said to have posted her comment on. I only saw the one about orphanages.
What she said was nasty and cruel. Her apology was a little barbed but it was an apology none the less.

She was then attacked by a great number of posters and expected to defend her culture.

Karma - I work with minorities. I know a great number of minority families that are treated badly/are not the greatest parents/don't work/opress their women etc etc.
I still wouldn't be able to post vast generalisations about their entire culture on MN as it would be very obviously marked as racism.

Not here to defend Beesimo, here because racism against the travelling community is rife and easily shrugged off when you confront people.

I've been brought up in houses but my mum is a traveller, there were some disgraceful things said on the original thread.

lissie-I didnt say you were or werent. I know that their are people on here who genuinely do belive their own hype and believe that gives them some sort of authority/power on here to shout others down. Sadly it then seems to lead to a sort of gang mentality(which was demonstrated on the deleted thread-despite hullys rather aggressive denials).
I couldnt care less about that thread-have strong suspicions that op was of the four footed variety. However I dont like that people with misgivings about the tone the thread took on being told them are talking shite(passive-putting her point across perfectly reasonably I think was one of them).
