I was just on a thread.
There was a disagreement over whether or not something was racist/offensive.

I could see no personal attacks, there was nothing that breached the talk guidelines.
I have no idea why the thread has been deleted.

So i can only assume it was because there was a disagreement on it.

Is this a new policy? Will we be seeing the vast majority of all threads being deleted now then?

HOLD UP TEDDY - if I am included in the "et al" then I would LOVE for you to show a post in which I have EVER been racist in any way shape or form. In fact I defy anyone to find a single post in which I have made an even tangental racist comment.

I guess that makes sense mamazOn (and thanks) but then there are times when taking a tangential issue of to another thread seems like a very good idea. Something can be considered bad form without there necessarily being a complete prohibition on it. iMO of course and speaking generally - I didn't see what kicked off last night.

Mamazon, that's not exactly what I said. Of course it's wrong to say that all people in any given group are X or Y. My point is that she did this herself and then other people pointed out why she was inaccurate, based on what they had seen.

I think on MN, if you make an inflammatory/offensive/untrue statement then other people will pick flaws in what you've said and they won't do it nicely.

If X poster is deliberately rude, then other people will also be rude back. I don't think that a person should get an 'out' on the basis of their background. That's just patronising
