To be pissed off that DP thinks I should decline pain relief during labour?

He thinks that I should just get on with it and do it 'naturally'. When I question why, he just sort of shrugs and says that he deosn't really believe in taking medicine. Doesn't think I should have an epidural!

However, he can't understand why I call him a hypocrite, when he thinks nothing of sinking a bottle of wine of an evening.

I'm feeling really fucked off with him.

Is he normally such a wanker? Serious question?

To deny someone pain relief who wants it is fucking inhumane, would he have surgery with no anasthetic?

OMG 'muscular'? akin to MIGRAINE? No disrespect but I DONT THINK SO.

Everyone's experience is different and it certainly isn't 'muscular' when you've nearly ripped in two. Personally I recommend a complete spinal block for this - I lay smiling through my own Texas Chainsaw Massacre with DS1 while my DH stood mute and ashen faced. Bless him, I don't think he ever really recovered.
I went on to have 3 more so what does that tell you?

He is an arse, ignore him. Perhaps even rethink him as life partner?

CJ2010, i dont agree with your DP telling you to do this with/without whatever you want,
BUT
you mentioned that you are terrified following a difficult first birth, my fourth was traumatic and i am scared but trying for a fifth,
are you in a position to try hypnobirthing???? i know plenty will dismiss it but i do feel there is a lot in it that will help YOU to overcome your anxieties.
the classes can be quite expensive but you can buy (borrow?) cds
best of luck, let us know when baby arrives Smile
