sharbie · 01/06/2011 00:24

apparently not

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:25

What? Issac as opposed to Isaac - so is it pronounced i-saac with the I said like inside??

CRS · 01/06/2011 00:26

Well, I thought of Ella for a girl, but we would then be sending cards to people saying "Love from CRS, Mr CRS and Salmonella". These things need thought! Wink Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks Delphine is lovely. I stand corrected on Adele and Ferdinand! Wink

sharbie · 01/06/2011 00:26

no pronounced i suck

scottishmummy · 01/06/2011 00:30

yes im juvenile i sniggered
heads up for that

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:31

Confused - I'm not getting the Issac thing ...... obviously!

CRS - I was named after a dead relative who meant a lot to my parents - but that doesn't mean I can't hate my name. It does have the virtue of being unusual - but not in a good way. I soooo wanted to be a Susan/Fiona/Margaret/Isabelle/Maureen - and I don't even particularly like any of those names!! But they were normal IYSWIM??

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:32

Ahh - OK!!

scottishmummy · 01/06/2011 00:33

some on e will gine you head up on it
cant cock it up once pointed out
its a mouthful alright

sharbie · 01/06/2011 00:33

Smile are you sara salmotrutta???

CRS · 01/06/2011 00:34

I meant - I've got a bit of a crap name too! I was sympathising! I'm sure you can guess the sensible name my son ended up with instead of Aloysious or Sebastian, or Jocelyn... Grin

CRS · 01/06/2011 00:35

And Isaac Cox has to be as bad as Mike Hunt, surely??

CandyS · 01/06/2011 00:39

I like Tristian & Seraphina, but would only ever given them as middle names.
I went to school with a Zeus (girl!) & a Thor. A woman in House of Fraser the other day was shouting at Venus for not behaving.

I don't know if this is snobbery, but I find it less strange/more understandable when the Huntinly-De Witts call their child Thaddius Tarquin the 3rd, compared to when a chav calls their kid Lambrini Chelsea Mercerdes

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:39

No - I like Sarah/Sara. They are not ugly names! The are just old good solid names. My name makes me shudder.
I actually remember telling my Mum I hated it - she was quite upset Sad
My Dad would have been even more upset - but I have never told him I hated it.

CRS · 01/06/2011 00:42

Oh dear Salmotrutta! I am imagining Dorcas or Gertrude! At least it meant something to your parents and had thought and love behind it? Mine is just naff.

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:43

Oh God - I'm so dim naive - I just got the Isaac Cox thing!!!!

CRS · 01/06/2011 00:46

I just sent you a message, salmotrutta, explaining how bad MY name is!!

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:49

I know CRS - there was a lot of love behind it, and I hate that I hate it..... if that makes sense?
The relative was rather special (bright, beautiful, witty and well-beloved) so I feel I can't complain. Bit pointless anyway Grin
And ........ it has smoothed the way in some respects. I don't get mixed up with others who have the same name!

Actually ..... I knew a Dorcas once and I don't dislike that name! Grin She was a lovely person.

Salmotrutta · 01/06/2011 00:57

Ahh you're a love CRS! Grin

Night, salmotrutta! Grin

You'd have to go some to compete with the Rev. Ralph Tollemache.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Tollemache-Tollemache

To name just two of his 15 or so children:

Lyona Decima Veroica Esyth Undine Cyssa Hylda Rowena Adela Thyra Ursuala Ysabel Blanche Lelias Dysart Plantagenet Tollemache-Tollemache
and
Leone Sextus Denys Oswolf Fraudatifilius Tollemache-Tollemache de Orellana Plantagenet Tollemache-Tollemache

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 01/06/2011 03:24

I like how the first 1, and last 8 are all L names, but not the middle 6. Either stick with a first-letter theme or don't, man. Don't, preferably.

I am now considering several of those names, though. Florence Caroline, Edith Regina, Dora Agnes Ernestine, what's not to love?

kiwimumof2boys · 01/06/2011 03:51

Re: Alex james - I love Sable (or Sabel) I'm assuming it was after Sabel Starr, a famous groupie in '70s. Not too sure about beatrix though.
I've always hated 'Jayden'. Ugh.

Icouldabeensomebody · 01/06/2011 05:24

Wolf? Oh dear, didn't they do their research? Adolf means Wolf - it was Hitler's nickname and the name of one of his dogs...
