dh went out last weekend, now has a coldsore for the 1st time, do you think he may have cheated?

ive never had a cold sore neither has he, nor anyone in the family

look it up and info on web seems to indicate that 1-3 weeks of contracting the virus symptoms appear.

what do you think?

do you think he may have cheated?

he was on a night out on the town with mates

I am pretty sure I got one as a child without having kissed anyone at all.

ok so how on earth did i get a cold sore for the first time aged 7? They are very contageous and can be passed on any time of the day....

can i just ask, do you suspect that something has gone on for any other reason?

ts, i imagine you got one at age 7 by bing kissed by a family member with one
which is pretty unfair but they probably didn't know
they could infect you

no other reason to suspect other than being on a night out in town with mates

I got it as a baby from my dad. Yes you can get them from kissing but also have to be careful about glasses, towels etc so maybe picked up someone elses drink?

I really cannot believe that someone thinks their husband is cheating because he has a coldsore........... a great leap of imagination in my opinion!!

The virus can lay dormant for years. Illness, stress or just general run down can trigger a flare up.

hsv my daughter is ninteen months and had one last week. I have had a few myself too. Unless there are other grounds for you to think he may have cheated I wouldn't base it on a cold sore.

You can get them through stress I do. Once you have the virus in you you'll get them. I doubt he's been unfaithful to you.

You can catch it anywhere, and not just from kissing. The virus can lie dormant for ages. It can flare up if you're run down or if you're out in the wind for a long time, or stressed -- any reason or none. You could have it yourself, and go your whole life without knowing it.

While your DH has the outbreak, keep everything that touches his mouth separate from everyone else's things (cups, glasses, forks, spoons, bath towels, face cloths, pillowslips, etc) and wash with extra hot water. Make sure you don't use his bathroom towels.

Oh come on OP! If you really really have no other reason to suspect, it's a ridiculous conclusion to come to over a measly coldsore!

Do you realise the virus could have been lying dormant for about 20 years?

I've heard of people getting coldsores that have lain dormant for years, there's no reason the original infection was last weekend.

i had a coldsore when dh got back from working away for 8 weeks. he thought it was hilarious and ribbed me to bits about cheating!! obviously he didnt really think anything had.

op i think there must be other reaosns for you to suspect or you dont feel secure in this relationship
