I bet Dannii is laughing her arse off too!

slhilly · 26/05/2011 14:17

Why would we encourage each other to laugh at a woman who has been through difficult times? This is vicious gossip culture at its worst: there's a direct connection between this and Heat magazine printing pictures of Jordan's disabled son for us all to laugh at.

ChippingIn · 26/05/2011 14:21

What a horrible attitude you have.

CroissantNeuf · 26/05/2011 14:25

Its really not been her week has it?

I mean, there was an article in the Mail about her the other day saying that she had.........cankles Shock.

Talk about kicking a girl when she's down.

fatlazymummy · 26/05/2011 14:26

oopsadaisy she hasn't lost her job. She is still a 'singer' or whatever it was she did. She will have other opportunities.
slhilly she's nothing like a disabled child. She's a healthy attractive rich young woman who has been giving opportunities that many people will never have.
That's not to say that I'm laughing at her situation but I don't exactly feel sorry for her either.

squeaver · 26/05/2011 14:30

I actually did wonder if she'd be allowed in with her criminal record.

this is interesting

slhilly · 26/05/2011 14:32

Ohhh I see now. This kind of behaviour is acceptable because Cheryl's healthy and not disabled. It's also acceptable because she's attractive. And it's acceptable because she's rich, young (but not too young), had some opportunities that others haven't, and of course, most of all, because she's a woman.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't think any of those characteristics make it acceptable.

cyb · 26/05/2011 14:32

Oh ya boo to all the straight facers on this thread. Its lighthearted gossip people

Sheesh

allibaba · 26/05/2011 14:34

No YANBU!! I couldn't agree more and have a serious issue with this woman being held up as some sort of role model to young kids considering she has a criminal record for beating up a toilet attendant which it would everyone has conveniently forgotton... rant over!!

wineandcheese · 26/05/2011 14:34

YABU
She's a young woman who's just had a rather large and public knockback in her career.

Ooopsadaisy · 26/05/2011 14:35

fatlazymummy - ok, I agree - she will probably get another job or two and I doubt she is struggling with the mortagage or the cost of petrol, but losing a job is losing a job.

It is soul-destroying, relationship wrecking, family breaking, financially ruining and damaging for society. Losing a job is not funny whoever you are.

If in doubt, I will check with my friend who is currently undergoing treatment following his suicide attempt after losing his job.

Yes, I know Chezza's position is not that of an ordinary bod on the street, but it certainly ain't funny.

slhilly · 26/05/2011 14:35

Light-hearted for you, cyb. I doubt she thinks losing her job is just a bit of gossip.

Make sure to come on here and post when you next have bad news in your life. We can all post about how it makes us piss ourselves laughing.

PuppyMonkey · 26/05/2011 14:35

And I bet she comes back to the UK X-Factor in a totally-unplanned-no-really blaze of glory later this year.

Saw the cankles story yesterday, most amusing. In that she hasn't got any.

cyb · 26/05/2011 14:36

oh slhilly. For heavens sake

squeaver · 26/05/2011 14:36

Yay! Cyb's here!

What's your theory, oh wise one?

And she's not lost her job if she was in on it from the start.

slhilly · 26/05/2011 14:37

Any substantive response, cyb. Care to explain what the difference is between laughing at you and laughing at her?

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 26/05/2011 14:38

What are cankles?

I thought the hair might be to do with the the fact she is now the face or hair of Elnett Hairspray

cyb · 26/05/2011 14:38

AND fwiw I'm not pissing myself laughing just agog that a girl with no discernable talent has managed to be newspaper headline worthy for the best part of 5 years

So why should she have a bloody £££££ job judging others

squeaver · 26/05/2011 14:39

Especially with her criminal record...

TechLovingDad · 26/05/2011 14:40

I honestly couldn't care, one way or the other, about her or anyone on "reality" TV.

cyb · 26/05/2011 14:40

Yes thats always conveniently forgotten

But its the lack of talent that aggrieves me more

I'm sure she's a lovely gal, but is a celeb so EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT HER

Not sure some folk on this thread understand that

CucumberMuncher · 26/05/2011 14:40

I bet it has bog all to do with her accent. If it was she could have easily had elocution lessons to tone it down a bit. I reckon she just didn't fit, like when they tried to put Kelly Brook on Britain's Got Talent.

Totally agree with allibaba. It does seem forgotten that she has an assault conviction.

squeaver · 26/05/2011 14:41

Ok this is my new theory...

Ever since she started on UK X Factor, Simon has been wanting to get into her knickers. Getting her to the US was going to be his big opportunity. But when she got there she said "Awww no, pet, I'll never git over Ash, like pet love..."

So he sacked her.

CroissantNeuf · 26/05/2011 14:41

the cankles "story"

CucumberMuncher · 26/05/2011 14:41

cankles - when your calf and ankle merge into one. Basically fat ankles with no definition. She does have them a bit.
