To be a little bit smug that my DS threw up in his friends Dad's car which was being driven at 100mph!

My DS was invited to a party at the weekend, the cinema followed by food.
When he was dropped off there was a frantic knock at the door............He had thrown up all over the car. I was mortified and went out there with my bucket and spent half an hour cleaning the car up as any resposible parent would. The friends Dad also got stuck in and cleaned up to, which I have got to say I was impressed with.

I worried about it all afternoon and in the evening went round with a really expensive bottle of wine, loads of frebreeze and tubs of bicarb for the smell, offering to give it another clean if it still stank in the morning.

I have since found out that DS and his friends were being driven at speeds of 100mph Shock I am furious that someone would drive so irresponsibly with not just their own children in the car but other people's too! and now feel really glad that DS did indeed throw up all over the car!!

Would I be unreasonable to never let DS go in this persons car again?

I would not let my child go in a car with anyone who drove at that sort of speed.

Irresponsible and reckless.

Oh and he deserved all he got with the vomit Grin

If he did drive at 100mph he is a twat ....I would be annoyed that I cleaned all the sick up..

I would say he got what he deserved, and if indeed the 100m was correct then I'd imagine he wont be going in that car again.

That's if the dad ever lets him near it again anyway! Grin

Hmm I might take it with a pinch. how could he see the speedometer? There aren't many places you can build up speed that time of day. Blimey dh used to have a db7 and we didn't often get it up to those speeds...

I'd be a teeny bit sceptical to be honest. He'd have to be on the motorway to stand even half a chance of getting up to 100mph and even then it's not that easy with other traffic on the road.
Plus "And we went ONE HUNDRED MILES AND HOUR" is a pretty stock child comment tbh.

We didn't ask DS, We were all sitting having tea talking about having gone on the Mission space ride at Disney, when DS said, "When we were on the way to the cinema it was like the mission space ride!!" We said "why how fast was He going" to which DS replied "nearly 100mph". He looked because of the g-force he was feeling!!!
And having seen how He drives when picking up his kids the half a mile from school (tut tut) I don't really know why am surprised, I guess I just thought he would be more responsible with other peoples kids.

It was the a1 at 10am on a sat morning, no problem getting up to that speed in his Merc.

YANBU - my dad used to drive like that, and on tiny curving country lanes as well as motorways... bastard. Never let your kid in the car again! It is scary for a child to experience.

It is very easy to do 100mph on the A1 or most motorways at 10am on a Saturday am. What a twat to drive like that with children in the car

I'd also take the 100mph with a pinch of salt. But if he WAS, I'd never let ds near the car again. Unless he was feeling sick.

Erm, Ishani, driving at 100mph ANYWHERE in Britain is illegal, except for on race tracks. Max speed is 70mph on motorways

Well I actually was under the impression the Mum was taking them, not the Dad. It's a very difficult situation now as they are good friends and if he is ever invited on another car journey with them I will have to say I will drive him So to prevent the sickness thing, whilst really it being an issue of safety.

I can't really let on I know about the 100mph thing, as I don't want to cause hostility between us and My DS's friend's Dad/child . After all it's not the kids fault his Dad is a dickhead.

Mine are of an age now where they accept lifts from friends and other parents without asking me. The fact that they are capable of being polite but honest about their reasons for declining and are not open to persuasion is a source of great comfort to me.

'You've drunk too much'
'You are stoned out of your skull'
'You are a dangerous driver'
'You drive at 100 miles an hour'

I'd rather they were more concerned about their own safety than worried about making someone huffy.

whilst in no way condoning what the dad did - I am very Hmm that your ds could "feel the g force"

you do not in any way feel the g force of 100mph in most modern cars - and in a merc, no way (having been on the recieving end of travelling at 100mph in a merc viano - hardly the most sporty of models... and that felt absolutely fine, tbh)

I'm going to leave it, Karma has done it's job by DS throwing up in his car. Hopefully he has thought "maybe if I hadn't been driving like a tosser that wouldn't have happened"
I warned them about DS's travel sickness and insisted he take his booster as that helps.

You do feel the accelleration, DS called it g-force........ he is 9

but that is not necessarily due to the speed.

if driving like a twat (as he clearly was), you coudl feel that at 20mph.
