Well am I.

If HE or any of his legal advisors are reading this - pass on a message.

"If you'd kept schtum it would all be blowing well over by now, instead you've reignited it and people will be discussing it for longer. Go out - buy your wife a massive "sorry I was a prat" present and move on with your life".

Oh and employ someone with some common sense to ADVISE you in future - not some rich lawyers who will now be richer as a result of this fruitless action.

Amy dying to see if Twitter deliver up what's demanded in the 7 days they have. Suspect their lawyers might be saying "this is America, they are in the UK - tell em to go take a hike".

I've asked this before, but no-one's answered: does Ryan Giggs qualify for a refund on his injunction?

shortround · 23/05/2011 22:29

2 tv stars who have served injunctions as they had an affair and are married are from the program shameless

there is a house hold name journalist who has served an injunction after paying out for a love child, to now find out the child isnt his.

one of tv's biggests names has an injunction served against his ex wife, as she wanted to write a book. allegedly they carried on sleeping together even though he is now happily remarried.

CaveMum · 23/05/2011 22:42

Have you seen this photo of Mr Giggs?

Genius Grin

(read the billboard notice)

piprabbit · 23/05/2011 22:59

I did not look at that picture.
Or laugh.

Oh no, not me. Footballers are far too Important and Serious to be made a laughing-stock.

Potplant · 24/05/2011 12:19

Oblomov - "I don't think its just the mail that presenting Giggs as family. I think that has been the crux of his appeal for a long time. He is presented as that and has been for many years. Many suspected a sham ( or is that just his marraige wink), but now we all have it as confirmed."

Really? They seem pretty low profile to me. I'm not a close follower of his team or him, but they aren't the 'Look at our fabulous home in Hello' types. She doesn't have her own column telling everyone how marvellous she is. Surely his appeal is regarding his football skills?

If it wasn't for this, it would have been Colleen all over the DM rather than him.

I don't get why everyone is so delighted that he's been outed.

Vev · 24/05/2011 12:28

It's because of his own self importance everyone's become interested, wouldn't say delighted.

Oblomov · 24/05/2011 12:51

Not delighted. But we don't like it when someone tries to buy their way out of trouble. And clam, not sure if he will get his £200,000 back. But then what is £200,000 to him? nothing. bit more thna a weeks wages. But, it sure didn't work, did it ?
What a pratt. We all know he would have been better to just let it be known , and then lie low.
But we reesent all the power, of big famous person trying to stop truth coming out, against woman less powerful. whole thing = ridiculous.

cjel · 24/05/2011 15:37

agree with oblomov. Hope women involved can get over it.

piprabbit · 24/05/2011 21:39

Just seen the news.

Seems like someone isn't happy with a continuing press presence at the the Giggs house - and has arranged for the lads to pop round and explain.

Mountain...molehil....??

fgaaah · 24/05/2011 21:47

That's absolutely shocking, piprabbit - to just start slashing the tyres and breaking the windows of the reporters cars in broad daylight!

They must think they're above the law too! Shock Thing is, those reporters will probably be using their own cars too in some cases - imagine your husband/wife coming home from their reporting job to say that masked men have jumped out of a van and smashed the car up like that.

utterly dispicable

NormanTebbit · 24/05/2011 21:52

That's lovely. Agency reporter on £12,000 a year, car is their livelihood. They are just doing their job, like it or not.

sobloodystupid · 24/05/2011 21:54

Did someone call me? Smile

NormanTebbit · 24/05/2011 21:59

"Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was caught on tape asking a press officer to ban a journalist who had asked a question about the Welshman during a press conference.

Associated Press (AP) reporter Rob Harris asked how important Giggs was for Saturday's Champions League final against Barcelona.

Sir Alex replied: "All of the players are important, every one of them." He then moved on to another question.
He was later overhead on a microphone telling a press officer to "ban him on Friday". Another press conference is scheduled the day before the Champions League final."

Pollyanna · 24/05/2011 22:06

why can't we say that it was Giles Coren?

Not sure what law prevents that. Anyway, I saw his tweets about the other alleged cheating person before they were withdrawn! obv can't say who it is. (and hadn't heard of him anyway before this...)

Mumcentreplus · 24/05/2011 22:06

I don't give a toss if someone whats to hide their dirty laundry why the hell not?...you are not public property because you are in the public eye..plus I don't pay his wages so i don't care..it's not even real news ffs..and the tearful tramps who sleep with married men and then play the victim..sheesh...I pity his wife:(

piprabbit · 24/05/2011 22:13

I think we can say it was Giles Coren. He was also mentioned by the MP in the same statement that 'revealed' Ryan Giggs identity.

Giles was on R4 this afternoon, sounding a bit embarrassed about all the attention. He said something along the lines that he wasn't making a stand for a free press, just making a stand for a smutty joke.

mummymeister · 24/05/2011 22:15

AS there is a super injunction does it mean that if i discuss it in private tonight with my husband he could report me and i could be up before the judge. Are there people with their ear to my window pane just waiting for me to mention his name? Honestly, he slept with someone not his wife, he should have gone to the papers first, fessed up, took the flack and tomorrow his face would have been smothered in salt and vinegar and no one would have cared except his poor wife, children and all the other people that love him and now feel terribly let down. The I am sparticus movement for naming and shaming these people is the most liberating thing to have happened in this country for years!

Really can't understand the joy/relish at this man being outed...why do you care?..why should someone have to fess-up to anything?..who the hell are you to him?...now if you are his wife then i understand.. anyone else why is it your business exactly?...friggin hell do none of you have secrets? are you all the type to write into Chat to make sure everyone knows how honest you are?..its fucking weird imo..

edam · 24/05/2011 22:57

It's schadenfreude, mumincentre. Someone who was overweeningly arrogant and used his wealth to hide his mistakes has found money and power aren't enough. Good. The law is supposed to treat us all equally ? the courts are not supposed to be the playthings of the rich and famous.

Mumcentreplus · 25/05/2011 00:31

edam I here you...but I really don't give an arse..everyone is embroiled in the mistakes and salicious activity of a footballer...why is it our right to know his business?..why is it ok for his mistress to sell her story with impunity...

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 25/05/2011 01:25

The High Courts do not do refunds, clam.

If you click on this link www.yourrights.org.uk and type 'barrister' in the 'search' box you'll find a page on making complaints - search 'solicitor' for ditto.

As you'll see, making a complaint against one's legal adviser(s) may necessitate racking up another set of legal fees with another solicitor/barrister, while the original lawyers are entitled to charge at their usual rate for the time they spend justifying defending themselves.

There's a possibility that if Mr Giggs believes he has cause for complaint we may never know as he, or his original lawyers, may apply for and obtain an injunction to hide the proceedings.

cjel · 25/05/2011 14:15

I think there were two of them in this affair and the amount of bullying that has gone on by one side is awful. I don't know about the rights and wrongs of kiss and tell I find that weird , but it was her life as well as his so she should have the right to discuss it .
