I don't care about the impact, I am reporting this family for benefit fraud

Was talking to my 'friend' over a few glasses of wine and things got round to money etc (me helping family member with rent)

Oh she says, I help my son out with his rent every month, later turning out she lives with her boyfriend who claims full housing benefit, her dd works full time and lives with them but at the same time she rents a house in her own right that her son lives in rent free (also works full time in an ok job)

That is taking the biscuit and plain greedy. Benefits are there for those who need them and that is taking the Biscuit

As in my friend is claiming unemployment benefits for her son to live rent free, apparently that also means she gets more jobseekers Hmm

Utter madness

If you are sure of teh details then go ahead and report them.

bupcakesandcunting · 14/05/2011 19:37

It may be because I've had a drink but the second paragraph made me dizzy.

TheSkiingGardener · 14/05/2011 19:39

Yup, no mitigating circumstances there!

FakePlasticTrees · 14/05/2011 19:39

Report.

MotherSnacker · 14/05/2011 19:41

Disabled people and genuine housing benefit claimants are facing cuts because of the deficit and the massive welfare bill. Report them.

SatansLittleHelper · 14/05/2011 19:41

Oh yes Blush

OP posts:
AuntieMonica · 14/05/2011 19:43

so why tell MN about it?

Biscuit
TidyDancer · 14/05/2011 19:44

Definitely report. I am facing a similar dilemma atm, though not so clear cut. It's difficult.

SatansLittleHelper · 14/05/2011 19:45

That's my whole point. If greedy so and so's doing that when people in genuine need are going without, I could even understand it if she did it for a few months to get her son on his feet but he's been doing it for a few years and is a single man on 35k a years ffs

OP posts:
SatansLittleHelper · 14/05/2011 19:47

Because that's what MN's for Monica, or did you not notice it's a discussion board ?

OP posts:
DillyDaydreaming · 14/05/2011 19:47

I don't blame you for reporting her BUT anyone who thinks the cash saved will go to the people who need it is living in cloud cuckoo land - this government takes - it doesn't give.

Just saying ......

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 14/05/2011 19:49

Was just going to pour to drink to get my brain round it, 'bupcakes'.
Do you reckon 2 will do it?

Other than the boyfriend, I'm not sure who's doing the scrounging and presumably, when/if the social go sniffing, your friend can point to her name on rent book of house her son's living in ?

Is your friend's house being paid for by the long-suffering taxpayer, and is she receiving benefits (other than the ones she's getting in kind from the boyfriend)?

LDNmummy · 14/05/2011 19:49

Actually I usually would say don't report, mostly where young children and single parents are concerned. But this is different. YANBU.

AuntieMonica · 14/05/2011 19:51

i asked because from your post you'd already decided what to do, it's a no brainer surely?

LDNmummy · 14/05/2011 19:51

But saying that, now I'm not sure about what in this situation is the actual fraud, probably cos I'm a bit dim on the subject of benefits more than anything.

holderness · 14/05/2011 19:52

Agree wholeheartedly with what Dilly said .

FreudianSlipper · 14/05/2011 19:56

well done you have a pat on the back

go ahead and report them but really what is the need to announce that you are

SatansLittleHelper · 14/05/2011 20:19

Oh I know that Dilly, even so. I cannot believe the greed of some people. Maybe we should all do it ? Oh no wait, there would be no one to pay us all.....shit, didn't think of that Hmm

CurrySpice · 14/05/2011 20:21

I have no idea what ehat the OP meant Blush

Tortington · 14/05/2011 20:25

ive come to the conclusion that if you tell somone your diddling in some way. you are the stupidest person on the planet

and for that reason above any morality you should get whats due to you

i used to be the person screaming that you dont know all the facts - what business is it of yours - some friends you are etc - but if you are so THICK as to tell ANYONE then your a dumshit and it serves you right

bupcakesandcunting · 14/05/2011 20:28

"i used to be the person screaming that you dont know all the facts - what business is it of yours - some friends you are etc - but if you are so THICK as to tell ANYONE then your a dumshit and it serves you right"

Custardo shit right in the toilet there.

niceday · 14/05/2011 20:36

Bupcakes - I think it's a kinda competition thread. Or we are just witnessing a miracle - some people here can read op's mind...

niceday · 14/05/2011 20:39

Op - you are absolutely right to report her boyfriend's daughter's son and his girlfriend whose rent you pay to claim unemployment benefits!

Didyouever · 14/05/2011 20:42

I only think you can do it morally if you're perfect yourself and have never broken any rules.

Otherwise I think people report out of jealousy.

And not a penny will go to someone more deserving.
