to want to take nanny to court for £40.25

Long story short:
Nanny of 9 months announces she is 6 weeks up the duff to the guy she broke up with late last year... (it's one of those "If I get pregnant, he'll stay with me" babies that I think she is now regretting)

Got a text yesterday in the middle of a uni lecture from said nanny:
Cnt get kids 2day I quit

I immediately leave uni to collect kids from school, ask her what is going on, she says it's confidential.

Then last night, I tot everything up for her last wages and discover that she's taken too much holiday by three weeks this year. After deducting this month's wages, etc, it turns out she owes us £40.25

I inform her of this yesterday. She then has the gonads to text me this morning asking if she can work her four weeks notice?!?!

I very politely but sternly tell her no, that she quit, that she is no longer welcome here, and requested that she return her key today whilst I'm at uni.

I spoke to a friend who is also a solicitor last night, who has agreed to send a letter requesting the money.

I KNOW it's only £40 and it's not the money I'm pissed off about... it's the fact that she flipping TEXT an hour before the kids were due to be collected, that she gave no notice, never came to speak to me about any of her issues, nothing!!

Elephant????? Its Elphaba. Or are you actually being deliberately offensive. I am assuming not and it is just reading the word wrong.

elphabadefiesgravity · 14/05/2011 19:47

I can always cast a spell on you!!!!! Envy Wink

UnlikelyAmazonian · 14/05/2011 19:53

Sounds good.

But I guess it's just the way people talk. Spells an' all that. Wanky old piss-poor spells and I might take you to court for 4.50 if that spell dont work. But then ignore me Mrs elephant, is jus the way I's talkin.

Fecker.

Ooops. Slip o'fingerrrr. Jus' the way I tyyype

elphabadefiesgravity · 14/05/2011 20:02

Not quite sure what I have done to deserve that but it seems you are being deliberatly offensive whilst I was making a friendly attempt at humour..

Beesimo - the fact that the school would have looked after the children if no-one had turned up to collect them does NOT change the fact that it could be very worrying and upsetting for them when no-one was there for them at home-time.

valiumredhead · 15/05/2011 15:50

Oh Lord, someone fill me in on the reference to showering - then I will be able to make an informed judgement Wink

Needanewname · 15/05/2011 15:52

Bessimo - becasue there was no physical attacks on the children and it was a 'nice misdle class' family I stupidly assumed all would be OK. I don;t ever think the kids would have been physically harmed, SS would have probably not been the right people to call anyway, not sure who would have been right to call in a situation like that.

What I was trying (very badly) to get at it that no matter what the problems you are going through, you don;t dump the kids in it.

springbokscantjump · 15/05/2011 16:17

valium it's not as exciting as it sounds. OP found out from dd that the nanny had had a shower in their en-suite shower, borrowed her hairbrush and never mentioned it. After a bit of hand-wringing OP realised she didn't mind that much anyway. Two groups of opinions: on one side people thought it weird to either to shower at all or to shower and not mention it; other group thought it entirely reasonable.

Oh and it seems OP uses the phrase 'up the duff' as her phrase for being pregnant (said in a general rather than derogatory way).

Knackeredmother · 15/05/2011 16:27

Has there been any outcome with the nanny?

valiumredhead · 15/05/2011 16:57

spring thanks! Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/05/2011 18:53

yes if the nanny did text giving one hours notice and no good reason to why she couldnt pick up the children, then op has a good reason to moan

there seem to stories about this nanny on childcare section and all seems a little false tbh

Laquitar · 16/05/2011 18:49

Valium there was more than that in the 'shower thread', more juicy Wink
Next thread will be 'shall i demand a DNA test' ?

OP starts a thread, people argue over it, op disapears and starts another thread or she comes back with something 'ha ha ha'.

Laquitar · 16/05/2011 18:52

Oh and mathanxiety as always she is very close imo

anotheracademic · 16/05/2011 19:05

Id be fucked if someone rang and dumped me in it with an hours notice. I wouldnt have anyone to get my ds from school. id be upset too.
