There's a thread about Mothercare being a bit rubbish...

My mum advised me against pumpkin patch as apparently the clothes aren't very good quality...

Just being nosy really!

Mother care is dire. My 2 would destroy mother care clothes after a few wears.

I buy petit bateau (pants, undershirts, pyjamas, trousers, track suits), Polern O. Pyret (outerwear, t shirts), Ralph Lauren (polo shirts, button down shirts, blazers, jumpers), Hackett (rugby shirts, polo shirts), Gap (shorts, socks, track suits), Joules(t shirts), brora (jumpers), and Lego (long sleeved t shirts).

I buy for the eldest boy, which gets handed down to the younger boy, then their boy cousins. Because of this, I spend the bit extra to get quality.

What's POP?

Supermarkets usually. ASDA trousers though are often too large around the waist.

I actually find BHS great for kids clothes. Quite often they do 3 for 2. So I get 2 pairs of trousers and a multi pack of 3 tshirts (2 long and 1 short) for winter and 2 pack shorts, 3 pack t shirts and pair 3/4 for summer. I find the quality great too and last despite being battered and washed a lot.

QueentessentialExcel · 11/05/2011 22:22

H&M, Polarn O Pyret. When in London, Next and Gap

Guildenstern · 11/05/2011 22:23

Sainsbury's and Asda for everyday wear.
Mothercare for pyjamas.
E-bay for anything posh.
Clarks for shoes.

mammaditre · 11/05/2011 22:25

POP = Polarn O Pyret really nice Swedish brand sells in House of Frasier

Honeybee79 · 11/05/2011 22:28

My DS is 6 months. I'm lucky enough to have friends who have loaned us loads of stuff so haven't had to get a huge amount. When I do buy it's from Asda, Tesco, or Sainsbo. M & S are is quite good too. Don't see the point in spending loads of money on clothes for him when they'll only last a couple of months.

If I want to push the boat out for a pressie then Gap or Jo Jo Maman Bebe (so bloody pricey though!)

Sirzy · 11/05/2011 22:30

Ds is 18 months and mainly wears asda and next with some mothercare, h and m and tesco thrown in. A lot of his clothes are hand me downs and despite being worn by Ds for 6 months will still be fine to pass on to my nephew.

itsabiggywhatdoidonow · 11/05/2011 22:43

mostly charity shops, sometimes tesco, lots of hand me downs. About 3 year ago H&M and newlook babies, lovely loose trousers tshirts and sweatpants for nursery. HATE primark and pumpkinpatch, bawesed up sizing and fade shrink in was. I used to buy jojomam.

loving gap and fatface just now dd loves to look feminin but role in mud etc both are pretty and trendy but very practicle fatface washes well long lasting and normaly adjustable. next also for multi pack cottonTs and shorts.

have a couple of joules second had...far superior to boden.

my secret is buy trousers/skirts in summer sale from expensive shop for winter wear, adjustable waist a few sizes too big croped and capri pants go from ankle to shin to knee, last a few years and see the seasons out, mix and match with basic (cheap and secong hand)Ts and vests. this worked with jojomam

itsabiggywhatdoidonow · 11/05/2011 22:56

TKmax for dresses

hairfullofsnakes · 11/05/2011 23:08

H&M, next, supermarkets, and for socks it's always Gap

River island has some gorgeous bits, expensive but lovely quality

seeker · 11/05/2011 23:11

NerfHerder · 11/05/2011 23:36

Oh- BC, I love Elias and Grace, but it would not last 2 seconds on my youngest. Their site is great for ideas though!

JL, Gap, Boden, Sainsburys for me. H&M, Petit Bateau or Gymboree sometimes. No problem with ebay.

Never, ever Next or mothercare.

NerfHerder · 11/05/2011 23:37

Oh and naartjie for girls too- love their stuff, apart from the really floaty airy fairy stuff.

itsabiggywhatdoidonow · 11/05/2011 23:38

lifts jaw of floor

just looked at your profile, in an inquisitive maner. your dc has the most magnificant eyes and smile.

CocktailQueen · 11/05/2011 23:39

Tesco/Asda/Sainsbugs for cheapy essentials, M&S sometimes for boys but don;t likt ehtie boho stuff for girls; John Lewis for clasics for both girls and boys; Next too but no logos thanks, and like some Boden too, for both. I liker Vertubaudet too and also ebay bargains!

Bearcrumble · 11/05/2011 23:41

Oh thanks, I am a dafty spendthrift and I probably wouldn't be like this if he wasn't my IVF only child. This is one of the outfits I like best i56.tinypic.com/2u70h8z.jpg

Pandemoniaa · 11/05/2011 23:42

I've always detested Matalan but I have to say they've got some good stuff for baby girls. My dgd (4 months) has three gorgeous little dresses that look seriously expensive but cost almost nothing. They wash up a treat too!

itsabiggywhatdoidonow · 11/05/2011 23:49

that is fab very citch.
