There's a thread about Mothercare being a bit rubbish...

My mum advised me against pumpkin patch as apparently the clothes aren't very good quality...

Just being nosy really!

Lots of second hand Gap, Next & Boots from NCT sales. I figure if its got that far its pretty hard wearing.

New stuff from Gap (sale), Boots, H&M and sainsburys.

FattyAcid · 11/05/2011 20:10

Mainly Zara, Gap, Next, M&S with bits from POP, H&M, Monsoon, Fat Face, Boden, Primark. Never from supermarkets as I get my shopping delivered!
I am also very happy to buy from ebay and car boot sales!

titferbrains · 11/05/2011 20:11

DD is tiny so it all comes from Gap pretty much; I wait till the 30% sale each season then get what I need in one load. Means that everything matches which I like

I also like h&m stuff when it hasn't got hello f*ing kitty all over it. The sizes are a bit silly for DD tho, she is 2.7 and still occasionally wears a 9-12mo t-shirt! JL I found to be huge, she has one winter outfit I got from them that she may never fit, massive waist and generally far too wide for her.

oxfordcomma · 11/05/2011 20:12

I love your name OP.

From my limited experience of Mothercare clothes, their sleepsuits are good, but expensive, and their clothes are badly sized (and presumably expensive too).

John Lewis - multipacks can be reasonably priced, good quality.

M+S - multipacks can be reasonably priced, good quality. Fab jeans.

Supermarkets - very cheap vests, sleepsuits etc. Okay quality, and last for longer than DS fits into them Grin.

Boden - more expensive, good quality. DS's Auntie buys him Boden clothes, and he does look cute in them Smile.

IFoundMyIdenticalHandTwin · 11/05/2011 20:14

I go to Tesco and Next for everyday stuff and Debenhams Designers range for nice party/special occassion stuff.

I particularly like St George by Duffer and Baker Boy.

claire201 · 11/05/2011 20:14

M and s, and okaido/ obaibi, not sure if there are many shops in England but the clothes are lovely and great quality

shinyshoes · 11/05/2011 20:17

Ebay for Boden. Got some lovely 2nd hand items from there quite cheap.
Supermarkets mainly

haudyerwheesht · 11/05/2011 20:17

Asda, primark, tesco, m+co, next pretty much.

siilk · 11/05/2011 20:19

My 2 ds have a range of things they wear Matalan,
Tescos etc for playing clothes, but we also have Next, H&M, Gap, Blue Zoo, Baby Rocha, Zara, M & S, Pumpkin Patch, Sprout, Pure Baby (last 2 Australian brands) Alot of the higher end stuff were gifts - many are saved for best. I also like a rummage in TkMax.
Mind you much of DS2 wardrobe were DS1's so they are getting a good workout.

oneofthosedays · 11/05/2011 20:21

I have a terrible weakness for Boden at the moment but only try to buy in the sale or when a good offer is on (sometimes they do 20/25% off with free postage and returns) and stock up in the Next sale as well. Shoes tends to be clarks, crocs (online), cheap sandals (or branded off ebay) for DS and Nike/Adidas trainers (brantano/sportsdirect.com), hush puppies shoes, crocs (online) and cheap/sale (or branded off ebay) sandals for DD. Occasionally I'll get pj's and leggings from matalan or primark.

The boden stuff has been lasting for ages, I just buy slightly big so they get longer out of it. I'll get knickers/vests etc from primark or M&S (if I'm shopping for school uniform and they have 3 for 2 on). I've found M&S sizing to vary wildly and quality not so good (all t-shirts twisting, holes in stuff really quick etc, but uniform is ace).

WincyEtNightie · 11/05/2011 20:21

DS (11 months) mainly Boden, John Lewis, H&M and Tesco
DD (4) mainly Boden, John Lewis and Tesco

Have also got some nice bits from Sainsburys but it's not somewhere I go regularly and I find supermarket clothes are generally hit and miss so you have to keep looking to pick up the "gems".

I used to like Next for DD but as she gets bigger their stuff is increasingly naff/tweeny. Ditto H&M and M&S for girls.

Agree that Mothercare is good for Sleepsuits, pyjamas and socks but little else these days.

queenebay · 11/05/2011 20:22

I swear by sainsburys--I love their clothes

missmyoldname · 11/05/2011 20:25

Tescos and Asda mostly.

The sale rail at M&S and JL, plus Pumpkin Patch outlet.

Mothercare for trousers for DS as he needs slim fitting.

Acinonyx · 11/05/2011 20:26

A lot of the supermarket stuff is fantastic value for money. Also have some good stuff from nearly new and charity shops. Occasional Gap and Next: fair amount of M & S and John Lewis, especially for school. I used to love Jojo but dd has just grown out of that line. I have the Boden catalogue with pages turned over but I've never ordered anything - bit too expensive.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 11/05/2011 20:26

Next boots or baby shops if from baby shops though tends to be timberland or mayoral

However DC2 is in the way now and money getting tight so will be more from next or supermarkets/primark not tesco though they're boys stuff is hideous.
H&m and Zara kids is great too

pink4ever · 11/05/2011 20:27

Mainly h&m,peacocks and m&s. Will buy basics such as plain t-shirts,leggings,socks,pjs etc from primark. Used to like next but now its overpriced and there little girl stuff is far too mini-adult.
Need to stay out of h&m though as bought dd 3 dresses from there this week already!.Cheap as chips-though word of advice buy the next size up as they do shrink a bit.

otchayaniye · 11/05/2011 20:29

Mine are all hand me downs from a Middle Eastern friend with two girls, but they are gorgeous ones from Bonpoint, Chelsea Clothing, Caramel Baby, Cacharel, with some less tasteful (but still fun) Dior, Juicy Couture, D&G.

I've added to it with some mini Boden from eBay - I think their clothes wash well.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 11/05/2011 20:36

I also like jasper conran ted baker(although the baby range is much nicer than toddler) and rocha

Actually I find that toddler ranges in most places aren't as nice as baby range for boys anyway, I'm finding it really hard to buy boys clothes in nice bright colours without horrible slogans or characters etc all over as a result DS has lots of the same clothes.

Loolah · 11/05/2011 20:38

asda and matalan for everyday wear, occasionally next, m+s and debenhams

FurKnickersAndNoCoat · 11/05/2011 20:40

lots of places really. tight budget here so Next is me buying something "nice", also peacocks, like tesco kids clothes, charity shops too Blush

FurKnickersAndNoCoat · 11/05/2011 20:40

oh and LOTS of hand me downs from my sisters 3 girls too.

Gorran · 11/05/2011 20:44

Mainly Boden tbh. I usually do a fairly big sweep in GAP as well when they have their 30% promotions, and lately my eldest daughter has picked a few nice dresses from M&S, oh and I do like John Lewis...

pointythings · 11/05/2011 20:45

I find Sainsburys very good indeed - some super stuff in their sales, and good plain essentials very hard wearing. Tesco is patchier these days, too much blingy tat (but goof swimwear, oddly enough!) I really like H&M though I do get frustrated with them - one visit there's nothing, the next visit there's so much good stuff I'd like to buy it all and it wouldn't fit in the house!

M&S is good for school uniform basics and PJs every so often. Next is brilliant for coats and jackets, good quality and lasts well if you buy big, but too pricy for everyday stuff, especially as my DCs are deadly magnets for permanent stains.

wigglesrock · 11/05/2011 20:45

Have dds (5,3 and 12 weeks), mainly Tesco, Asda, sometimes Sainsburys. Use Next as well mainly for their £9 summer dresses. Will also go to M&S sometimes. But my absolute favourite is Old Navy, Bil is in America and get him to parcel up stuff for the girls. He just loves getting e-mails from me Grin

nannyj · 11/05/2011 20:46

H&M, Gap and especially love Vertboudet. Have a nearly 2 year old dd.
