i bought one this weekend, put banana in - dc was loving it. I then tried to was it up after ages of scrubbing i still kept finding pieces of banana stuck in the net. I left it to soak in boiling hot water, scrubbed again and then sterilised it. I now have a brown coloured net (thanks to banana) and i think i have finally got it clean. I spent ages washing it up, if i didnt inspect several times for banana after i thought it was clean there would still be bits stuck in it. Surley this can't be the hygenic? Is there some magic washing method i've failed to notice?

did you take the net off to clean it, that should make it easier, then use a brush, (bottle brushes are great for cleaning mesh type things).

worraliberty · 11/05/2011 10:31

Dare I ask what it is?

jasper1980 · 11/05/2011 10:34

I had one for dd, felt the same, it just never ever seemed clean...I just gave her the banana in the end!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/05/2011 10:35

Just give the banana, those net things are pointless.

EricNorthmansMistress · 11/05/2011 10:57

Pointless PFB product.

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 11/05/2011 10:59

I don't understand why you would use one???

GandTiceandaslice · 11/05/2011 11:00

Crap product. Just give him the banana!
Have you got a babywipe warmer as well Wink

nzshar · 11/05/2011 11:08

Agree waste of time and money, very PFB

sheepgomeep · 11/05/2011 11:10

yes think these are horrible too. the thought of one of those going in my babies mouth filled with food makes me shudder.

saying that though I probably would have bought one for ds who was my first Blush

can you seriously get baby wipe warmers?!?

Morloth · 11/05/2011 11:17

I saw these in the shop the other day and couldn't understand why.

sheepgomeep I kept the wipes on the radiator next to the change table. Was lovely and warm, would actually buy something for it though, also a good place to keep nipple cream!

Morloth · 11/05/2011 11:18

wouldn't buy something!

LordOfTheFlies · 11/05/2011 11:18

Yes sheepgomeep you can get babywipe warmers-I can see the appeal cos DD used to clamp her bum cheeks together when I was cleaning her but was fine with warm water and cotton wool (with all the annoying little fluffy strands). You can also get butter warmers to keep it at perfect spreading consistancy, I kid you not....

Paschaelina · 11/05/2011 11:19

DH likes it, he's very much father to a PFB.

I just give Boy the fruit in his hand.

pinkyp · 11/05/2011 21:35

ooo baby wipe warmer sounds good! I basically got it as he tries to shovel everything in his mouth at once then chokes (we've only just started weaning) so i thought it'd be something different for him to chew on rather than a toy. Yeh i took the net off and scrubbed it

Oh. I thought it was a post about a vibrator. Shows what I know!

Sigh.

pinkyp · 11/05/2011 21:49

Mandy2003 · 11/05/2011 22:34

For the benefit of Worraliberty, and every one else

here it is

Still scratching my head that it is marked as a choking hazard and not suitable for under-3s!!!

I cannot imagine how it works - what fruit other than banana could squeeze through a fine guage net?

BadaBingBang · 12/05/2011 05:50

I use a wipes warmer. I mean, you try wiping your fanjo with a cold wipe a few times a day and then tell me that you'd prefer it that way. Plus, warm wipes are better at wiping off porridge that is glued to the face and crusty snot.

whatsallthehullaballoo · 12/05/2011 06:30

I have officially seen everything. Wet wipe warmer.

What a load of shit!!

And those Nuby snack things - I think they are a waste of money. What purpose do they serve??

HengshanRoad · 12/05/2011 07:10

You wonder how anyone actually lived past the age of 1 in the past without these devices...

controlpantsandgladrags · 12/05/2011 07:17

wow, can't belive anyone would buy one (sorry OP!)

What you describe as choking is just gagging and perfectly normal. If he was actually choking you'd know about it Smile

Finger foods can be nerve wracking when you first start - I was very nervous of it with my PFB for a while Smile

Goblinchild · 12/05/2011 07:23

It's not hygienic at all, bin it.
What treasure troves of cash new parents are for anyone with a knick knack concept for babies and toddlers.

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 07:32

wow I also thought we were going to be talking about a sex toy

and OMG that is the most stupid shite thing I have ever seen

chuck it away

HeadfirstForHalos · 12/05/2011 11:21

On that nuby nibbler link there is a warning not to be used by under 3s - choking hazard Grin
