I am not into looking at corpses over breakfast.

The Daily Fail has a huge pic of Bin Laden's dead face on the main page.

Why?

AIBU?

Well, your first mistake is reading the Daily Fail!

Second of all...gross. Not my idea of morning reading either.

sharbie · 02/05/2011 09:17

ugh their pictures are just awful

no need for this at all

WhiteBumOfTheMountain · 02/05/2011 09:18

I know! I know! I read somthing on MN though and went to have a lookat it.....I just didn't expect that! They wouldn't show a normal persons dead face would they?

How can it be allowed? No warning or anything...my children would have been horrified...he looked hurt.

I know why they did it! It's because oads of Americans read it! I remember reading that it is the 2nd most read online paper online....and loads of USA read it...they have done this to please them.

I'm keeping the dc's away from the news in case they show the photo again. Sky news did warn what was coming up before they put the picture up. I can handle seeing it but my 4yo would be quite upset.

Hope it's not over the front pages of the newspapers in the shops, at least we're not going to town today so can avoid it.

StickyProblem · 02/05/2011 09:23

YANBU
I hate vile shocking pictures, I don't want them in my head.
and WhiteBum is spot on - the print version of the DM is much more targeted for the UK market, while loads of Americans read (and comment) on the online version.
Made a new years's resolution this year never to pick up the DM again, after a filth-filled issue at the end of last year - have managed to stay away from it but do sometimes stray onto the online version. Blush

StickyProblem · 02/05/2011 09:23

sorry WhiteBum should have said OP

CheshireDing · 02/05/2011 09:26

Nooo I like the Daily Mail - it's fine as long as you take it with a pinch of salt.

Am now off to investigate dead mans face.

Al0uiseG · 02/05/2011 09:28

It's to stop speculation that he's not really dead. It's not the first body to be shown and it won't be the last. Personally I was more disturbed when I saw picture of him alive.

WhiteBumOfTheMountain · 02/05/2011 09:35

Cheshire you will be disturbed!

They should have it on the 2nd page with a warning on the front.

I like many, can't STAND war and hurt....it makes be unbearbly sad. I didn't want to see it.

troisgarcons · 02/05/2011 09:36

The picture isn't one distributed by Americans - it's lifted from Pakistani news.

Never have I seen such farscical twaddle unfold on the television as i have over the past 4 hours.

Vallhala · 02/05/2011 09:40

I'm in the middle of nowhere this weekend with very limited net access, no TV and no newspapers. DD1 picked up the news on FB and I checked online - read the BBC report and reacted with, "What a load of propaganda bollocks... show me the body!".

I'm probably the most sqeamish person you'd ever be likely to meet but I'm willing to suffer it on this occasion. Granted, there's no guarantee that the photos are genuine but it#s a step towards proof AFAIAC.

Like AlouiseG, I was far more disturbed when he was alive.

trisgardens...not saying it WAS distributed by USA...don't care who DID release it.....don't want to SEE it though!

Valhala why would anyone WANT to see a body to prove something like that?

I am a pacifist I suppose. I can't bear violence.

OP posts:
WhiteBumOfTheMountain · 02/05/2011 10:02

Vall he may be dead but he has many who will be acting in his name.

OP posts:
Al0uiseG · 02/05/2011 10:11

They might be acting in his name but without his funding, which was vast, the organisation won't be as slick. It's also created a vacuum which will create it's own problems.

The forensic accounting of his wealth will lead us to some interesting places.

WhiteBumOfTheMountain · 02/05/2011 10:12

Where will his money go Al0uis?

Punkatheart · 02/05/2011 10:17

The Daily Mail is great with a pinch of salt. Plus vinegar and some lovely fat chips. No one in their right mind would read it.....

No I don't want to see a dead body either but you must appreciate this is the story of the decade. Not simply for the Americans. This is world news.

If it was going to happen, thank God it happened on Obama's watch. If it had been Bush, he might have been wearing a stetson and whooping, using gung-ho (garbled, probably) language. Obama was calm and simply relayed the facts.

Obama was actually found last week and the DNA had to be performed.

follyfoot · 02/05/2011 10:21

Is there something a bit wrong with that last sentence punk?

Animation · 02/05/2011 10:22

Was the deed done before The Wedding then?

WhiteBumOfTheMountain · 02/05/2011 10:23

I find Obama comforting too Punk.

bronze · 02/05/2011 10:25

Osama/Obama
How to confuse with tired fingers

Punkatheart · 02/05/2011 10:25

Oh sodding whoops. Obama was of course found at The White House!

Osama was found dead.

HecateQueenOfTheNight · 02/05/2011 10:26

They did it with saddam too, didn't they?

It's the elvis effect.

Unless people actually see the body and poke it with a stick people would rather believe stories they hear on the net about how he returned home on the mother ship, is living in the queen's cellar, is now working in mcdonalds in slough or has had plastic surgery and now stars in eastenders.
