Yes another wedding based thread.

I think she seems a good egg. And looked lovely today.

Plus there were a few moments where she looked very emotional in the abbey, was very touching.

Sorry got it now [not too drunk after all]

diddl · 29/04/2011 21:29

Yes, I agree-the whole thing was a bloody mess.

In fact didn´t PC go out with Diana´s sister?

And if she didn´t want to marry into Royal life, I wonder why they thought it would be OK for the younger sister?

NotaMopsa · 29/04/2011 21:30

i like her too
A bit of get up and go
She does actually seem to have emotion

SybilBeddows · 29/04/2011 21:33

did the sister dump Charles or did he dump her though?
according to 'Diana Her True Story' (God I have had such great value for money from that book, lent it to about 5 people as well.....) Diana's grandmother who had been a lady-in-waiting to the Queen Mum, tried to dissuade her because she didn't think she would fit in.... Sad

Pagwatch · 29/04/2011 21:35

I don't like the whole shagging around when married thing but that is me and neither here nor there..

I thought she seemed very shaky and unwell today. I thought she looked great. But she didn't seem emotional to me - she was shaking a lot and seemed a bit lost and glassy eyed at times. I thought she seemed unwell. It seemed sufficiently so for me to mention to dh.

winnybella · 29/04/2011 21:36

Camilla isn't a commoner as someone up thread said, though? Her mother a daughter of a baron.

everthebeliver · 29/04/2011 21:37

Diana was 19 when she married Charles. Camilla had been in the backround for years. The Queen showed her disprespect when Diana died and would not even come back from Scotland etc and would not fly the flag at half mast. Camilla is a hanger on simple as that

winnybella · 29/04/2011 21:37

*her mother was...

TidyDancer · 29/04/2011 21:37

I really don't like Camilla, and never have. That said, I have no real problem with her being married to Charles, or receiving a title as a member of the royal family. I wouldn't want to see her as Queen though.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 21:39

I do like Camilla. I think the whole Charles Diana Camilla thing was quite tragic really. Diana was obviously an arranged bride/brood mare, brought in to replace Camilla, and I think she was incredibly naive and innocent when it all happened. She was 18? just a child really. He should have married Camilla in the first place. All this tradition and protocol is fabulous, to a point! I think this generation has it right. Kate is nearly 30 and they have known each other for 10 years. Anyway, Camilla is where she should have been all along, married to Charles. She behaves herself looks the part, and I dont think there is anything wrong with her. (And I think that on her own wedding day, she looked gorgeous)

TidyDancer · 29/04/2011 21:39

But she's definitely not a national treasure. I do like you GOML, but that was a bit [chmm]!

Rafi · 29/04/2011 21:40

My grandmother remarried at roughly the same time as Camilla and met her at something. They got on brilliantly, apparently swopped loads of tips on dealing with husbands. Diana should never have been put in that situation and it wasn't fair on the other two either.

everthebeliver · 29/04/2011 21:40

I do not think a lot of people would want to see her as queen. I think they will bypass Charles and go to his sons.

FoofffyShmoofffer · 29/04/2011 21:41

She's awreet an' all but national treasure? Maybe National Relic?

Felt sorry for her today. She looked terrified a lot of the time. She must have felt like Diana's shadow was hovering over that wedding.

QuickLookBusy · 29/04/2011 21:41

ever I don't get the "they didn't come back from Scotland" thing.

Surely they were trying to console 2 boys who had just lost their Mum, in private. Why should they have come back to London? Genuine question, I just don't understand it.

GitAwfMayLend · 29/04/2011 21:42

Charles went out with Diana's sister Sarah, she blew it by giving an interview saying 'god no I don't want to be princess' or summat and blew her chances.

OP posts:
laInfanta · 29/04/2011 21:43

You can't just 'bypass Charles'. He would have to abdicate. Otherwise Camilla will be queen. It's a simple matter of legal fact.

RunAwayWife · 29/04/2011 21:44

I think it is a bit sad that he did not have the balls to stand up to his mother and the system in the first place and marry her to start with instead of marrying a young girl who thought he loved her and in the end destroy two family's only to end up with her.

If he loved her enough to ruin the live's of Diana and Andrew Parker Bowls and all the children he should have loved her enough to give up his right to the throne and marry her in the first place.

strandednomore · 29/04/2011 21:46

I still can't see her without thinking of a tampon though

compo · 29/04/2011 21:47

Felt sorry for her today. She looked terrified a lot of the time. She must have felt like Diana's shadow was hovering over that wedding.

really? I thought she looked very confident and at ease

it's amazing the differences people read into things

meditrina · 29/04/2011 21:48

QuickLookBusy: I completely agree with you. I think it's the only time in her reign that HMQ put her family before the country, and so many people hated her for it.

FoofffyShmoofffer · 29/04/2011 21:48

Stranded - Thats what I was thinking today when discussing it with DH. How can we ever see Charles as King in all seriousness after the whole "Camilla's tampon" thing?

GitAwfMayLend · 29/04/2011 21:49

tidy - I have sunk a lot of prosecco.

I will be back to my cynical sneering self tomorrow Grin

AnnoyingOrange · 29/04/2011 21:51

I wouldn't want to see Camilla be Queen

Madsometimes · 29/04/2011 21:56

Camilla has really grown on me.

Out of all the royals, she looks like she would be the most fun to go to the pub with.
