I posted this in feminism but think this is appalling, if true.

I doubt he would ever speak to a man in that patronising and derogatory way. Fucking disgraceful behaviour.

And I am a liberal feminist for those of you who like to know what you're dealing with.

Funny as fuck - that shut the old boot up didn't it! Oh - so she couldn't handle a bit of smartarse banter and now she's crying 'sexist'?? THIS is what opens these people up to well deserved ridicule!

Funniest post of the thread, by the way, to this one......

"wind your necks in, you humourless harridans"

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 27/04/2011 14:56

Of course it was sexist. I agree with Katie; I can't imagine him speaking to a man like that. I don't care if he was paraphrasing an advert; he chose a particular advert with particular language.

Oh, and I use 'wanker' as an insult for men, women and inanimate objects.

JoanofArgos · 27/04/2011 14:57

Labour didn't raise tuition fees to this extent, and more specifically in a manner which will directly punish women who take career breaks to have children and were recovering the economy rather than sending it double-dipward. They didn't try to push anti-women measures like the rape anonymity issue, and for all his faults I doubt Tony Blair would have told Theresa May to 'calm down dear'. In fact, didn't they have more women in parliament than ever before - whereas Cameron has pushed it right back down again.

BarbaraBar · 27/04/2011 14:58

I've just seen it on the bbc news channel.

It's much worse than I imagined. Truly awful.

It wasn't just a rubbish one liner. He just kept on and on.

I hope he's kicking himself now. Idiot.

JoanofArgos · 27/04/2011 14:58

sorry 'to have children - and THEY were'

NicName · 27/04/2011 15:00

I'm watching Opposition proposal debate that Sure Start should be protected from the Con Dem cuts:
news.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/hi/house_of_commons/newsid_8167000/8167404.stm
It's truly shocking.
Sure Start allows mums to work, affords children a good start in life & delivers great value for money in reducing benefits. All parties have conceded that. Clegg promised to protect Surestart from any cuts.
Think Cameron should really be apologising to women for the swingeing cuts to Sure Start & Foundation Years spending that are going to affect millions of mums and kids & their opportunities for years to come, rather than patronising anyone that points out uncomfortable truths to him.

Ninx · 27/04/2011 15:00

David Cameron is for example...

blahblahing · 27/04/2011 15:02

thanks LDNmummy, and good on Angela Eagle who has come back with,
"I've been patronised by better people than the Prime Minister".

Am so hacked off at the level of petty insults and real question avoidance by the PM at every PMQ's and lack of account this coalition is held to over policies not in manifesto's, not based on in-depth research and not paying attention to the devastating affects of cuts on services, jobs, families and communities.

I hope people remember their irritation at things like Camerons attitude today and get out and vote accordingly in May.

QuelleLeJeff · 27/04/2011 15:04

I wonder why there is always the accusation of being "humourless" embedded into these kind of arguments.

I've noticed, IME, that the people who say things like "Can't you take a joke?" are usually the ones spouting some sort of bile. It's one of the greatest insults that can be leveled at someone really, isn't it? To say they have no sense of humour - even though humour is so subjective.

JoanofArgos · 27/04/2011 15:06

I would have voted accordingly anyway - the fact that the millionaire old Etonian Tory David Cameron 'turns out' to be an unreconstructed sexist doesn't make a lot of difference to that Wink

nometime · 27/04/2011 15:14

Just watched the clip on the lunchtime news and it wasn't pretty viewing.

Just because Labour weren't blameless it doesn't mean the current Govt is above criticism. I assure you I dished it out to Labour as well.

JamieAgain · 27/04/2011 15:29

I'm sure the lady it was directed to is quite able to take it and is not "blubbing in the toilet". I'm sure she's well used to it. But that's not the point. The female ref who was derided by those twatty Sky reporters is probably also well used to this sort of twattiness. I agree with fgrg and others

It is sexist and it's not acceptable

KatieMiddleton · 27/04/2011 15:30

Have watched it now. Was so much worse than I anticipated. How dare he speak to her like that?! Angry

GothAnneGeddes · 27/04/2011 15:32

I thought it sounded bad, then I watched the clip, which was even worse. My opinion of Dave is already lower than a snake's bottom, but this hasn't helped.

Thank you Quenelle for summing up exactly why this is so crap.

expatinscotland · 27/04/2011 15:34

He was being the patronising git he is. And his little sidekick Gideon was showing his true colours as well, laughing right beside him. Pair of eejits.

luvvinlife · 27/04/2011 15:35

wibble

Swedes2 · 27/04/2011 15:37

Teenagers are always telling each other to 'calm down, dear'. I think you've all missed the point and Cameron was in fact hugging hoodies.

Calm down, dears.

JoanofArgos · 27/04/2011 15:40

Watched it - shameful. And look at Clegg torn between giggles and not wanting to be in trouble as well.

expatinscotland · 27/04/2011 15:40

That Dave, he's so street.
