I posted this in feminism but think this is appalling, if true.

I'm faux amused.

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 15:03

It's the best kind of outraged. No cruelty involved

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 15:04

Fauxtrage I think you mean usual?

Yes Lucky, Angela Eagle is a made up name! It's mad isn't it? hahahahHAHAA. Her name is, like, a bird! a bird! ha and she's a bird as well haha! a great sqwacking flapping bird called Eagle. HAHA

Ha

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 15:05

Eagles have sharp beaks as well let us not forget.

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 28/04/2011 15:06

My surname is also a bird name - it's just Angela Eagle is almost an anagram. Makes her sound like someone from Hannah's Helpline. Sit down lovey, your laughter is somewhat deranged.

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 15:07

Almost an anagram of what?

You're FUN Lucky! I like clever people who have names like birds and are birds.

usualsuspect · 28/04/2011 15:09

faux birds

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 15:10

Faux Lesbo Leftie Bird Anagrams.

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 28/04/2011 15:11

You are most peculiar. I am have got to go and apply my eyelashes now. Nice talking to you.

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 15:15

It was a dream come true to talk to you too. Bye! I might put some lipstick on in a minute.

grovel · 28/04/2011 15:15

Gee, anal gale! Is an anagram of Angela Eagle. Stupid old fart that she is.

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 15:23

Hello? David Cameron? Yes hello, Dave, how are things? I've got another joke for you....yes.....yes.....I got it off Mumsnet....yes it's "Gee, Anal Gale"...haha....what does it mean? Oh it's an anagram of Angela Eagle!...what do you mean it's not very funny?

Sorry grovel, I tried.

madamimadam · 28/04/2011 15:30

Lilmeena, not sure if you read my post fully - I said I'm not a Labour supporter.

I also don't understand why you think I believe Labour's record on the NHS is 'squeaky clean'. Of course it isn't - I just don't think they'd have followed the same actions as the Coalition. Both the pieces you link to identify criticisms of the Blair govt for privatisation of the NHS, which I think are quite valid (& a continuation of Tory policy at the time). It's just like the PFI scandal - it was a Tory policy first. Whatever the genealogy of the policy, Limeena, I do not believe that Labour would ever have presented Landsley's bill.

And you miss my wider point: the Tories are cackhandedly trying to push ill-thought out policies through Parliament and when they are challenged, rather than argue the merits of their case, they resort to clumsy secondhand sexist jibes to silence their opponents.

I find that pretty insulting. You clearly think it's fine. But do you not think we are all a little diminished when we have a PM who quotes Michael Winner at the despatch box?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/04/2011 15:35

I may be way behind here ? sorry if so ? but just heard a clip of Cameron on the radio starting 'Don't worry, I'm not going to tell you to calm down' and ending 'some people on the left ... they put the socialism in and take the sense of humour out.'

Now, if I've got that out of context or am badly misquoting (I did paraphrase the start of the 'socialism' bit as can't remember it 100%) I'm happy to be corrected. But is it me, or is the 'no sense of humour' thing a classic way to attack women? e.g. humourless feminists, can't take a joke etc.

He just seems to me to be digging himself a deeper hole.

messybessie · 28/04/2011 15:44

Maybe next week he'll start quoting Alf Garnett, or maybe the policeman from Allo Allo at the next EU summit.

What a jolly wheeze it shall be.

usualsuspect · 28/04/2011 15:49

Grin @ messybessie

QuelleLeJeff · 28/04/2011 15:49

He could a funny Hitler walk as well. I hope that next week he might do a quick blast of "Go COMPARE!" or maybe "We buy anycar dot com" while wearing a clown wig and flicking V's at the opposition bench.

madamimadam · 28/04/2011 15:51

While I'm up here on my high horse, could I also ask Lilmeena if you are going to link to the Daily Mail if you'd be kind enough to do it via www.istyosty.com, as I think the DM is a misogynist's wank mag.

Yours in loving sisterhood

grovel · 28/04/2011 15:54

Miliband is at it too. Imitating a meerkat at all times.

jewelosopher · 28/04/2011 16:11

This debate is far better than Question Time. Isn't this comment and the patronising tone of delivery what we should be expecting of one so self-entitled as David Cameron? Of course this doesn't make it right. I'm with TheRepublican's initial assessment of the situation.

Lilmeena · 28/04/2011 16:13

Madamimadam;

I am in receipt of your communication dated 28/04/11 (time 15;51;38) the contents of which have been duly noted.

Unfortunately, I am unable to give you my assurance that no further links to the Daily Mail ( urban dictionary definition 'wank mag' ) will be provided. indeed, as I type this communication my eyes are surveying page 6 >

I trust this will not be too difficult an issue to overcome, we are after-all, both broadminded people.

Yours in loving wankyhood

I'm surprised that the PM has time to watch TV. I'd never heard of the advert until this incident.

MayBankHoliday · 28/04/2011 16:51

No it's not just you, you're spot on there LadyClarice. Shame some people equate "humour" with sexism isn't it, when there are so many more amusing things out there (MN classics-in-the-making and so on :o)

"is it me, or is the 'no sense of humour' thing a classic way to attack women? e.g. humourless feminists, can't take a joke etc."

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/04/2011 17:02

Quite. Have you seen the one about the glittery bath bomb? Grin

Beachcomber · 28/04/2011 17:14

at funny Hitler walk.

You lot are on good form.
