Apparently it is worth £250K. I personally never go shopping in the Kings Road or anywhere else for that matter, wearing my pieces of jewellery that have been valued at over £100K, for the risk of losing these heirlooms. what could she be thinking? I know she has a body guard there but even so!

Unless she is wearing a cunningly constructed papier mache copy?

why not - are you saying that people who have nice things should not wear them

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 22/04/2011 16:18

Why wouldn't she wear it? It's her engagement ring?

Sure, there'd be questions asked if she didn't, wouldn't there?

Rhinestone · 22/04/2011 16:20

I imagine she has more than the one bodyguard pictured in her immediate vicinity. She is the mother of our future king or queen!

TrillianAstra · 22/04/2011 16:24

It's her bloody engagement ring, she should do everything while wearing it.

Mercedes519 · 22/04/2011 16:26

In the picture in the Times you can see at least two members of her security keeping a close eye on her and her ring.

Anyway if you did take it off and leave it at home, where would you put it? Next to the sink or on the window ledge Grin

Mercedes519 · 22/04/2011 16:27

Also boasting by much stealth sugar?

GreenToes · 22/04/2011 16:28

YABU. When/where should she be allowed to wear her engagement ring then?!

You'd gave had to wrestle my engagement ring off me.

tulpe · 22/04/2011 16:30

Apart from the fact that I don't give a toss about this whole royal wedding business........

Can you imagine the headlines: Kate goes shopping WITHOUT her engagement ring.........is their trouble in paradise? Has she told Wills to shove it? Is she considering calling it off?

Hmm
tulpe · 22/04/2011 16:31

there obviously not their

Clytaemnestra · 22/04/2011 16:31

Might be a copy with the real one in the safe :D

AnnoyingOrange · 22/04/2011 16:32

Blimey! that ring has certainly increased in value over the years - it only cost £28,000 when it was purchased

I have to say when I heard he'd given her the ring I was a bit shocked at the thought of her wearing it - not that I' bothered, but if I was her I'd be terrified to wear it. £250k conservative estimate of value surely.

But no, of course she should wear it. It's her engagement ring. Anyway, my engagement ring (not worth £250k lol) was stolen when I wasn't wearing it. From my house. While I was out. So actually my initial reaction was bobbins Grin

JaneS · 22/04/2011 16:35

I too remove my precious jewellery when I go out. To do otherwise would be unsafe - so I wear a little t-shirt saying 'I'm well rich, me' instead and find that does nicely.

JaneS · 22/04/2011 16:36

PS, it's not like Wills doesn't have the spare cash to buy her a replacement should she drop it down the sink while washing up or something.

Clary · 22/04/2011 16:38

Actually look it's really worth £32m! Gasp!

Violethill · 22/04/2011 16:38

Yeah, because Kate Middleton is so likely to be wrestled to the ground and mugged for her engagement ring isn't she....

I would have thought ,op, that on balance , she is considerably safer when out and about with her jewels, than you are

TheOriginalFAB · 22/04/2011 16:40

I had read it was worth £32 million.

DuplicitousBitch · 22/04/2011 16:41

maybe she was off to cash generators

MardyBra · 22/04/2011 16:45

She looks like Angelina Jolie in the photo on the left. And jajas, she is a beautiful girl but sorry she's looking a bit gaunt. I hope she can relax after the wedding and have a few cakes.
