To be mildly irritated with those who assume that we're banner waving, aromatherapy sniffing tree huggers?

This is just a lighthearted whinge.

As many of you know I'm very pro animal rights and a believer in no kill policies when it comes to animal rescue, added to which I don't eat animals. Now, you may agree or disagree, that's your perogative and not the thing that pisses me off.

What really gets my goat is the assumption that I must therefore be a banner-waving protest marcher who is into recycling like a loon and all things green, homeopathic, aromatheraputic, spiritual and woo.

Example... I go out to dinner. Someone spots that I don't eat meat and immediately tries to engage me in a conversation about aroma-bleeding-therapy! Yet the closest I come to aromatherapy is putting Radox in my bath!

For the record, I may be an activist but the last time I went on a protest march was 30 years ago, I'm a huger fan of gas-guzzling cars than Jeremy Clarkson and I don't hug bloody trees!

Honeydragon · 21/04/2011 23:54

Oh dear Grin

MardyBra · 21/04/2011 23:54

Vallhala - you sound like you need to chill a little? Would you like me to read your tarot cards? Or cleanse your aura a little?

Vallhala · 21/04/2011 23:55

NOOOOOOOOOOO!

I heart Clarkson, not Cedars!

Nope my jeans are denim. Per Una, which I appreciate is pretty offensive on MN. (Disclaimer: they are dog walking jeans).

I am vegan though! :o

Me thinks she doth protest too much.......

HipHopOpotomus · 22/04/2011 00:05

I on the other hand love a good rare steak, AND aromatherapy. Guess I'm a little bit woo and many people, even those I've known well for years, think I'm a vegetarian :) when I'm far from it.

People make silly assumptions based on stereotypes. YANBU [bugrin]

Honeydragon · 22/04/2011 00:05

As a aside can I just say

I fucking hate lentils

That is all

FabbyChic · 22/04/2011 00:08

what no banners? no hugging trees?

disappointed! ;o)

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 22/04/2011 00:09

If you use radox then you must be into aromatherapy. And woo.

HipHopOpotomus · 22/04/2011 00:10

Lentils are great esp with lamb. I had accupuncture today and packed aromatherapy stuff into my bag for the birth centre.

Vallhala · 22/04/2011 00:10

Mardy I had a figure like that once... but not the dark hair.

Can't be me... cos I don't bloody well hug sodding trees!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 22/04/2011 00:10

Do you think fewer people are into woo nowadays because there's less money to throw away on rubbish?

bristolcities · 22/04/2011 00:13

Not even a little bit of yogurt weaving?

Vallhala · 22/04/2011 00:13

Christ, no, Mardy! I leave the bust-having to DD1!

HipHop, being serious for a moment, what's the acupuncture for, if you don't mind me asking? Is it working?

And HOW? (Sceptical).

I confess I'm needle-phobic so nothing would convince me to try it!
