Reading some of this feminist crap, I just wonder just what is the problem. Yes, i'm a woman. I like being a woman. I'm a SAHM. Yes, I dress dd in pink, she has a barbie. Ds, has an action man. Does this make me a bad person? seriously? Btw, not a troll.

OP posts:

'such as jellybeans comment about feminists wanting women in the workplace. '

I did actually say SOME. I know that many want the choice.

AnnieLobePassoverSeder · 18/04/2011 16:19

Well, jellybeans, feminists are as diverse a group as any other. One thing we all have in common is wanting equality and being free from oppression and discrimination.

However, the views on what this actually entails and how to achieve it vary widely. I think you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater though and dismiss feminism bacuse you don't agree with what some feminists say, and I hope you can agree with that.

It's because of feminism that you have the choice whether or not to SAH instead of it being your only option.

Particles: are you sure? A woman? Taught to read? Did she live?

As far as I'm aware, men are
Men and women are women unless they've had the op! Fortunately most people don't attach stereotypical narrow behaviour to each gender. Good for you if you enjoy being at home and dressing your daughter in pink, just be aware that that has nothing to do with you having a vagina and is just about your personal preference. I am
Very much a woman but enjoy going to work; and of my two dd's, one loves pink and one hates it. Stop being so narrow minded and start seeing people as people.

SarfEasticated · 18/04/2011 17:01

What annelobe said.

GabbyLoggon · 18/04/2011 17:01

Einstein The other Einstein said "God does not roll dice." How did he know?

On the men and women thing; most people know what they are when they need a public toilet.....

I think it takes all sorts to make a world.

Germaine Greer once told Tony Blair he should "pay housewives"
Tony smiled.

Insomnia11 · 18/04/2011 17:12

I wish I'd read this earlier and brought popcorn. :)

If the OP is saying "Why can't people just be themselves?" then I'd agree, yes it is a good idea for people to be comfortable in themselves.

But if they are saying men and women should only exhibit certain characteristics, dress in a certain way and behave in a certain way and anything else is wrong then I'd vehemently disagree.

aliceliddell · 18/04/2011 18:42

But I AM a hairy, man-hating lesbian. Who only eats pink cakes which I make myself. Will I ever be strident/ugly/bitter/doing something on my own merits/being unable to park or read a map while combing my moustache? How am I meant to know what stereotype to choose now?

JemAndTheHolograms · 18/04/2011 18:57

See I don't get anyone that says "all this feminist crap," Hmm I take it the OP doesn't vote then hmmm? Because that's what "all this feminist crap," got you. I take it the OP never went to university or even had a full secondary school education? Because that's what "all this feminist crap," got you. I take it the OP has never worked a day in her life and had her husband picked for her by her father? Because that's what "all this feminist crap," got you. I take it the OP doesn't drive and completely obeys her husband and lets him control every aspect of her life? Because that's what "all this feminist crap," got you. I take the OP is teaching her daughter to do as men tell her, and making sure she knows her sole purpose in life is to men's bidding? Because that's what "all this feminist crap," got you.

OP open your fucking eyes and actually listen to the shite that's coming out of your mouth.

Femtastic has a blog? I knew she (he?) was a post-and-run artist but didn't see her (him?) as a troll. Link?

nurseysclone · 19/04/2011 12:48

I actually love the whole fifties housewife thing. Then again, I have a very unrealistic idea of wearing heels and dresses everyday and baking cakes and cookies while I wait for the kids to come home XD. I can dream. Then again, we have had our roles since the dawn of humanity. That's why men have more muscle mass then women (hunter-gatherer thing needs to be strong and fast etc) and why women have more fat mass then men (mother and carer needs to be able to create more life). It's not necessarily a bad thing, just the way we are, isn't it? Why must we fight to be exactly the same as men? Come on, tell me you don't shiver thinking of a man that plucks and waxes and fake tans to within an inch of his life? It's not sexy and not masculine.

Ormirian · 19/04/2011 12:52

"and small green furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small green furry creatures from Alpha Centauri"!

Well I am a woman and DH is a man. And? I am not sure that means anything very much does it?
