Bugaboo Donkey

I admit it, I looked at bugaboo when I was expecting ds1 as they were the 'in thing" and up until I saw them I thought they must be the best cause of all the coverage etc. Then I saw them in the flesh and thought they were a heap of junk and cheap looking in all honesty. Now I see the article above and I just think people can't be buying these for any other reason than the name and celebrity endorsement surely?

It's not so much the cost, the pram I eventually chose was more expensive than a Bugaboo, more value for money and the fact people are only buying them for the reasons stated above.

You didn't state your opinion on bugaboo, you cast aspersions on people that had them, hence the threadload of people telling you why being a vacuous celeb stalker is not the reason they have one.

For the stats:
I own and love a Bee, looked at the Cam and hated how low down the carrycot was and think the donkey is laughable. But each to their own.

roundthehouses · 16/04/2011 07:30

haven´t read the whole thread but SIL bought a bugaboo frog almost 8 years ago and between her family (inc us) and friends it has been in constant use since, through 7 children that i am aware of, and is still in FAB condition.

DianaXXX · 21/11/2011 21:20

Hi ladies how did it work out for u? I'm due in feb and I wanna purchase it at Christmas! Do u know the best place for the price for it?:)
I'm hoping that it goes down in December! :)

befuzzled · 21/11/2011 21:32

dunno about the later ones which have got stupidly expensive but I have an old-school ("vintage" as I like to call it) Frog which I bought in 2004 for ds1 and it is still going strong today on my third child - really impressed with the durability I have to say. There were a couple of design flaws like the way you cant have the carry cot and pushchair on the go at the same time, and the fact that you can't put it together with one hand - but I think they addressed that with later models. We also but the Chameleon puncture-proof tyres on as well as that did my head in.

The Frog has been dragged halfway round the world, been abused by 3 children, (been puked on, pooed on, wee'd on, had beer spilt on it, coffee, tea, you name it) and baggage handlers on 3 continents, and is still going strong and, I have to say - spotless - I wash it before each child and after any serious incidents. I am very impressed with how well it has lasted and 500 odd quid for 3 babies and 2 toddlers on buggy boards is starting to look like good value for money these days.

Whilst I don't know your particular choice of pushchair, I am surprised it's a M&P one as I have always found their buggies to be heavy, unwieldy and, generally crap - everyone I know who has had one has got rid of it.

Not sure I would get a Donkey TBH unless I had twinsand there is a lot more to choose from on the market these days, but the Frog has been fab.

Bumping a 7 month old thread? Just why?

ouryve · 21/11/2011 21:48

I wish Maclaren would make wheels like those for their Major buggy. It was bloody useless in last year's snow (then again, I think any buggy would be useless in 18" of snow) I couldn't even use it on the roads, though and DS2 was barely up to the walk to school and back. Year before last, I ended up kicking the mice out of the old M&P 3 wheeler we had in the garage that was barely big enough for him and pushing him up the road in that.

DianaXXX · 21/11/2011 22:03

What about stokke explory

runningwilde · 21/11/2011 22:12

The bugaboo chameleon is the best pram out there

I bet you went for a pretentious stokke or something like that Hmm

DianaXXX · 21/11/2011 22:32

Yeah I did actually

DianaXXX · 21/11/2011 23:16

I didn't go for yet I still gotta buy my stroller I'm
Between the two actually :)

angela1991 · 07/07/2015 12:07

Bugaboo bees look good but they always break thats why they sale so many replacment parts. Firstly it was the handle bar clips for me then the seat snapped and i could not fold or recline the seat.

RoboticSealpup · 07/07/2015 12:20

It's funny because you see somany of these in poorer areas too. It's like the new Burberry scarf or something.

ConcreteElephant · 07/07/2015 12:29

ZOMBIE ZOMBIE ZOMBIE

Volenflo · 07/07/2015 12:31

They were a faultless brand for my two children.

Volenflo · 07/07/2015 12:31

Fucking cunty zombie!!!!!

LadyCuntingtonThe3rd · 07/07/2015 12:37

I was all like YABU and stuff, but then I saw it's a zombie thread. Therefore the person who brought it back to life is BU.

Skiptonlass · 07/07/2015 14:10

Like all prams/cars/bikes/etc it depends on your needs and what you use it for.

We've bought an emmaljunga - it'd be utterly useless for my previous living situation (on the fifth floor of an Edinburgh tenement with no stairs) but it's perfect for a baby born in winter in sweden. Similarly, the pram a lot of my friends in the uk advised was a bugaboo - frog or something? Again, perfect for them in the city, but the little springy wheels on the front aren't going to cut it in two feet of snow.

What pram is best depends on where you live and how you use it. There's no way if have bought the pram I have (dragging the thing up five flights of stairs would require serious strength) but now I live in a house I can just wheel it in the fro t door. There's no right or wrong really - as long as the build quality is good and the safety features are strong, then what's good for you depends on your lifestyle ;)

morelikeguidelines · 07/07/2015 17:44

It looks quite good to me! Had my two, though, and not having more, and with a big gap so never needed a double buggy.

Idea of two buggy sized ones at once scares me!

Fizzielove · 07/07/2015 19:52

I had the Bugaboo Bee it was fab for shopping and nipping about!!

Icimoi · 07/07/2015 19:56

A coffee cup holder on a buggy? Seriously? Because that's not a disaster waiting to happen, is it?

ZenNudist · 07/07/2015 20:03

Why do people do this? I managed to read quite a lot of the thread thinking 'but surely this was released years ago '.

IUseAnyName · 07/07/2015 20:35

I did the same zen, I opened the link and thought this is a really old pram!

I bought a cam 2nd hand for £100, bargain. Been through 2 kids and I reckon I could sell it not shy of what I bought if for!

ghostyslovesheep · 07/07/2015 20:39

Wow angela1991 you joined MN just to bump a 4 year old thread !

I had a bee - lasted me 4 years with no issues what so ever and sold for £200 on ebay

I bought a second hand Cameleon, used it for two kids and sold it for €50 more than I'd paid for it : )

Plus we found it absolutely fantastic. I couldn't care less about sleb endorsement, I wouldn't know who most of them were, but there was nowhere that buggy wouldn't go, and it was in perfect nick when I sold it. I still miss the damn thing.
