Bugaboo Donkey

I admit it, I looked at bugaboo when I was expecting ds1 as they were the 'in thing" and up until I saw them I thought they must be the best cause of all the coverage etc. Then I saw them in the flesh and thought they were a heap of junk and cheap looking in all honesty. Now I see the article above and I just think people can't be buying these for any other reason than the name and celebrity endorsement surely?

It's not so much the cost, the pram I eventually chose was more expensive than a Bugaboo, more value for money and the fact people are only buying them for the reasons stated above.

i have had other prams, and they are like wonky shopping carts compared to bugaboo esp quinny

bugaboo keeps resale value on ebay
nice accessories
quality product

cant wait to add this to my expansive fleet of bugaboo

Louiseteacher30 · 13/04/2011 22:18

Ahhh that's what it is!!! I saw a women in Waitrose with one today, very wide for the sake of a tiny side basket that she just about squeezed 2 bags of lightish shopping into. She also struggled to get the thing out onto the pavement....wont be buying one and especially a pram with such a crap name lol :-)

is it available for sale?yipeeee

Woodlands · 13/04/2011 22:20

Someone was giving away a Bugaboo Bee in good condition on our local Freegle the other day. I was tempted to ask for it but I assumed he would have had a zillion requests immediately!

What is it with people on MN and Bugaboos? Is it because they are expensive? I haven't needed a pram or buggy for ten years so I'm not very up on pram fashions, but when I had my three DCs I remember certain brands and styles being more 'trendy' and desirable than others, but I honestly don't remember any Pram Wars or any hatred or sneering at a particular pram, like we seem to have with the poor old Bugaboo.

LadyThompson · 13/04/2011 22:33

Oh bum, I wish this had been available last year. My Bugaboo Chameleon has been so nippy and fantabulous. I bought a secondhand iCandy Pear as a double for my (now) 2yr old and 6mth old and it's so unwieldy and v poor by comparison. Oh yeah...and, OP, if you haven't had a Bugaboo and realised how darn practical they are, YABU.

scottishmummy · 13/04/2011 22:33

no isnt released yet so dont know what pram you saw louise?,but apparently journalist trial bugaboo donkey

ChocolateEggyrolls · 13/04/2011 22:40

Well, Bugaboo do have very good customer service, have easily available extra's and good resell value as you can get the fabric seperately. Just don't get why you are dissing the bugaboo if you don't have one Hmm I will diss the phil and teds for being too heavy and problematic with fecking tyres, but then I have one and dislike it quite a lot because of said tyres! I also have a bugaboo and quite like it, far far more than the p + t however they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

parsnipcake · 13/04/2011 22:45

I just bought one today. I am not aspiring to celebritydom, it is just a perfect design for my needs (I foster young children and babies) and it can be used for so many combinations of children I am pretty sure I can get rid of my other 4 prams. I walk most places and the right pram makes my life so much easier. When I only have one child I will also be able to do my shopping, and it will fit the bus and tram. I would think lots of childcarers will go for it.

I have never owned a bugaboo before and have loved my graco in the past, I'm not a pushchair obsessive or design person, but to me it's like having a good car. I just hope I get to use it soon- can't get current babe out of the sling!

sungirltan · 13/04/2011 22:48

this donkey thing doesnt asppeal to me but then i have almost a phobia of double buggies!

i wish i'd bought a bugaboo. only reason i didnt was that the range of fabrics/colours were too much for my stressed pregnant brain so i bought a buzz instead (which i'm quite happy with tbf) but friends have bugaboos which still look immaculate (our babies are 18 months and we do alot of walking) even though some are 2nd hand anyway (nothing wring with 2nd hand i am just so impressed how hardwearing they are!)

they seem a bit spendy spendy but i think you get it back over the years if you have more than one dc, plus you can change the hoods etc and the accessories are brill!

i dont think they look daft either - they are quite functional looking visually - much less wanky than the icandy one with the chrome bumpers!

scottishmummy · 13/04/2011 22:51

some folk hate bugaboo just because. its only a pram albeit a pricey one

Morloth · 13/04/2011 22:54

I love my bee, such a workhorse, I have hang a weeks shop on the back and it does not tip.

is light, comfy, good in small spaces, has excellent suspension and a roomy basket, worth every single cent. had it for a year now and a quick wipedown and it is as good as new.

I love my bugaboo. I've got a chameleon and it's fab.

Um... Considering a DC2 so I can get this one! Lol

Bugaboo jealousy hate is just silly.

lurkerspeaks · 13/04/2011 23:23

I am never happier than when I am left to babysit a munchkin with a bugaboo. None of the others are nearly as good/ easy to use (and I've used loads of buggies......)

It is the most practical pram for my lifestyle. I know several that are 5+ years old and have served lots of kids.

The double one was a huge gap in their repetoire. It will sell well.

NotaMopsa · 13/04/2011 23:28

six kids got a bugaboo on dc5

wow

op you are just silly

BagofHolly · 13/04/2011 23:35

There's a huge gap in the market for a quality double pram where the children face in or out, and will take a maxi cosi car seat. There's only a couple - the iCandy pear is the most popular, and it pushes like it was built by pissed 6th formers doing a project for school.
I did a wee of joy when Bugaboo said they were doing a double but as the Chameleon is so low down, I was gutted when it was based on that, rather than something totally different.
What I really want is for Stokke to do a twin pram. Now. And for ABC Adventure to do a smaller, lighter version of their triple.
That is all.

AppleHEAD · 13/04/2011 23:39

love mine.... 3 kids and it's still great. The best thing was that the baby could lay flat initially... not all curled up like the car seat pram things

NoseyNooNoo · 13/04/2011 23:57

It looks like a great design but I could never say I had a 'donkey'. DH on the otherside might like to be associated with it Wink

Bubbaluv · 14/04/2011 00:05

I don't have one, but I know lots of people who have them and love them, so obviously they've got something right?
Now Phil & Teds on the other hand - that's a hunk of junk!

scottishmummy · 14/04/2011 00:13

p&t is unwieldy heavy not fit for purpose

TheBlindAssassin · 14/04/2011 00:18

A Stokke Xplory twin buggy - I would almost have another baby JUST for that ... sigh

scottishmummy · 14/04/2011 00:20

i had an xplory hated the damn thing.shocking build quality and wobbly on central stem
